They would look through songs they liked and she decided wich they should play. Most often he got some time for studying the notes on her computer, where she had downloaded the song. Then they started. He himself said, that she could do the songs in ONE take, but he got sometimes so awed, that he erred at some note. Similar to her video of What is Life that you reacted to on which she added Dylan Meeks on piano. Ivan Mendez, her LA guitarist here, says that she would invite him over to the house. After a meal they would look through some songs, Angelina would pick one and download the lyrics. If Ivan didn’t know the song he would take a few minutes to learn it. She would then discuss with him how she wanted to do it. She would then turn on the camera and say “follow me” and they would record. Usually no rehearsal and only one take. Ivan said that occasionally another take was required if he messed up. Then later she would post the video to her channel. Her guitarist in Norway, Egil Clausen, tells a similar story.

This was one of what I call her 'after school specials'. Since her parents limited appearances during the school year, she interspersed her practices with these 'for my fans' social media presentations, some to recorded backing tracks, some with a live guitarist (Egil in Norway, Ivan in the USA). In an interview, Ivan admitted it was difficult to play for these occassions because he became such a fan, he just wanted to listen.
The most pure Angelina ever! There always has been something magical about her performances; it's her heart guiding her voice. Then he and Angelina would would decide on a song. He would get the guitar part down and they would record it, usually in one take. Her first time in a recording booth she was just 6 and she was reading the lyrics in her THIRD language. at SIX! AJs grandmother was also a child prodigy in poetry and painting and its clear she got some of grandma Merys genes in the language department.

This is a one take, lets do this song, (Ivan had to learn it on the fly) with no mixing, production or any of that stuff..straight up vocals and a guitar and she is reading the lyrics on the fly . The guitarist is Ivan Mendoz (pronounced as IVON I think). Him and that mike that Angelina got on her 12th birthday means you can reliably date her to 12 yrs. The process was Ivan would come over, they might have dinner, then Ivan and she would go to a room in the house and record. They would play with Ivan following Angelina. FYI - Red, this is 12 year old Angelina with guitarist Ivan Mendez . In an interview Ivan said that when he and Angelina got together for one of these sessions Angelina would ask him if he knew a certain song and if he said yes they would start recording. Ivan also said that these session never took more than TWO TAKES ! He also said that it only took a second take , if He messed up on the first one ! Also you may notice that Angelina keeps glancing to her left . That is because she is reading the lyrics .

Her first time in a recording booth she was just 6 and she was reading the lyrics in her THIRD language. at SIX! AJs grandmother was also a child prodigy in poetry and painting and its clear she got some of grandma Merys genes in the language department.

In the interview with Ivan you get a much clear picture of what a musical genius Angelina is from the perspective of a guitarist that sat right beside her and played for her ,I would recommend anyone look it up and listen to the informal conversation about her it uncovers much
Sometimes for some people it's this song and some feel it's one of the hundred mind benders that do it, but two things are true, it's true and there are many! A third thing is, no one does this....ever!
This is a one take, lets do this song, (Ivan had to learn it on the fly) with no mixing, production or any of that stuff..straight up vocals and a guitar and she is reading the lyrics on the fly . This is an absolute "upgrade" of the Rihanna song with no doubts whatsoever by a 12 year old. IMHO!! It is what it is simply put, this 12 year old can out sing pretty much anyone, Agree or not, out ears do not lie to us ever......Rest my case on this one.. Thanks Red

This is one of my favorite home recordings of Angelina. But I love the recording with her cover of "A Million Years Ago" (by Adele) even more (from both a storytelling and emotional point of view). I love this one as well. Of course all of Angelina's performances are stellar but the ones with Ivan, like Stay and A Million Years Ago are just so intimate and special.

From what I understand after their initial introduction, Ivan Mendez, the guitarist and Angelina's family has become family friends.Ivan would be invited for dinner and hang out and at the end of the evening they would decide to sing a few songs and these are usually captured by grandma Mery. They are usually done in one or two takes.❤❤❤❤👣

When you had your eyes closed, you missed the almost euphoric look on Ivan’s face in that part of the song. One thing you might not know about Jordan is that she is a pure empath, and can feel and express emotions through her music without having the personal experiences herself. Also, I love to watch her hands, they act like conductors, guiding her throughout the songs, and they are also very beautiful.

The guitarist is Ivan Mendoz (pronounced as IVON I think). Him and that mike that Angelina got on her 12th birthday means you can reliably date her to 12 yrs. The process was Ivan would come over, they might have dinner, then Ivan and she would go to a room in the house and record. They would play with Ivan following Angelina. These sessions were often 1 take. Some of the videos they made you can see Angelina reading the lyrics which she is doing here.

through numerous takes before completion. Angelina is having one of her 'spur of the moment', at
home recordings, accompanied by her guitarist friend Ivan who is following her lead as best as he can.
This is because he wasn't that familiar with the song, but neither was Angelina who can be seen looking
at a tablet or phone at her side. She is still able to re-arrange the song as she sings this 'single take'
exhibition of musical mastery. Simple, yes. But better than Rhianna's version in my opinion.
