Can I just say as a licensed marriage and family therapist, mental health professional, and child mental health therapist THANK YOU for not calling this “self-care”. I think we need to distinguish the difference of doing things to glam up versus self-care. Sometimes they can be inclusive but it’s so frustrating when I’m taking with a client about self-care and their perception is that this means applying self tanner or getting your hair colored. Thanks for being a you-tuber that intentionally or not is helping teenagers to recognize that self-care is so much more then a beauty routine.
I agree. Alexandra at the channel AlexandrasGirlyTalk posted a thought provoking video about 8 months ago regarding self-care. She pointed out that it’s important to differentiate between self-care and self-maintenance. Shaving, exfoliating, applying self-tanner, etc. is self-maintenance. Some of these thing can be self-care if you really enjoy doing them. Personally I regard them just as self-maintenance.
I understand what you are saying Mindy however self-care can be anything you want it to be. There is no right or wrong. It is perfectly ok to consider self-tanning or applying make up as a self care act, as it is perfectly okay not to too. Self care can also be deeper than that but it doesn't have to be. The important thing with self care is that people are making time for themselves and doing things that make them feel good physically and/or emotionally.

Yes! I always feel like I'm going to make a mess with self tan. Like how do you not get it all over your clothes? How long should it last? I'm a newbie to 😊
I know I wasn’t asked, but for newbies it can go either way. You could use a self tanner gradual lotion like Jergens to get used to it or you could get a self tanner mousse and use a mitt. I prefer the mousse bc it dries fairly quickly and you can put clothes on once it does dry.
@@darby4828 Apply it before bed and wash off in the morning. You shouldn't be applying and then putting on real clothes and going about your day or else you risk getting wet (from sweat, washing your hands, rain, etc) and ruining the tan. Just designate a baggy tshirt and shorts or pants as your self-tan clothes and use them every time you do apply before bed. It should last about a week before you need to reapply. :)
I also do it at night. If you aren't sure about the sheets - just let it dry thoroughly - put a touch of babypowder inside of elbows, backs of knees for comfort - and just wear pj's. But there are several that don't get on the shets at all.
Another AMAZING product that helps you self tan your back is the Back Applicator by Bondi Sands! It’s $12 dollars at Ulta or Amazon. I also have the one Taylor used but the Bondi Sands back applicator is more firm so it’s works great ☺️
I have the kiara sky dip set and what I’ve learned it to do one hand and let the powder sit before you brush it off and then do the other hand while it sits. It helps the colors to be more opaque and even!!
It’s does feel so nice with a fresh self tan! You’re so right about how your makeup changes and you can use different products that you can’t when you are more fair. 💜

I love revel dip powders... but I do not love their dip liquids... I switched to triple vitamin dip liquids and am much happier with the results. The liquids don’t dry as quickly so you have more time to clean around your cuticles and the top coat is shinier! Also- get a clear dip powder to use as a base or top coat. Using clear over the top helps with the patchiness when filing and buffing.

I don't know if you have seen them, but Covergirl has a "build your own pallet" in store (I've seen them in Target) and the pallet starts at $5. It's kind of really cool. With the ELF mascara, I layer it with the l'oreal white primer and it works great. Loved this, thank you!

The new watermelon scrub from tree hut smells amazing. I love the body butter as well in that scent. Also, I always end my dip mai with a clear powder....especially when I do a glitter.
I have fair skin like you and it’s so hard to find the perfect self tan that doesn’t look unnatural. I like bondi sands but the ultra dark makes me look ridiculous lol but I find bondi sands doesn’t last as long as loving tan but loving tan is too orange on me. I have naturally red hair so I feel like you can tell even more.
Try the bondi sands AERO moose it’s amazing and has a more olive undertone. The one hour one I think makes me look more orange but the original one is great. I’m blonde not red headed but I feel like with blonde hair too it can really emphasize the orangeness that I get from reg tanners

Do you ever get the drying of the lotion and orange dots (that come off like residue) on your skin before you're even done? I've tried it many times. Only the first time it looked okay but had to take most of it off. I wonder how long the bottle lasts.
Hourglass has a nice fair neutral concealer in the shade Birch and also a nice pale yellow shade called Cotton that are absolutely stunning shades and you could possibly find a shade that works for you when you have a more fair skin tone! 😀
I've been dipping my nails for years! If you're having trouble with your top coat drying weird, splotchy and matte in some places...here's what you need to do. After activating, wait 2 minutes and then wipe all the nails with a paper towel. Apply first coat of top coat in super quick and thin swipes without going over the nail too many times. I do like 2 or 3 swipes. Wipe your brush off on a different paper towel in between each nail so you don't contaminate your top coat. Do 5 fingers like this. Do not wait anymore length of time. Immediately go back into your top coat for a 2nd layer on those first 5 fingers you just did. This top coat can be slower and more precise, but still be sure not to overbrush! Repeat on 2nd hand. It took me forever to figure it out because the directions say wait in between top coats, but I learned, the first coat needs to still be wet/sticky for the 2nd coat to adhere and give you that super shiny finish! If you wait too long, that's how you get the splotchy matte nails! Hope this helps!!!!
Omg I LOVE revel dip nails! I started using them at the beginning of the pandemic and I have not put anything else on my nails since. And now I'm really good at it so they come out looking just like the salon!

I got into dip powder because you mentioned it a couple times! I even have the Revel kit! Struggled a bit since some are sheer and you won't notice until you've put it on, but I do enjoy the process!
When you try revel try using step 1 as your top coat instead of step 3. It works so much better and it keeps the nails from getting dull. I never use step 3

try mixing the two dip powders together, since one was more sheer and one was rlly pink they'd balance eachother out!

I LOVE the blue Tree Hut scrub. I think it’s called Sugar Fantasy. It doesn’t smell sickeningly sweet. Just clean!

dip powder is the way to go. i’ve been doing my own for years. it gets easier and easier too!
I got into dip powder because you mentioned it a couple times! I even have the Revel kit! Struggled a bit since some are sheer and you won't notice until you've put it on, but I do enjoy the process!

Definitely get the Vitamin C Tree Hut. The fragrance is not over powering.
When you try revel try using step 1 as your top coat instead of step 3. It works so much better and it keeps the nails from getting dull. I never use step 3
