TXR ‘25 is both not too big to fall into the same AAA pitfalls we’ve seen time and time again while also not being too and niche to be overlooked. Truly a breath of fresh air in the racing game genre.
The fact that this Early Access game is more complete and bug-free at launch than some games made by big AAA developers is such a good slap in the face to those developers. This game will only get better with updates. I hope this game serves as a wake-up call to the other racing game developers to finally get off their butts and start delivering quality games again.
its not bug free there is some nasty bugs. my perk tree not working in 4k is pretty frustrating... other people have had uprades disapear from cars and not being able to put anything on it again basically rendering that car useless. i love the game though.
@@mikey22a Yea them saying bug free is a bit of a stretch. I included one of the glitches at the end where a rival just spawned below my car. I also saw people glitching through the ground when hitting the toll booths... still I'd say that its quite solid because its way more polished than other early access games I've played.
What acted as a springboard for TXR was the modding community for Assetto Corsa, which brought the Shuto Expressway from the old TXR games and turned it into a behemoth of a project, and at some point Genki wouldn't be able to ignore all the popularity that the old style expressway races have. And the fact that most things have that 2000s look shows that Genki knows what their target audience is. Drove a lot in the Shutoko mod for AC and TXR was an instabuy.

This game comeback's in the nutshell is that "A Game that we didn't asked but didn't realized that we needed it" especially in this era where racing games are fallen in stagnation, they coming back still with their core identity that makes this series good in the past, no simulation vs arcade shit, just a fun speeding In a shutto expressway, challenging a rival in a 1vs1 duel ala fighting games gameplay just like what this series is should be, remind me with how Ace Combat coming back with Ace Combat 7 And what this is even special that this game released on early access state and yet the overall presentation is almostly like this is a full released game, almost all core features are working in the first day only with less content, this is literally a rare case in every game release development where Early Access games look like a full released game

This game is like a special gift to me as a Wangan Midnight vet that grew past the age to go back to the arcade center. Something about cruising at high speed in a highway or long stretch of road just feels nice. Also they really utilized UE5 pretty darn well.
At 0:41 I believe that Tokyo Xtreme Racer is completely NOT and indie game, that moron guy on that tweet by Alex was just totally wrong to be honest. And to this day I am very grateful that most people still enjoy the TXR games, and even went as far willing to replay as I guess there isn't any good racing game series that are similiar to TXR, but the WMMT games are nearly close to it despite being an arcade exlusve game franchise. Also yeah I am totally had fucking enough of the NFS fanbase as they continually became more and more toxic, rude and disrespectful towards others. And I also give up over keep playing their games plus I might be boycotting on buying and preordering future NFS games plus boycotting on celebrating on the anniversaries on any of its games released in the past.

I guess I might agree but given the now dormant Crave used to own the original publishing rights to the TXR games, and since they're already been shutting down, I always thought on what if Bandai Namco instead publish the TXR games and later on, I was surprised that Genki itself chose to self-publish their new TXR game for the first time in many years. Also Ubisoft also still having little role in publish few TXR games in Europe alongside Crave before Ubisoft even had made The Crew, and not until the Xbox 360 Shutokou Battle game was also published fully by Ubisoft. Then Konami had published two of the TXR drift games in Europe under its name "Kaido Racer" and they even went as far also being the publisher for this PSP TXR game for both US and Europe under its other name "Street Supremacy". And I was pretty much aware of the TXR's publishers history down its rabbit hole of complicated publisher switches outside of Japan, and then besides that I have no idea over why whenever a new TXR game is about to come out, the publishing rights keep changing hands tho.
Don't hold your breath for project Gotham because the team Bizzarre Creations closed after Blur fail and some of them founded Playground Games and made Forza Horizon that is probably the game most responsible for the misunderstanding of what is an arcade game today.
It just looks like most developers these days simply forgot to first establish the foundation of a fun, working game before actually coating everything with pretty graphics and contents, they ended up having to constantly goes back to the bottom to reshape ideas under the unnecessarily heavy burdens of so many stuff that are completed too early in development. You can never make anything good in such a wasteful and disorganized manner.

