    Be great to see more of Dr Shreeve, JEP and Jack Grey, feel like those guys have so many interesting stories to tell and share and you're there with them so if they are up for it, sure you could get some amazing content without having to travel etc. Awesome video, and the current series of relays to Euro XC have been ace and got me through my treadmill long runs this marathon block, keep up the awesome work guys. All the best for the New Year!

    Loved the video as always. Would definitely like to see more training videos as a kind of promo/build-up to the races - feel it would give the race videos more weight if we see the hard work put into them beforehand. The UFC is really good at doing this sort of thing where they give documentaries on the training and personal life of the athletes which helps build the storyline and get more people watching.

      Yeah agreed - for us it’s a balance of making things valuable / informative and also entertaining. There’s a million videos of people running around tracks or up hills… we want to be unique!

    I really like all the videos that you make. The ones I like the most is the race day ones, and training videos. Especially when you explain why you are doing certain things within your training, it’s super informative.

    I really don't think you need to change too much. You already have a good balance. As long as you don't change as a person the channel will continue to do well. As much as the content is important, the honest relatable characters on it are just as important.
    I know it's important to make some cash from the channel but please be careful not to fill videos with plugs, that sort of thing will lose subscribers.
    I think going forward, a chat with a fellow athlete over a coffee would be good to see.
    Race videos are great, no need to change them. Love how you capture the build up and the race and finally post race thoughts.
    Keep it relaxed. Best wishes for 2024

      Unfortunately working with sponsors/brands are the only thing that can make content sustainable! I can bankroll it for now but not forever!

      @@the.distanceproject yeah, I fully understand that. I guess it's just getting the balance. Some of your "rival" channels appear to have sold their souls to the devil. I think the frustrating thing, as a viewer, is you know the person promoting the product doesn't believe in the product half of the time.

    Good video guys. Charlie your editing is very impressive, not a huge difference between that and a major TV show/VT! It's a joke that some other channels have 4/5x the subs you guys do but I think we all know the reason why! Hope SA goes well Cal and I'm sure I'll speak to you before these potential abroad races, especially if they're long-haul!

    i really enjoy these videos as well as the other ones that aren't just race-focused (e.g. the hill and 200s session callum did). also, i appreciate you guys giving a brief introduction before the race videos because even though i run and follow the sport, i dont follow XC at all. knew nothing about liverpool and very little about euro xc champs but the videos were really insightful and entertaining

    Merry Christmas lads, looking forward to all that coming in 2024. Think the balance was great on explanation, becuase even for the casual runner which makes up the majority of runners, most of us dont necessarily get how to running meets work, also the commentary on where you are in the race was perfect. And yeah from a sustainability point of view, to get volume, which is what the algorithm likes, i think youve kinda got to do training videos, and seeing you in the slog, the grind etc will help for the loyal subscribers who want to see the rise anyway.

    • @the.distanceproject
      @the.distanceproject  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cheers Jacob & Merry Christmas! It’s a balance between volume and quality for us… the latter will always be most important but as we grow (and get more funds) we can hopefully do both!
      February plan is for a “banger” to be released every week!

    Lads just show us what you eat in a day as a sub-4 miler and a professional cameraman, everyone else is doing it 😂 top work as usual, joking aside the behind the scenes stuff is interesting, from both a personal and an event perspective. The way you did it at Liverpool XC was class, for example! Keep it up and have a belting Xmas boys

    Happy Christmas both! Really behind what you're doing - and have loved the videos this year.
    Everyone's different right but I think you've got a really good balance and tone of stuff already - I think what this running game needs is your honesty to continue, which I think is great, and differentiates you and a couple of others from the crowd. So while the in depth training videos are great for me (as a complete running geek), as you said they're not gonna grow your audience massively - i think be wary of the 10 minute to camera descriptions of a load of strava runs, even i can't put up with those anymore and have unsubscribed from a couple of people recently as a result.
    I think why / when sweat elite videos work well it's the cinematography / pacing, and the human side - getting a bit of personality from the athlete - I really couldn't give a shit what X athlete runs for a Canova 4 x 5km session in Eldoret really...but i love the prep, the hypnotic patter of the feet and the environment if you see what i mean.
    Tricky as you get more offers and profile and i know money talks, but don't go down the route of rubbing some £40 tiger balm on your calves either please, why everyone thinks the world is stupid i just don't know... :)
    Re race videos - Phily Bowden's Copenhagen one a few months back was an absolute banger - real drama and hype to that, I know Dan's a good editor but get cinematic with it if and when you can - adds a lot. Just keep on doing what you're doing really, just let us all know if you sign a PureSport contract so we can all unsubscribe eh? :)

    for the record I think most people have put the San Diego HM course as being about 2mins quick with the 700ft 📉
    Dillon Maggard would’ve run within 30s of his 10K PB, twice back-to-back in that race

    Love the channel/videos guys. I have autism and a symptom of autism is you have 1 hyperfocused topic your crazy passionate about and mine is athletics. If you asked me who won long jump in 1954, their distance and all about them for example I could tell you straight away.
    I get your trying to build a new audience so dumbing it down, but its abit annoying for us knowledgeable people.
    No hate!

    • @the.distanceproject
      @the.distanceproject  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No worries - thanks for the feedback! As mentioned in the video, it’s about finding a balance … if we reach a wider audience it gives us the scale/budget to create better videos for hardcore athletics fans!

    Great video gents. Just thought, I used to love these videos / series back in the day, different sport but I reckon you boys could do a banger of a video / series with a similar format. th-cam.com/video/Sh9URM0DNDE/w-d-xo.html. Like a 'Road to the British Champs' or a 'Road to Paris' type vibe, following different athletes in a day in the life / day of training, what it would mean to make the team, family life, more of a behind the athlete everyones see's on instagram type vibe. Just my thoughts and I'm sure there's some bangers coming up.
