UPDATE: There’s a slightly modified Gen 2 Version now shipping that works with some phone cases and takes into account the big camera bump. So the phone no longer sits at an angle! Thanks to the commenters who pointed it out! ✌🏻
I brought the v2 version yesterday from Amazon as the price has dropped to £69.99 so a bargain now and love it on my iPhone 15 pro max with a case.

Theres a recently released usbc backbone that supports case for iphone 15., printed in front of the box says “for iPhone” and “for android”

@@mr.n476 i think they might have not anticipated the usbc switch of the iphone 15…and i guess they didn’t want to let people know that they fvckd up rolling out their last batch inventory., so they sort of like silently released this ver/gen2 thingy
Seems like they are trying to offload a bunch of the lightning ones. Costco has the lightning version for $70 with a $25 ps card included. Backbone also had this deal on their website, but without the $25 PSN card.
@@charvlim5159That is not an excuse. Most phone users are android users. Android makes up the vast majority of the market and all those phones use type c. They should have announced it for all these users.

I may get this for my iPhone 13 Pro. It’s better then the Portal as you can use any WiFi or even 5G and any Bluetooth headphones.

I have an Xbox Series X, and a Playstation 5. I currently have an iPhone X with lightning and am running the old Black BackBone One with it, and can run Remote Play from my PS5 very well.
However, I'm planning on getting an iPhone 15 Pro Max after Christmas, and there was a deal to buy a USB-C version of the BackBone One for $30.00 less as I bought the previous version. I've confirmed that the version I received is the '2nd Generation'. Are you saying that I won't be able to use this for PS5 remote play because I bought the black version?
It’s a bit confusing, on the product page it says the Black version with Lightning works with PlayStation Remote Play, but doesn’t say the same for the Black USB-C version..

@OttawaZoiks You’re welcome! Yeah that’s probably it! I think maybe Sony themselves restricts the controllers that can work with the Remote Play app. And as this is licensed they want people to use their version ✌🏻

That’s the part that confuses me.
Yep! As long as your PlayStation is on and connected to WiFi / router, you can remote play from anywhere you have an internet connection.
But at home you’ll get a much more reliable connection as the PlayStation and phone are on the same network.

@dior8013 Running wired should reduce latency! But they’ll always be some input lag as the PlayStation is essentially sending a live stream of what’s happening on screen over the network to your phone. And the phone is sending your button presses back to the console ✌🏻

Yep! As long as that game supports a controller. But most games will display ABXY for the button prompts, not the PlayStation Shapes ✌🏻

When he said hey pay $200 for the PlayStation portal when you can buy a backbone controller for $99 and use your phone but the screen is a lot smaller and is more cramped to hold compared o the PlayStation portal
Yeah I mentioned the size difference. The Portal has haptics and adaptive triggers as well so it would be interesting to see how they compare after trying both ✌🏻
However your phone is a much better screen than the portal. You also and use the backbone with Google play games, games from the Apple app store, Apple arcade, Netflix games, Steam, Xbox gamepass, etc. You cannot do that with the portal. The portal also doesn't have Bluetooth capabilites which defeats the purpose of using it portabily in public spaces. Otherwise you will have to spend much more money just to buy sony's PS headphones just to use it with the portal. Also with the backbone you can use your phone's data. With the portal it is wifi only. A smaller screen is a small price to pay when you consider all those advantages.
when apple officially adds sideloading to ios 17 i can imagine this being amazing with emulators on iphone 15 pro imagine playing skate 3 ps3 on that thad be amazing

Costs twice as much as it should for just phone controller accessory, software lock paywall for full service, if your a gamer with system at home get $10-15 controller mount an use your ps5 or xbox controller for even better gaming experience, backbone would be great if it cost $50, fit phones with case on, usb-c connector flexed for better fit but it doesn’t so can’t recommend, 👍👍video
True. $50 would have been great. But to be fair the app isn't not really needed to use device. It is just convient to have. But it shouldn't be a subscription. It should be part of of that extra $50 they charger for controllers that should only be $50

Backbone one version 2 made for iPhone 15 works with Android USB-C ...supports phone with cases

Nope! It’s made by Backbone, they partnered with Sony to make it officially licensed for PlayStation ✌🏻
Does this require a PlayStation to use?
For Remote Play, yes, you’ll need a PS4 or PS5 to run the game which gets streamed to your phone screen with the Remote Play app.
Or you can use the Backbone as a controller for native iOS games from the App Store ✌🏻
They all can do PlayStation remote play, doesn’t have to be the PlayStation version .
I honestly don't get why this piece of junk is getting all this hype, it's the worst overpriced piece of junk, joysticks are so small with vary little directional movement and also feel very cheap, the buttons are so tiny that you can press two buttons at a time by accident quite often.