Tips : If you're still at the start of the game (driving Swift, AE86 Trueno, or MX-5), make sure you don't wanna challenge the taxi driver in this game. You will regret it. 😂
Also a tip if you're struggling with a N/A car buy a turbo car instead because for some reason the turbo cars are way faster than N/A cars even when they're tuned
@williamlim5234 Actually, that's where the gear ratio settings come in. You have to set it for the stronger acceleration at the cost of top speed. Pretty useful for the C1 Loop area, but agree once you got extra money, go for the cars like Silvia S14 or 180SX.
I can’t wait until it comes to console. Everything I’ve seen of this game looks nothing short of excellent (but I don’t have pc, so I’m forced to wait 😭) Until then, I’m gonna do whatever I can to support it. We need more games like this again.
As much as i still hope that Banco (Bandai Namco) is gonna revive the legendary Ridge Racer series, they still don't want it because they considered arcade racing genre market is too niche and doesn't worth it for them. That is why they stick with WMMT series & other game genre like fighting (Tekken), arcade jet-fighters action (Ace Combat), they also developing some anime/manga games like Bleach, Dragon Ball, etc.
For Bleach Rebirth of Souls, Bamco is not involved with the development but would be publisher of the game. The actual dev were Tamsoft, which are known for Senran Kagura & Oneechan bara and Simple series games back in the day
You forgot about how successful they are with gundam franchise. Becoming the Top 3 biggest arcade games in japan with their versus series and the model kits still selling well

The main issue with gaming as whole industry is that, the people on top making the decisions aren't gamers, they are the suits aka financial advisors and corporate stock investors. They need to include someone that is an actual gamer in there so they can have solid gaming advice and not just nickle-and-dime everything.
Is Genki even considered Indie? I thought they fit more into the AA basket. Either way, I am glad that the arcade racing game community at least seems to be reuniting a bit over this game. It's really been too long arguing about which Ghost developed NFS game is the best or if Forza having virtually no progression is good or bad. Also, about reviving old franchises: Project Gotham and Midnight Club are about as impossible as TDU Solar Crown somehow recovering. I wouldn't get my hopes up. But they don't have to come back. I'll play any racing game as long as driving feels good, we have progression and what might be a bit harder to explain, but if I can feel that the developers love cars as much as I do. That might be the most important. Feeling that something had passion behind it goes a looooong way.
imo the only reason why TDU Solar Crown somehow get to see another day despite constantly jumping off the shark with every decision they made is because of consoles, especially PS5 with it's severe lack of open world racing games outside of NFS, Motorfest & LEGO 2K Drive
With TXR coming back, I have hope (even tho probably a slim chance) that other racing game IPs that hadn't hade a game in years could come back (e.g Burnout/Midnight Club) but unfortunately due to EA & Rockstar rn, that just reduces the possibility and yeah, Genki nailed it!

For more that I want the return of literally all those titles you mentioned I find it hard for publishers and even developers to willingly want to spend so much money for series that, even back them, were already very niche. I think that there just isn't enough interested of most 'modern gamers' on this genre to pay up the cost of development, especially if you want AAA quality for them. We also have to remember that TXR is, at very best, a AA title that probably did not cost much to produce, with a lot of re-used assets from their previous title and such. Plus, JDM car culture is all the rage nowadays so no surprise TXR attracted a lot of new players, so definitely not as niche as something like 'Wipeout'. This does not change the fact that Indie racing games have been saving the genre for a while now and It's just sad that most people talk crap about the quality of the genre as a whole today yet they don't support any those amazing new titles...
I can agree for some series I put on the list, but I don't think stuff like Burnout or Ridge Racer were ever 'AAA' anyways. So, those I feel are morely to get a revival. I try to hold on to the small hope that I still have remaining 😆

