In the mid 90s, Jerry Jones fired head coach Jimmy Johnson SOLELY on ego. 3 chips but Jerry wanted it to be all about him. And he's spent the past three decades trying to prove he can win with anyone at head coach because he thinks he some football genius. And every year they fall short because he refuses to change. He won't relinquish control over ANY football operations, with is why he's both owner and GM, and he only wants yes men in the front office and coaching staff. It took him FOREVER to fire a mediocre Jason Garrett and it's gonna take him probably longer to pull the plug on McCarthy because he keeps the Cowboys looking good in the regular season.
TBH, part of me thinks JJ stopped caring years ago. He owns the most valuable franchise all of sports, and fans pour money and support into merch, ticket sales, etc. no matter how much a let down the team is in the end. Why fret over not being champions when you laugh to the bank anyway?

The root of the Cowboys' weakness is simply Jerry Jones. His ego, micromanagement, and public scrutiny of his own coaching will continue to keep the Cowboys from being a team, as they'll remain without a group personality until they can get a coach in-house who can be allowed an actual leadership position. As long as Jerry is the overbearing dad there, the coaches are only the older brother. When things start to get stressful, there's no cohesion, the team doesn't gain strength from each other, and THAT has been their personality since Jerry starting meddling and publicly undercutting his own people. This team cannot survive the playoffs because their talent can't overcome their cancerous leadership.

Steelers are used to winning tons of close games where they throttle teams with pass rush. If teams stop the rush, or run the ball well they can get run out of the building. Where do you find offenses that can do this, in the playoffs. On the flip side, their offense is nothing special so when a team moves the ball consistently its over.

There were charts all year showing that Dak was the QB who benefited the most from playing teams with bad defenses and bad offenses. There were stats showing that he prefers certain throws. That was the perfect set up for Joe Barry (the Packers DC). Remember Joe Barry has done this before. He was part of the 2018 Rams staff that bet that in the divisional round that Dak could not move the ball consistently if you took away the deep, sideline routes. The Rams were proven right. But you need team discipline, focus and motivation to get past the divisional round! This was one of the most extreme cases of getting our asses whipped by a lesser team! Not because they were that good. We sucked! Nobody showed up to play! That's on coaching! All year, we saw a lack of discipline and McCarthy NEVER gets in the faces of players! Until that changes, we won't improve.

I’d probably say Mahomes, Allen, Stroud and Jackson are top 4 for sure, but I don’t know who exactly I’d fill in the other spots with. I’d like to say Purdy, Burrow, Hurts and Herbert; but I’m still not sure Purdy is any more than a system guy, Hurts just fell off hard, Herbert couldn’t make the playoffs, and Browning was almost as good as Burrow this year which makes Burrow look less special.

And all I hear is that if every other player isn't an All-Pro... Well, then it must not be 4. Hmmm... Out of the last 24 wins which ones were the signature wins against teams that finished above .500? Which is the impressive playoff victory? The one against a crippled brady on his sub-500 retirement team?
And to all those who say: "Well, then who do you find that's better?:" You know who would be better? THE REST OF THE TEAM will all of that money to spend on it! This is a good take. Players have been telling us "It's a business" for 40 years and we just refuse to accept it, thinking they care so deeply about bringing a championship home "for the fans." High schools teams do that. Division 2 teams do that. Maybe even the Tide, since they're kind of all Alabama has on the national front.
But pros? Come on. They lose, look suitably dejected for the cameras, pack up their lockers and go on vacation for a few months. Tell me a guy who grew up dirt poor in the projects or in some speck on a map would choose a Super Bowl ring over 30 million guaranteed and I'd say you're delusional.
This channel is good, but I'm convinced he doesn't understand the true priorities of pro football. Wins are nice. Going to the playoffs is nice. Winning the Super Bowl is nice. But from owners to coaches to players, it's about money. Money is essential. Winning is nice.

I’m sorry, but if a team kills their opponents in the regular season year after year, and then fails spectacularly in the playoffs year after year, I mean this is so obviously 95% on the coaching staff. Obviously the players are showing over and over again that they have the ability to defeat their opponents, but when the big games come and the bright lights turn on, your opponents are ALWAYS going to have top level talent, AND some of the best coaching staffs in the business. If you don’t have the coaching staff to draft superior game plans, AND you lack the ability to adjust to situations effectively on the fly, then guess what - those flaws are going to be exposed and exploited year after year after year after year after year.
Take Dak here - let’s just say hypothetically that Dak for some reason does indeed have a knack for choking in the playoffs…. It shouldn’t take long for an effective coaching staff to figure this out. So pray tell why has the game plan and approach not been adjusted to reflect this? Why haven’t things been adjusted in such a way to give the kid a chance to get some confidence in these big games? This is kind of basic math in my mind - even if that problem was real, there are plenty of ways to address that issue and I think it’s pretty clear that Cowboys fans haven’t seen any of that, yes or no?
I mean it simply doesn’t take long for all the other teams to figure these “fraudu-coaches” out, so the results will be verrrrry consistent - those guys on the field will understand weaknesses in coaching literal YEARS before sports media figures it out.
Look I don’t even watch football religiously anymore I basically keep up with things on TH-cam - maybe that gives me a less emotional perspective? But I mean if this dude is just straight up SLAYING it for the majority of the games they play, but when it comes down to brass tax everything falls apart - BRUH how is ANYONE talking about this QB? Whether it’s the QB coach or whether it’s more coaches involved or whatever man there is a clear failure in that organization at the coaching level and above, if this hasn’t been addressed yet.
I know people tend to freak out when coaches get fired so quickly after losing just a few playoff games, but man there is a REAL reason for that lol. At this level of play, frauds simply get exposed SO damned fast, as soon as they come up against the best minds in the business - and then all the sociopathic silver mouthpiece crap that got them where they are, suddenly gets exposed for the empty nonsense that it is. And they get canned.

