Having a canon mode for the story is something I actually wished for since Odyssey. So that is something cool I guess and the stealth looks actually really good.
For a series about reliving ancestral MEMORIES, it should have been absolutely present the moment they introduced choices with multiple endings! At least Odyssey has a book, and a kind redditor made a post about all of the canon choices according to the novel.
@yoavbenclaudia3073 I mean choices don't technically mean the memories or lore are broken. One can look at them as the thoughts the protagonists had while performing their work and the dialogue chosen would represent what they actually did. The Witcher allows the player to completely ignore the books and Geralt's character to do what they want.
From everything that I've seen, this game seems like it will be enjoyable to me even though I'm not a big fan of the RPG elements. I just hope we don't have to do side mission level up so we can do the main missions. Origins is my second favorite game in the series but one thing that made it hard to play was being forced to do side missions.
The light meter can be found under the current location text below the compass. The crossed eye icon does indicate full concealment, but anything above that indicates granular visibility by how long the white bars on either side of the eye are. This is *not* a binary light and shadow game, and low light *will* help conceal you like Splinter Cell
@@tobascoswe6407 he talks about an option to not have choices in the dialogue and game. So you play the canon version of the game. I've always preferred a more linear story in the AC games, and I always try to make the decision I think makes most sense for the overall AC narrative anyway.

Why don't you understand basic concept of architecture and how parkour came into existence? Unity took place in France, origin of parkour... There's a reason parkour didn't originate from Arab, UK, India, China, japanese etc... The architecture of France building was very helpful... You cannot have unity parkour in syndicate, valhalla, origin, odessey without buildings... It's basic common sense... Just look for dev interview of unity... I think I'm most of all hurt by the lack of social stealth. Not least of all because that is where the irl ninjas actually shone. Most of this MGS and Splinter Cell-ish "silent and invisible like a shadow skulking around at night" stuff originates from popular culture and kabuki theatre. (Trivia: The stereotypical ninja outfit was actually a kabuki theatre stagehand uniform; though we don't know who originated the trope, a "ninja" was often a stagehand who, all of a sudden, took out a blade, killed one of the other characters, and then went right back to being a stagehand again; an ingenious implementation of postmodernism.) And while I certainly don't mind the stealth of the pop-culture ninja, it would've been nice if, rather than getting rid of the social stealth, they had decided to elaborate upon it instead... Example: We've got "recruits" in this game. So imagine having a group of, say, 4 recruits dressed as carpenters or fishermen or Buddhist monks or street performers (disguises and locations determined by your own selected outfit) complete with some appropriate animations for immersion and to help sell the disguises. If you run in among the recruits, then Naoe join in on their activities. And, if you're still discovered, then your buddies help you out in the fight... Not only would it be more in line with proper ninja portrayal, and not only would it feel like you'd be getting more utility out of your recruits, your escape options could also influence how you plan to approach your missions. "Do I go into this wearing the monk outfit? Hm, the temple street is kinda far away and the target is right next to a river, so maybe the fisherman disguise would be better for disappearing after the hit?" Heck, it could even add another layer to your enemies: Thugs, thieves, and ashigaru? Fall for social stealth about as reliably as enemies from earlier AC titles. Proper samurai? Are more mindful and will see through a disguise if already alerted to your presence. Shinobi? They know everything about these social stealth tricks already; you're not going to fool them for even a second.
Yasuke and Naoe remind me of Batman and Catwoman from Batman Arkham City. Yasuke is like Batman where he is more suited for combat and can inflict more damage though Batman is better at stealth and with reaching higher places. Naoe is more agile like Catwoman is and they both can crawl, use their tools to grapple onto high places and spin them in the air against multiple enemies, and do flips while moving. Also hopefully there will be assassin legacy outfits for Naoe to wear since she is part of the assassins.

