Even after revealing his true form, you can still hear a sense of the real Mario within his voice. Makes him feel like “A demon with an Italian accent”, which is a very creative idea!
I love how you portrayed MX here. The way he mimics Mario is super uncanny, yet accurate. Then when he's in the chase, he sounds super energetic and almost even happy. Not because he enjoys your suffering (although he probably does) he says it himself: an easy prey is no fun. And the art really helps with that. "Mario"'s art at the start is unsettling to no end, and his chase art is phenomenal. Again, it looks like he really is enjoying the cardio he's getting. Really like the veins in his arm too. Amazing work as usual.

One thing that I haven’t seen anyone mention yet: I love how the lyrics makes it sound like MX doesn’t even care if he kills BF or not, but rather just wants to have fun. Yes, he’s a creepypasta, and yes, he does talk about trying to torture BF and all, but the fact that he constantly mentions the entire thing being a game, along with the fact that BF would have to retry if he were to die, doesn’t kill or torture BF when the latter is hiding, taunts BF about how he should be getting tired when they’re running the second time, and then laughs even as BF escapes him makes it look like he’s simply enjoying the thrill of the chase rather than killing or torturing people. Seeing as this is a demonic version of Mario we’re talking about, it’s honestly really fitting.

Okay, I've seen this Halloween special multiple times, and I've loved it every time. Everything about this is like eating a perfectly cooked soul- I mean, a perfectly cooked pizza. Your take on MX is super good, it totally slaughtered me with how you recorded two voices and layered them on top of each other. The lyrics were great, too. I loved every second of this. Kudos to you, Juno. Also, the fact that Girlfriend alluded to this in Triple Trouble with lyrics makes this even better. Seems like you can't even emulate a Mario game without facing danger (either that, or Boyfriend is so unlucky that his mere existance prompts everyone to kill him).

0:28 awesome song aside, that art is probably the most terrifying thing I have seen. It sound and look like good old friendly mario, someone who almost anyone would see as an positive, lovable plumber...but there's something off, something that just doesn't sit right, something that proves that whatever is standing in front of boyfriend is not mario, and even less a friendly entity.
Coming back to this a year later, and post MX hyperfixation, GODDAMN is this peak, it gets the corner’s of MX’s personality perfectly, and the false hero section is perfectly accurate, being a 1-1 facade of Mario, with a small feeling of something being wrong. Then MX himself, perfect. Given that we only had the legacy demo at this point, the fact you got him almost perfect is a miracle, this is so peak, now that we have more info on MX, I can’t think of what’s you’d be able to do with a powerdown, or demise cover. I wanna point out my favorite detail in this, which is MX's eyes before his true form is revealed. His pupils are huge, and they make me think of how a cat's pupils get super wide when they're about to pounce. Basically, that one small detail really shows that MX sees Boyfriend as nothing but prey.

I was hoping Bushwhack would be the Halloween special this year, but man, I'm not disappointed in this. The vocals are amazing, and it's the best cover of Game Over I've heard.
Okay, I've seen this Halloween special multiple times, and I've loved it every time. Everything about this is like eating a perfectly cooked soul- I mean, a perfectly cooked pizza. Your take on MX is super good, it totally slaughtered me with how you recorded two voices and layered them on top of each other. The lyrics were great, too. I loved every second of this. Kudos to you, Juno. Also, the fact that Girlfriend alluded to this in Triple Trouble with lyrics makes this even better. Seems like you can't even emulate a Mario game without facing danger (either that, or Boyfriend is so unlucky that his mere existance prompts everyone to kill him).
Did you record two seperate vocal tracks for MX? I swear I can hear both an actual Mario voice and his actual growl at times. If so, impressive!
Yes! The chorus and the spoken word lines have my regular Mario impression layered over them.

@@GSPScorp just proves that Juno never dissapoints. most people throw the fact that he's an evil Mario out the window and give his voice too much demon and not enough Mario. Juno found a way to even out the demon and the Mario easily.
@@PhasonDaLyricist *I never saw MX as an evil Mario, but A demon inside an NES Cartridge impersonating that main character of whatever game he’s in, in this case it’s Mario. His False Hero form sounding like Mario makes sense, but his revealed form makes him feel more like an possessed Mario then A fake Mario. But then again this could have different lore with some differences, this would especially make sense since False Hero in the art looks like modern Mario when he’s meant look like the in-game sprite. I could go in but at that point I’m just nit picking (I say as if I’m not already)*
@@GSPScorp but he's still taking on the form of Mario and hence it makes sense that he'd sound like Mario. similar to how in Triple Trouble with lyrics, since Xenophanes is taking on the form of sonic, his voice sounds like a more manacing and demonic Sonic. and in the scrap brain and hill sections of Green Hill with lyrics Juno didn't really change Sonic's voice when he turned out to be Sonic.exe.

As someone who's a huge MX fan (and a very close friend of his creator's), tHIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I've been following your work for a while and you never fail to amaze me every single time. I really love how MX's voice isn't the typical demon voice and actually fits his character, since he's supposed to pose as Mario. Phenomenal work!
0:28 awesome song aside, that art is probably the most terrifying thing I have seen. It sound and look like good old friendly mario, someone who almost anyone would see as an positive, lovable plumber...but there's something off, something that just doesn't sit right, something that proves that whatever is standing in front of boyfriend is not mario, and even less a friendly entity.

Coming back to this a year later, and post MX hyperfixation, GODDAMN is this peak, it gets the corner’s of MX’s personality perfectly, and the false hero section is perfectly accurate, being a 1-1 facade of Mario, with a small feeling of something being wrong. Then MX himself, perfect. Given that we only had the legacy demo at this point, the fact you got him almost perfect is a miracle, this is so peak, now that we have more info on MX, I can’t think of what’s you’d be able to do with a powerdown, or demise cover. Peak 12/10

I wanna point out my favorite detail in this, which is MX's eyes before his true form is revealed. His pupils are huge, and they make me think of how a cat's pupils get super wide when they're about to pounce.
Basically, that one small detail really shows that MX sees Boyfriend as nothing but prey.
