This was her first performance after her breakdown, she was shaky but still outperforms a lot of people. Her whistle notes were good and in control, she was great!
I think this performance had one of her most unexpected and incredible Whistle notes. She speaks with them and they sound so beautiful. They practically send chills through my entire body. It made the performance one of my favorites ever.

Do a search for her rendition of this medley during her Home for the Holidays 2002 concert. She performed all the songs that night LIVE, and she was in fine voice that night. Amongst others she did stellar renditions of Reflections and I'll Be There.
She sounds amazing here, I don't know why people are hating. I think if anything it shows that she sings her songs live. She sounds great! I also saw her perform live in Los Angeles about a month ago and she was amazing there as well! :)

even with people saying that her voice was not in tip top shape, there are hundreds of performers who would kill to be able to sing like her, even with this performance
the reason she is singing hero so different is to go with never to far away. Also, She doesnt want hero to sound like every other time she sung it. Chill guys
Who cares if she did not reach the high notes well. The high note was weak because she was about to cry, just look at her eyes.When she goes in you , in you ... I always loved this performance and I saw in in 2001, people were killing her, yet she remained an inspiration. All these perfection freaks are from the devil!
Why the hell did she sing it in a lower octave? I like it whe she sings it the way it was intended. Vocal trills are fine, but singing the song in another octave didn't really sound right.
once again u don't know that she doesn't care about her voice. We don't know what went on with Mariah or if she got some throat infection God only knows what could have happened. Her voice is very fragile unlike MJB who was able to do drugs and still sound great. She put so much effort into her voice to be able to hit all those unreachable notes she wasn't just born singing the high C's. TO say she doesn't care is ridiculous
This performance is a bit of a mess. It's funny, when she does well people cry LIPPED, when she underwhelms like she does here, people still cry LIPPED. Seems she's damned either way with you people.
