Slim picked me up around six in the morning and we headed out to the parish, Saint Bernard.
First stop Campo’s marina shell beach Louisiana, for live shrimp to use as bait. We fished at the Katrina Monument for about an hour with no luck so we packed up and headed out the Hopedale highway.
Out in Hopedale the bite was slow as well, but I caught two fish. After about ninety minutes, we packed up and moved on to Reggio. Reggio was not fruitful, so we moved to to what we thought would be the final destination for the day, the Delacroix Island fishing complex. As soon as Slim dropped a live shrimp on his carolina rig, he hooked up a nice blue catfish.
After the catfish the bite fell off, nothing for 2 hours. We were going to call it day but Slim suggested be go to Bayou ST John back in New Orleans to try and catch some mullet. I never caught a mullet before so I said “ok let’s go.”
It was a great day in south Louisiana.
I’d like to encourage y’all to get out and do something. Put down your phones and talk to each other. Just go do something, anything.

I got to get to the East Bank more often. Just too easy to head south living on Hwy 23.

did not know mullet will hit a lure. all the mullet I caught was snag on accident.
They'll hit corn, dough, bread, has to be on top water

I believe I know the spot you refer to. Wes topped there and there was beaucoup locals keeping illegal fish so we split.