It seems from what I think I've heard from some content creators that there will be different games in the franchise focusing on different styles of gameplay and I personally think thats a great idea. I think part of the problem with Ac is its biggest strenght as a franchise from the beggining, over the years there have been many different aspects to each game that people find compelling, stealth, verticality/parkour, story both modern and ancestor, the settings and the time period and so on. Point is it will be impossible to create an AC game that everyone is happy with because many of these aspects that in some ways are core to the franchise clash with each other at some points. A simple example is that people want amazing and intricate parkour but it can't be done with every setting and time period without sacrificing, sometimes severely, architetual accuracy that a time period has. So if you create a world suitable for the parkour because it would need to be a specific way but then people will get very mad that it's not accurate to the time period. Similarly the franchise has had stealth from the beggining but also Altair could take on a ton of soldiers, that original counter was op. So you could say you want a dedicated stealth game but not everyone that plays wants to use stealth and maybe they like to go in kill every soldier and chase down the target through half the city. Again many like stealth but I've really seen people that go in guns blazing and its a valid way to play the game from the very first one. The closest we came to having an almost perfectly balanced game was AC 3. Connor's combat was not perfect but it was a solid system for the counter based style with a couple of hidden little things that made it more dynamic like using the bow after countering brutes let you one shot them. Stealth and parkour were solid, you played as different characters, you had recruits and it had an actual modern day story with playable sections even if they were lackluster. It incorporated almost every element of an AC experience but in the end it wasn't that well recieved and was showered with valid criticisms. It was so ambitious and wanted to do everything right but nothing was fully polished to its potential. Truth is most AC fans want different things and for every person that dislikes a mechanic another loves it and its valid, this franchise was all abouth freedom and tackling situtatios how you want to. To their credit they have tried to innovate wich is more than I can say for other franchises. Now everyone seems to hate the new style but many of those people were the ones saying this franchise is stale and repetitive and they should change or die. Watching people talk about AC sometime is literally this: I want it to be realistic, but also it sucks Naoe is so frail in combat. I want different characters to play differently, but also why can't they do the same things?! I want parkour, but also why are the buildings historically inaccurate?!?!?! Counter combat is stale and repetitive , but what the hell is hitbox combat doing in an AC game?!?!?! The idea of having the style of that game suiting the time period and narrative and commiting to that would be great. A time period and setting with tons of close buidings and stealth opportinitues? Traditional stealthy parkour AC game. Oh this setting lacks the elements needed for an og gameplay loop then combat driven odyssey type game. That way expectations are set and less people will be disappointed and the games could be more polished, people will still be mad but that's just a fact of life. And as far as it goes to me within the lore of the franchise I would think different ancestors from different periods will feel defferent much like real life not every character makes sense to be great at everything even if they are assassins from a game perspective I see the point of wanting the same but maybe that's just proof not every concept translates well to every medium. It also doesn't really make sense to have a machine like the animus and only see memories from exclusively assassins, thats why a modern day assassin storyline is sorely needed, with actual playable sections that are actually good and worthwhile.
The only other game that comes to mind regarding 'Canon mode' is Mass Effect 3 - it has a setting that also lets you enjoy the story in a more 'cinematic' way without having to deal with the countless conversations that the game has. In my opinion, it's a weird option for such a conversation-heavy RPG, but I'm sure it's a nice thing to have for whoever made use of it. For Shadows, though, I'm going to use that option - anything that brings it even an inch closer to the OG non-RPG ACs is a win in my book. :-)
ya. im looking forward to it and will be buying it... to an extent I support some of the pushback from the "anti woke" activist types... but its inevitable that they always take it too far.. its unfortunate.
The stealth looks better than Origins so I'm sold. Could be improved but looks like an okay-ish attempt at satisfying everyone. About time they implemented shadow stealth! On a side note, Fromsoft, bring back Tenshu!
Nice video. Btw Naoe feels like a glass peeshooter rather than a cannon :D I hope there will be a variety of angles to combat with her mid to late game, otherwise it will be pain to play as her.
This is one of my most anticipated games this year. I got my deluxe edition and I am ready to go. At worst it's Valhalla/Odyssey in a more interesting setting.
I will say, one thing I've noticed in the previews is how Ubisoft is bringing back the diegetic experience of playing in the animus, from the menus to the amazing new animus corridors. To me, this is a huge factor of AC's DNA, and it's extremely weird how from Odyssey through Mirage, all the overlays, sound design, and corridors (excluding Odyssey) just felt like a bog standard RPG. Shadows surely doesn't feel as "techy" as AC 3, Unity, or Syndicate, but at least it's more present here, but I am curious why they mix and match the science-fiction with non diegetic hand-drawn elements. Any chance we'll get hints at legacy outfits?? Considering how unique our protagonists are, will we see Aveline, Evie, Shao Jun get representation? Will Yasuke get Assassin outfits despite not being one...maybe Adewale or Bayek?
