CORRECTIONS:
- Mineplex and The Hive ended much more recently, and those closures did not affect Hypixel as much since they were already basically dead
- Some of the earlier information in here is out of order because it was very hard to find. To quote a commenter named GarnWall:
"In 2010 Simon & Rezzus founded a website called Theory Crafting and got many people from their WoW guild to join. In 2011 Rezzus started making Minecraft maps under the name "rezz" on Planet Minecraft and soon thereafter got Simon, some mods from Theory Crafting, and some WoW clan members involved. The original Simon/Rezz team consisted of Simon, Rezz, Morhora, KevinKool, DonPireso, Zumulus, among others. Simon at the time went by Melace but in September of 2012 Rezz decided to take a step back from the spotlight and they rebranded their Planet Minecraft to "Hypixel" and Simon took on the face of their projects."

Most "history of hypixel" videos often go over quick summaries of the past, then have large focuses on the last 4 years, but your video genuinely taught me something new, like how Hypixel wasn't even initially known for its minigames, but for maps... Thank you for really wanting to tell the full story :)

man this video is so good, hypixel is so nostalgic for me. I first joined the server over 8 years ago and it (mainly bedwars and skywars and youtubers that played those) was a massive part of my childhood growing up. I eventually stopped playing it when I was old enough for people to say 'you still play minecraft?'... which also happened to be not long before minecraft exploded in popularity again which was super annoying. I recently played bedwars with some new friends and it really reminded me of the old days. I don't really know what the message of my comment is lol but thanks for this video, it brought back a bunch of memories while also teaching me more that I didn't know

Hypixel introduced me to multiplayer minecraft because up to that point i had pretty much just played normal survival, but hypixel changed it all. Ah, I Remember my first Bedwars game... I got rekked...
Idk, i didnt saw you mentioning but, if i remember right in 2018 Build Battle got update.
In this update, it got it's own lobby, they have added ranks from Rookie to Master(where's last rank has score requirement of 20,000) and added new, unique mode - "Build Battle Pro Mode".
This mode is looks like normal solo mode with just increased time and bigger plot. Until you realise that this mode has so called "Pro Tools"(a very very niche WorldEdit made by Hypixel) that has fill, copy paste, cut, cancel and select tools. So they basically created new absolutely unique mode of Build Battle.
What i wanna say that i think(maybe you already said that, idk) - Hypixel got popularity not only cuz it has the most of mini-games. It's also due to hypixel inventing some features that no one though of, making it overall more interesting.

Awesome video, hypixel really changed my life in so many ways. It might not every return to the level it was during the pandemic and I might never get those same feelings as when techno was on his winstreak but Im ready to see what the future holds (maybe hytale)

The music you're using is actually genius. The editing and when Tommy came the dubstep music was actually really fitting but then he coughed and got rid of that atmosphere but what I am saying is that you actually know stuff about music and how it subconsciously manipulates you and how you can use that to optimise epic moments.
Very amazingly made. Have seen quite a lot of smaller channels invest a lot of time into video, creating actual tension to lead people to watch it all. Amazing!

I had a similar experience. During COVID (caused by Simon) I couldn’t hang out with any irl friends. I would wake up late, get on hypixel, go to bed late. I found a group of people who were older where I could have fun while not worrying about anything else. Most people my age suck and finding mature people who have similar interests was a great eye opening experience. Eventually they all stopped logging in. Going to college, stopped playing, a few no longer here. It was a great experience for me to be open to the real world and find out that memories don’t last forever. All those bad times throughout the pandemic didn’t affect me in any way. I’m really glad I could experience that group of people because I learnt so much from them. I always love these documentaries because I always find a way or another to relate to them.

i only ever played bedwars but i remember playing with my brother and making friends in 3s and 4s. some of them are friends to this day. i was 13when i started playing and im 18 now. i still love bedwars but it's onky really fun when im playing with my brother cuz of the memories and nostalgia. i remember listening to alan walker constantly while playing bedwars andi miss that andmiss feeling what i did but it just doesnt feel the same anymore. and i was introduced to bedwars by sb737 and gb80. sb the last time i checked doesn't make a ton of hypixel content anymore and 80 is inconsistent asf. its js not the same anymore and ive more and bigger priorities now but ill always be grateful and love and cherish the memories

Dude the youtube algorithm sent me a masterpiece i do miss the days when bedwars was fun... but now it just seems dull and you just sweat and not have any fun. Bedwars was a safe place but now it is so toxic nobody cares about you unless your as good or better than them. I wish we could go back to when bedwars was fun
I haven’t watched Tommy since he stopped uploading skyblock but it’s nice to see him look back on it. I remember him popping in to a thirty virus stream after becoming a bit of a big deal and saying hi, this was a few months after he stopped iirc