It looks similar to ps2 Fast and Furious game and I'm fine with that. I like that game although it had bad drift and handling physics, but the amount of jdm cars in that game is so satisfying.
That Fast and Furious game is literally copying TXR's formula tho. The TXR series is literally the reason why that Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift exist in the first place

The problem is that some triple AAA and double AA companies don't care about gender at all because they are too much in their comfort zone for this reason: (Release video games of genres because they are trendy) I'm already SICK! 😡 Of everything having to be FPS, hero shooter, Souls Like etc. The problem is that some companies can't get away from micropayments or releasing stupid skins because it's the only way to generate revenue. BUT WE ARE NOT FOOLS! They are lying to us directly about the fact that they generate income for them and are giving us the middle finger in our face to steal our money. What we can do is immediately repudiate and stop supporting these dishonest and greedy practices.
The AAA scene won't listen. It'll be business as usual, and they'll continue to announce missing sells targets for the shareholders, and make massive job cuts to make up for it. On the other hand, the indie and AA scene will be the new standard. They've been carrying the gaming industry for the past 7 years anyways.
No BS. Stick to its origin roots while making it fresh and new. This is what we've been wanting to see for years. Need for Speed is getting more and more stale with every entry they do, only now deciding not to make it a yearly release. Unbound may have been that good improvement over the years but it's still just another Call of Duty on wheels. Here's to hoping TXR revival makes games like Ridge Racer coming back. Screamer is as close to an oldie we have now aside from TXR but we won't be seeing that until next year and hoping they don't screw that game up and write notes from TXR.

And now with its rival Saints Row has already been completely dead and lost to GTA, I can't talk pretty much about the serious downfall of not just GTA and Rockstar, but also the downfall of Saints Row along with the complete loss of Volition...
@@NaufalHS the problem is that Rockstar Games knows that people want a new Midnight Club but they would rather sell you the Midnight Club experience in GTA using microtransactions than release an actual Midnight Club game. That's like half of the reason why GTA Online has been such a money printing machine: they always add new cars with each new update but buying and customising those cars requires so much money that most players just buy in-game money to get them. And the same thing is going to happen with GTA VI. At this point, we have nothing left but to hope that an indie developer decides to make a spiritual successor to the Midnight Club series.
@CyanRooper The thing is, they can't bring the Midnight Club experience to GTA. The main reasons why Midnight Club is praised & different from the GTA series is because, unlike GTA, which is a parody of the real world, Midnight Club is a replica of the real world & uses real name brands rather than parody ones when it comes to the city environment such as ads for Coke in MCSR or ads for Jordans in MCLA, the Midnight Club having a separate story from the GTA series where it revolves around solely street racing, and the series having licensed cars in Midnight 3 & LA as opposed to fictional ones in the first 2 games & the GTA series. Note that licensed cars were supposed to come to the Midnight Club series sooner, but got delayed due to the first 2 games allowing players to run over pedestrians.
Watching the gameplay i don't get the hype behind new Tokyo Xtreme Racer. Maybe it's the matter of not playing previous entries, but what I see is a PS2 era title with modernised graphics, with fair, but also repetetive gameplay loop and lack of some very basic features like damage model. Like the essence what's wrong with most of Japanese racing games. But as I said, maybe I'm not the target
It's a pretty straightforward and basic game, but that is what people liked about the TXR series. It also offers something much different than anything else currently available. I do like the new TXR game, but I'm certainly not a diehard fan over it.
The game we desperately needed? Nah, that's Midnight Club we desperately need. Why is this game being overhyped despite its downsides? Would people even be this hyped if Midnight Club was revived?
I certainly can't disagree, especially since this series can be confusing at times due to awkward translations, janky mechanics, and overall can be inferior to even the worst NFS & Forza entries due to the lack of actual cutscenes w/ voice acting

Let's hope Midnight Club will be back. TDU Solar Crown is a joke & there aren't foreign brands in this game, so we need Midnight Club back with every feature from MCLA returning, such as licensed cars & special abilities.