From what I've seen, it definitely looks good, I like the RPG games, and the old games, it feels like they were trying to blend both styles with the two characters, it's not a bad idea, tho I'm still feeling like the game is getting over hated by rage baiters on TH-cam and Twitter, valid criticism is one thing, but hating a game because the protagonist is black or female just feels like people are reaching just to get a reaction to the point it's not funny anymore
Appreciate it how you try to point out what may be a concern to fans of the ol’ good AC. That said, I’m not thrilled by the game but hopefully it offers more than what we can see after at the first glance.
I'm still dumbfounded by the fact that Ubisoft refuses to improve on a parkour system that's been criticized (more like shitted) on for five iterations now. It's not like they can't come up with better, either. Their oldest titles are marvels of coding. They just can't be bothered to make a good product anymore. It's incredibly depressing.
1.Because Parkour is hard to develop. Every game takes place in different settings. They have to make a new parkour system for every new setting and it's not easy. 2. Japanese buildings aren't good for parkour. They have to alter Japanese architecture to make parkour work which they have already done and got backlash for it.
@GG22n there's a clear difference between a movement system and an environment. Just because the setting is different doesn't mean the parkour system has changed as well. They are separate entities. Just look at the last five AC games. They are essentially all using the same movement mechanics. The reason they may feel slightly different from one another, apart from certain timing tweaks and animations (certainly no major changes), is because the environment the player character navigates is also more or less suitable for parkour. Before Origins, Ubisoft managed to strike a balance between the parkour system with the environment, and with each newer version, actual updates and improvements were made. Now, Ubisoft is making sprawling, open-world environments with no verticality and is pairing it with a sub-par movement system that doesn't try to leverage what it can from what little there is within the environment. Hope that clears up your misunderstanding of Assassin's Creed's downfall.
@@KuroHebi I didn't ask that. I already know that. They used the same parkour system in the last RPG -like games because "my points mentioned above". I also believe They are also intentionally choosing settings/environments bad for parkour. Usually, When developers create mechanics of the game, they also make them upgradable but it's not really possible with parkour. For example, Unity parkour is often praised and considered to be best in the series but they can't implement unity parkour mechanics to Syndicate or Mirage because environments are vastly different. So they just have to trash unity parkour and start everything from scratch for a new game to make great parkour but they don't do that. To make unity parkour usable, they have to find a similar settings like Paris. That's what they did in the Kenway trilogy and Ezio games. Now They just choose settings with least fitted for parkour and implement barebones of parkour movements.
@@GG22n I disagree with the fact that Unity and Syndicate don't use the same parkour system. They are basically one and the same, with Syndicate having wider streets which meant that the devs had to implement the grappling hook to make traversing London easier. You also can't jump whenever you want to in Syndicate, but the differences are either subtractive or additional, not altering. Mirage had no excuse for using such a rudimentary parkour system since Baghdad is modeled in such a way that it's perfect for parkour. It's similar in design to the first AC and the Ezio trilogy in terms of the way the city is laid out. The reason why Mirage is disappointing to me is because the movement system in the game doesn't make exploring Baghdad enjoyable. A parkour system "made" for hilly worlds that span kilometers without many buildings is used in a ~5km-wide city with tight streets and countless rooftops. Nothing is done logically.
Don’t worry bro, modders will fix the parkour. Anyways, not sure if you seen Luke Stephen’s’ video but he said he asked the directors and ma lot of the builds creators were playing on were from months ago. So this was just a small taste.
Am I the only one planning on playing this game with Japanese voiceover and English sub😅
This is the only way!
I may do that on my second playthrough. Cool idea!
Love you Master Assassin, so happy your back :)
Good to hear positivity about this game😊
ya. im looking forward to it and will be buying it... to an extent I support some of the pushback from the "anti woke" activist types... but its inevitable that they always take it too far.. its unfortunate.
Welcome back, Assassin🙏😊
The stealth looks better than Origins so I'm sold. Could be improved but looks like an okay-ish attempt at satisfying everyone. About time they implemented shadow stealth! On a side note, Fromsoft, bring back Tenshu!
Good to he back and here anything on Shadows other than delays and hate
The goat has returned
welcome back mentor
17:17 bro just katana slashed a random woman with no armour 20 times and she didn't die ☠️
Not to be that guy but she’s a boss lol, ofc she’s gonna be strong
Guess im passing on this one too 😢
It seems cool.. Welcome back
Welcome back master
THATS cool you got to play early
Welcome back❤
the combat clip you showed is so cool ngl
He's back!