Hard to say what it is, but they did not look at all prepared, they did not look like they had practised the coverages they would face, and the way the Packers like to play (the Packers are not a good defence due to their DC). The defensive plan was just not good, with too much emphasis on DBs and standing off and not enough on what the team does well. This is a hallmark of McCarthy coached teams. We watched it play out how many times with Green Bay? They would smash people in the regular season and then not turn up in the playoffs. I know the Cowboys have said they will bring back McCarthy, but he is part of the problem here.

Parsons lack of effort jumps out on film, on that goal line run by Jones Parsons had a chance to explode on him meeting him before he got to the line, with Parson's speed and agility that looks certainly possible but Parsons chose instead to watch Jones score a TD.

The cowboys offensive line has been one of the best units of all time and is largely been responsible for the success of Dak Prescott Ezekiel Elliott Tony pollard and DeMarco Murray.
But they are aging and once that line falls apart Dallas is not going to be the team that they have been for the last decade.
When skill position players suddenly fall off we look at every reason under the Sun except the offensive line the main reason 90% of the time (discounting injuries)

The 1000 yard rushing per season threshold was a standard when the league was in its infancy. With 17 games in a season now, it's not impressive at all, coming it at less than 60 yards per game. 100 yards per game as an average is a more notable threshold, which would mean a RB needs 1700 yards in a season for it to be something to brag about. Pollard's output was mediocre at best and nothing to be impressed about this year, despite high expectations.

It would be one thing if the Cowboys blew leads in their string of playoff disappointments, but if you look at the record they consistently fall behind big early. Idk how with all the talent and hype they manage to come out flat as a board every winter but this Giants fan is not complaining.

People are hating on Dak, but he is a good QB. Y'all need to keep him around a little longer. Not just because he's been playing very well, but he's a leader of that offense. He's also a veteran player and only knows the Cowboys, so he's clearly a pillar of that franchise and team.
There's more to bringing in a QB than just someone with a good arm. With what Dak has done, he deserves at least a couple more years for a chance to get over the hump.
    But McCarthy? Mike McCarthy?

Yep...I boycotted in 2008 when I realized that Jerry will NEVER get his ego under control and hire the right coaching staff that will bring in the right players to get back to the winning tradition! I was hoping more fans would boycott so we could send a message to Jerry but too many don't have the balls to boycott so why would Jerry change if weak people continue to watch and spend money at Jerry World, it doesn't give Jerry ANY incentive to do anything different when he's still making money, the weak fans apparently don't understand that! VERY frustrating! To this day I STILL don't watch the Cowboys and won't until Jerry has either died or sold to another owner, I had to disconnect so I don't have to deal with the expected disappointment EVERY f-ing year!

Comparing the losses of Dallas and Miami is hard. Nobody will doubt that Dallas’ playoff loss was more egregious than Miami’s. Miami had to play in the cold against one of the best in the AFC with a banged up roster. Dallas was relatively healthy, and hosted the lowest seed, and got blown out

    • @kami_in_the_skye
      @kami_in_the_skye 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

You say that as if he ever shook the choker label. I assure you he has not. He beat one of the worst QBs to ever make a Super Bowl in Rex Grossman for his first one, and he was one of the worst QBs to ever make a Super Bowl with the Broncos. Dude was so far beyond cooked for that second ring that the Broncos won entirely in spite of him. He honestly shouldn't have even been starting in the playoffs, because Brock freaking Osweiler was their best QB that year and wasn't even close. Their playoff run would've been a lot more convincing (and *watchable*) with Brock at the helm, and if that D managed to carry Peyton's bloated corpse to a title, they clearly weren't losing with actually competent QB play. The only only other defensive carry job on the level of the Broncos was the Ravens with Trent Dilfer.
If he'd actually done anything to earn that ring with the Broncos (or beat a real QB in Drew Brees the one other time he made it to the Super Bowl), you could maybe ignore the first one being played on easy mode, or how offensively mediocre he was in the playoffs overall. But he didn't, and a strong case could be made that giving ol' fivehead the playoff nostalgia pop he didn't deserve is why the Broncos QB situation immediately imploded and still hasn't recovered all these years later. But that's a different matter for a different day.
But yeah, sorry. Context matters. And the context says Peyton's still an all-time postseason fraud, even with two rings.

In Dak's defense, Lamb dropped 2 passes that hit both hands early in the game, had he come down with both of those, it is a different ballgame, may still be a loss, but it isn't an embarrassment. Still, Dak is not in that elite status QB.
The Pokes need to draft an OL in the 1st round and an RB in the 2nd. They won't because that doesn't sell tickets.

Jerry really hasn’t been a bad GM in terms of roster. Is he a little too loyal to players? (Zeke) Yes. Does he get wrapped up in hype even when a player is a headcase? (T.O) Yes! But there have been several times that the roster has been high caliber since the 90s. He’s landed some great talent in the draft. His issue is mostly his coaching hires being yes-men.