Tips : If you're still at the start of the game (driving Swift, AE86 Trueno, or MX-5), make sure you don't wanna challenge the taxi driver in this game. You will regret it. 😂
Also a tip if you're struggling with a N/A car buy a turbo car instead because for some reason the turbo cars are way faster than N/A cars even when they're tuned
@williamlim5234 Actually, that's where the gear ratio settings come in. You have to set it for the stronger acceleration at the cost of top speed. Pretty useful for the C1 Loop area, but agree once you got extra money, go for the cars like Silvia S14 or 180SX.
I can’t wait until it comes to console. Everything I’ve seen of this game looks nothing short of excellent (but I don’t have pc, so I’m forced to wait 😭) Until then, I’m gonna do whatever I can to support it. We need more games like this again.

As much as i still hope that Banco (Bandai Namco) is gonna revive the legendary Ridge Racer series, they still don't want it because they considered arcade racing genre market is too niche and doesn't worth it for them. That is why they stick with WMMT series & other game genre like fighting (Tekken), arcade jet-fighters action (Ace Combat), they also developing some anime/manga games like Bleach, Dragon Ball, etc.
For Bleach Rebirth of Souls, Bamco is not involved with the development but would be publisher of the game. The actual dev were Tamsoft, which are known for Senran Kagura & Oneechan bara and Simple series games back in the day
You forgot about how successful they are with gundam franchise. Becoming the Top 3 biggest arcade games in japan with their versus series and the model kits still selling well

I'm just happy there's been more people who bought the game instead of pirating. It's a niche market these games, But i'm so glad to see the reception for it is only positive and racing game ytbers having either only or mostly positive things to say. It will not be the last Genki masterpiece to bestow us after this response from the community. Vote with our wallets. It might not be the best game there is but it's infinitely better than "Festival Racer nr 58"

The main issue with gaming as whole industry is that, the people on top making the decisions aren't gamers, they are the suits aka financial advisors and corporate stock investors.
They need to include someone that is an actual gamer in there so they can have solid gaming advice and not just nickle-and-dime everything.
Is Genki even considered Indie? I thought they fit more into the AA basket. Either way, I am glad that the arcade racing game community at least seems to be reuniting a bit over this game.
It's really been too long arguing about which Ghost developed NFS game is the best or if Forza having virtually no progression is good or bad.
Also, about reviving old franchises: Project Gotham and Midnight Club are about as impossible as TDU Solar Crown somehow recovering. I wouldn't get my hopes up.
But they don't have to come back. I'll play any racing game as long as driving feels good, we have progression and what might be a bit harder to explain, but if I can feel that the developers love cars as much as I do. That might be the most important. Feeling that something had passion behind it goes a looooong way.
I don't think Genki is either indie or AAA, so yea, they are more in between.
imo the only reason why TDU Solar Crown somehow get to see another day despite constantly jumping off the shark with every decision they made is because of consoles, especially PS5 with it's severe lack of open world racing games outside of NFS, Motorfest & LEGO 2K Drive
With TXR coming back, I have hope (even tho probably a slim chance) that other racing game IPs that hadn't hade a game in years could come back (e.g Burnout/Midnight Club) but unfortunately due to EA & Rockstar rn, that just reduces the possibility

For more that I want the return of literally all those titles you mentioned I find it hard for publishers and even developers to willingly want to spend so much money for series that, even back them, were already very niche. I think that there just isn't enough interested of most 'modern gamers' on this genre to pay up the cost of development, especially if you want AAA quality for them. We also have to remember that TXR is, at very best, a AA title that probably did not cost much to produce, with a lot of re-used assets from their previous title and such. Plus, JDM car culture is all the rage nowadays so no surprise TXR attracted a lot of new players, so definitely not as niche as something like 'Wipeout'. This does not change the fact that Indie racing games have been saving the genre for a while now and It's just sad that most people talk crap about the quality of the genre as a whole today yet they don't support any those amazing new titles...
I can agree for some series I put on the list, but I don't think stuff like Burnout or Ridge Racer were ever 'AAA' anyways. So, those I feel are morely to get a revival. I try to hold on to the small hope that I still have remaining 😆
@@GamerAlexVideos I always thought after Burnout 2 the series pretty much became AAA, especially stuff like Revenge and Paradise but I can see Ridge Racer, beside maybe 7, being more of a AA title quality haha And sorry for sounding negative, just genuinely don't think this victory will change much how devs/publishers view racing game in general, feels like 1 victory among many loses.
Isn’t ridge racer triple A , especially during the late 90s to mid 00’s. The later games when the popularity fading could be called AA though.

