  • This is the Step-by-Step process I would use if I were trying to break into Venture Capital without any prior connections. If you follow these steps, you will be fully equipped to grind you way into a position at a top VC firm!!! Especially if you actually watch the whole video ;)
    In this video, I share my own experience, as well as exactly what steps to take when it comes to breaking into VC without any connections.
    Specifically, I go through:
    - Why Venture Capital investing is such a great job
    - How to establish credibility within a certain market sector
    - How to cold email a VC
    - What VC's ACTUALLY care about
    - And How to catalyze a full time position
    Whether you're just starting out or looking to make a career change, these are all the tools you'll need to land your dream job at a top VC firm!

    • @jayhoovy

    My only question about this is - isn't the level of analysis expected by the people at VC firms extremely sophisticated/complicated, oftentimes way above what most people are capable of digesting or producing without prior training (e.g., former IB, consultant, corporate experience)? What I see amongst most creators are very basic and first level insights, which is way simpler than those observed in the reports published by VC firms.

    • @jayhoovy
      @jayhoovy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mmm depth of analysis depends on the stage of firm (seed stage is very little "analysis" and more so market / team diligence, growth stage can get very complex). The only way to start getting exposure to very in-depth analysis and even be in the in-crowd to learn though starts with you starting your own analysis and then getting involved in the industry so insiders even get you the reps to get good at the sophisticated analysis!

    Interesting take. I disagree. Consuming content on a topic does not make you an expert. Actually executing on a start-up within the given space will provide genuine hands-on expertise. The best Founders want VCs with real operational experience. The best VCs, often those who get to Partner fastest, typically have this attribute. Personal brand and network are always important, but strong operational experience is your best bet to get into VC. Plus, you will be a better VC for it in the long run.

    • @jayhoovy
      @jayhoovy  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a super valid take SuperKillaki! The nuance here is that this advice is geared towards folks who want to break into VC as soon as possible! Getting operational experience first definitely helps, but there are plenty of top VCs who haven’t operated before like Pat Grady, Aileen Lee and Harry Stebbings (best example of someone who’s used this content method).
      With that being said, if you want to put in the years of hard work operating at a startup etc before getting into VC, it’ll definitely give you more experience!
      I’m just saying that if you want to go the direct route there’s now a much faster way :)

    • @SuperKillaki
