Thanks so much for the information in the video. I just received Skywatcher EQ6-Ri Pro on 10/10/22, after selling Losmandy G-11. I spent a day failing to get my (windows) minipc connected correctly to mount using Synscan Pro app or Skywatcher ASCOM drivers. I use the windows minpc connected to the mount and control it from laptop, over home wifi network, using remote desktop software, and run APT and NINA on the minipc. So, I had things up and running within an hour after watching this video and installing EQMOD. I could then use APT and NINA on the minipc. Of course, neither of them are very reliable, so I'm waiting semi-patiently for the ZWO ASIAIR Plus to come in, hopefully by early November! Again, this video is a lifesaver and frustration minimizer. Keep them coming. Hey, I actually LIVE in High Point, NC! 🙂
sPLASHING PIRATE...i agree with your statement..Skim is the word as you stated..or they will say we assume you know how to do such and such...such as connecting as Ed Thank God has shown us..
This also applies to the AZEQ6. One thing I found, install the Ascom platform first, before anything else - to be on the safe side install it then restart your PC. I had all sorts of issues because I installed stuff in the wrong order. This applies to everything, not just Skywatcher. I had problems with a Celestron mount, ZWO cameras, Ioptron mount and all because I installed the mount and camera drivers before the Ascom platform.
Ed...Thank you ever so much...I have off and on been trying to connect my Mount to computer over several years...and watching other videos on same subject presented by very knowledgeable Astronomers but not teachers...- for the first time I may even see the rings of Saturn on my Sky-Watcher...By the way, I have over the years shopped with and respect HighPoint Scientific. Tell dave Hello for me..
Thank you. This is the only useful video for beginners as it shows selecting the eq mod in the ASCOM device hub. Before that all my apps only loaded the eq simulator. Minor things maybe but major headaches.
Bit off topic: Is it possible to connect Sky Safari (6 or 7) to an EQ6-R Pro that is being controlled from the ASI Air Pro I got from you this week? I've tried both the EQMOD cable and USB - USB cable. Meade LX200 apparently used to work but I can't get it going. Sky Safari reports that it can contact the mount over wifi but the mount type is incorrect. There is a SkyWatcher Synscan and Synscan Linked - neither work. The EQ6-R Pro seems to be very popular and many of the forum members aren't upgrading to 7 because they would lose the function. Can you help pls? The ASI Air plus controls it just fine using either cable but SS7 has much nicer mapping and that “tilt to slew” feature which is very nice when you are visually observing.
Thank you for the great and informative video! Quick question, I just bought this mount and had it out twice so far where both nights the mount repeatedly disconnects from NINA. It happens at random, but the consistent part is it will work fine for about 30 minutes and then start acting up. As far as I can tell, everything is up to date and I have tried several USB cables. Any ideas?
So what's all the fuss about having to use special cables to keep from smoking the board in the mount? Is this only a fear concerning the previous eq6 model without the USB port?
OK! You (Highpoint) are my "Go-To" for info for my astro equipment. So, I ask this: is MAC compatable to the EQ-6 R Pro, or do I have to get a PC to do all this? Thank you for your services.
Great guide BUT!!! Don't just set the baud rate to any specific value, ONLY to the rate, that is displayed in your com port settings. My Cable for example only works with 9600 B/s.

Thank you. I was sucessful with the help of your instructions.
Really appreciate your work man! 🙏🏼
Greetings from India ❤️
Thank you 🙌
Really useful - all worked for an EQ3 Pro except baud speed should be set to 9600.
It's amazing how those tiny details (like PORT!) have been skimmed over in all the other tutorials. THANK YOU!!!
Thank you, we appreciate hearing that.

Hi and thank you for the video
Do you have a tip for buying the USB cable please ?
I've been looking for something like this. I have the EQ35, but I'm still gonna follow this as much as possible. Thank you!
No problem!
Great guide

Is it safe to assume this works with the HEQ5 Pro

Thanks! Unfortunately, to our knowledge there's not a program on MAC that runs the EQ-6 R Pro.
Naiiiiiiice