It looks similar to ps2 Fast and Furious game and I'm fine with that. I like that game although it had bad drift and handling physics, but the amount of jdm cars in that game is so satisfying.
That Fast and Furious game is literally copying TXR's formula tho. The TXR series is literally the reason why that Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift exist in the first place

The problem is that some companies can't get away from micropayments or releasing stupid skins because it's the only way to generate revenue.
BUT WE ARE NOT FOOLS! They are lying to us directly about the fact that they generate income for them and are giving us the middle finger in our face to steal our money.
What we can do is immediately repudiate and stop supporting these dishonest and greedy practices.

The AAA scene won't listen. It'll be business as usual, and they'll continue to announce missing sells targets for the shareholders, and make massive job cuts to make up for it.

No BS. Stick to its origin roots while making it fresh and new. This is what we've been wanting to see for years. Need for Speed is getting more and more stale with every entry they do, only now deciding not to make it a yearly release. Unbound may have been that good improvement over the years but it's still just another Call of Duty on wheels. Here's to hoping TXR revival makes games like Ridge Racer coming back. Screamer is as close to an oldie we have now aside from TXR but we won't be seeing that until next year and hoping they don't screw that game up and write notes from TXR.

Yeah, I feel like I would rather just keep waiting for a possible true new Midnight Club game instead of caring about GTA VI. And I also really didn't care much about GTA VI because I am pretty much done with GTA. And now with its rival Saints Row has already been completely dead and lost to GTA, I can't talk pretty much about the serious downfall of not just GTA and Rockstar, but also the downfall of Saints Row along with the complete loss of Volition...
@@NaufalHS the problem is that Rockstar Games knows that people want a new Midnight Club but they would rather sell you the Midnight Club experience in GTA using microtransactions than release an actual Midnight Club game. That's like half of the reason why GTA Online has been such a money printing machine: they always add new cars with each new update but buying and customising those cars requires so much money that most players just buy in-game money to get them. And the same thing is going to happen with GTA VI.
At this point, we have nothing left but to hope that an indie developer decides to make a spiritual successor to the Midnight Club series.

@CyanRooper The thing is, they can't bring the Midnight Club experience to GTA. The main reasons why Midnight Club is praised & different from the GTA series is because, unlike GTA, which is a parody of the real world, Midnight Club is a replica of the real world & uses real name brands rather than parody ones when it comes to the city environment such as ads for Coke in MCSR or ads for Jordans in MCLA, the Midnight Club having a separate story from the GTA series where it revolves around solely street racing, and the series having licensed cars in Midnight 3 & LA as opposed to fictional ones in the first 2 games & the GTA series. Note that licensed cars were supposed to come to the Midnight Club series sooner, but got delayed due to the first 2 games allowing players to run over pedestrians.
Watching the gameplay i don't get the hype behind new Tokyo Xtreme Racer. Maybe it's the matter of not playing previous entries, but what I see is a PS2 era title with modernised graphics, with fair, but also repetetive gameplay loop and lack of some very basic features like damage model. Like the essence what's wrong with most of Japanese racing games. But as I said, maybe I'm not the target
It's a pretty straightforward and basic game, but that is what people liked about the TXR series. It also offers something much different than anything else currently available. I do like the new TXR game, but I'm certainly not a diehard fan over it.
