- In this part 2 video, I do a running test and review of my new BAUMR AG 20 Tonne Petrol Hydraulic Towed Wood Log Splitter HPS600. This is a first running test, and I will try to crack some smaller logs, gradually going up in size. Go to about 5:00 min mark for actual splitting action. Thanks for watching and please subscribe to see more in the future!
I have their 8 ton electric version. Been using for 7 years. Best thing i ever bought.
Very helpful video 👍
A strong machine but it looks to be annoying how split wood always falls on the ground. Could a platform be fabricated for split wood to sit on after splitting? Also can this log splitter be turned upright for larger logs?
I’m not sure if I’ll ever buy a big log splitter. A splitter can be hired for around $300 for the weekend and a lot of wood can be split over two days, especially if all the rounds are organised before hand so minimal time is spent gathering them up.
Hi! Thanks for your comment! I agree - the wood does fall everywhere and I have to toss it out of the way every now and then when I have a lot to split. Now, I just park my trailer next to it and toss the split wood in to the trailer. Unfortunately, this splitter cannot be turned vertically. I selected this version because it is much lighter than the one with vertical split option. I agree, in a short run, it does cost a lot more to buy than to rent. I guess, when you buy a machine, it is available anytime you want to use it and you do have some residual value in the machine itself when you own it. Cheers!
It will pay itself off over time. Sure the hire is a cheaper option in the short term, but it adds cost to your wood. After three or four hires consider it free if you own one.
Have you ever tried to split large, freshly cut logs ??
Hi! Yes, sure I have. Did not have any problems either.