Welcome back mate!
Nice video. Btw Naoe feels like a glass peeshooter rather than a cannon :D I hope there will be a variety of angles to combat with her mid to late game, otherwise it will be pain to play as her.
looks decent, on sale buy seems like the move
Love your video and keep up the great work you are awesome and I hope this game is good
I'm convinced now that Yasuke is there only for the DEI, so I'll main the game with Naoe
This is one of my most anticipated games this year. I got my deluxe edition and I am ready to go. At worst it's Valhalla/Odyssey in a more interesting setting.
THE ASSASSIN IS BACK
I will say, one thing I've noticed in the previews is how Ubisoft is bringing back the diegetic experience of playing in the animus, from the menus to the amazing new animus corridors.
22:45 yooo that pop-in tho
From what I've seen, it definitely looks good, I like the RPG games, and the old games, it feels like they were trying to blend both styles with the two characters, it's not a bad idea, tho I'm still feeling like the game is getting over hated by rage baiters on TH-cam and Twitter, valid criticism is one thing, but hating a game because the protagonist is black or female just feels like people are reaching just to get a reaction to the point it's not funny anymore
Leo K, The Hidden One & Master Assassin … the only opinions I value for AC (excluding my own opinion which is #1)
Appreciate it how you try to point out what may be a concern to fans of the ol’ good AC. That said, I’m not thrilled by the game but hopefully it offers more than what we can see after at the first glance.
Love both old snd new assassins creed games cant wait
5:51 that ui looks so sick, way better than that mess Odyssey has and reminds me of origins a little bit
He is back
ayeeee been missing the vids my boy
I luv your videos bro keep doing what your doing bro
Don’t worry bro, modders will fix the parkour. Anyways, not sure if you seen Luke Stephen’s’ video but he said he asked the directors and ma lot of the builds creators were playing on were from months ago. So this was just a small taste. I was watching the director’s live stream today on twitch and he gave information about the game. There is much more to come 👀
I wonder how much you'll like the "more animus" menues when you have to subscribe to play the games. Which is pretty evident that that's the end goal.
Time to wait for mods to make Yasuke faster at parkour, and give him eagle vision!
nah an embargo had to have just got lifted cuz everyone posting their preview stuff at the same time😭
Yup access media and I promise you they signed some saying that they ARE NOT partaking in access media which is complete fkn bullshit. These simps are 🤮 imagine selling your soul for views and likes. 😂
Guess whos back, back again 🥳
He finally woke up after forgetting how to leave the animus
You're back ....i thought the Templars took you
Thanks for the video. Not ninja, but if you like Hitman and MGS, you should try the Sniper Elite games (4/5/Resistance), as they're kinda similar, and you can do full stealth - melee only, SASO style - if you really want a challenge.
Parkour is amazing idc what you say actually and it feels lot different
So I know you mentioned dual assassinations being back but is it only able to be triggered as an air assassination or can it be done when on foot as well? Sorry if you already answered this just wanted some clarification. Also just wanted to say it’s awesome you were able to see play an early copy! If anything you’re someone who seriously deserves this!! Thank you for all of the work you do and can’t wait to see more content from you in the future!!
first impression after 30 seconds: looks good, ngl
is she actually in the assassins creed brotherhood? and are there templars? that's all I want to know before I buy
canon mode looks similar to ME3 action mode which remove any decisions in dialogue and force everything to the default mode.
9:01 but are the allies assassins or just random fighters
from my understanding of it there are set allies and 2 were available in this version they played and one was a brawler and the other was an assassin
I doubt anyone plays AC in 2025 if they're looking for parkour. There are games like Dying Light & Ghostrunner etc.
I hope the world is interesting to explore & the writing is MUCH improved.
There was actually a "cannon" option in Mass Effect 3
Not sure if cannon is the right term but in that mode you didnt have the classic dialogue wheel.
Funny how Ubishite thinks they can deceive us with the "Work In Progress" on the screen corner haha, oh please, this footage is already the complete game.
About a changing seasons i was told that every hour in game will change but i think after hour you can change it manually in map like you did or do some action like fast travell or change protagonist ( last part is just my speculations but one hour is from Ubisoft delivered by other youtuber)
