Mary’s Fiat at the foot of the cross is our example of standing firm in faith, hope and love. Thank you for explaining it so eloquently. ❤

I love how opposite the Carmelite view of suffering is from the Calvinist protestant view of the pilgrims (and by extension, we Americans as a whole). To the pilgrims, who believed in predestination, material success was a sign of predestination and poverty/suffering was something to be ashamed of. To the Carmelites, suffering is a sign of God's love (though, of course, Catholics don't believe in predestination). I remember reading in St Theresa of Avila's biography that when she was a novice, there was a very old nun who had a terrible stomach disease that was excruciating and also very embarrassing because of the stench it produced. The nun was overjoyed because she could offer it and because she knew she was close to seeing God in the next life! This had a profound effect on St Theresa.

New Age & false Christian faith healers are so harmful & dangerous too; they both blame the sick person for their own disease, injury, or suffering. While the new age teaches that you’re sick because you attracted the sickness to your own body, while the che

Three years ago, Jesus and His saints called me back to the kingdom. For three years I went deep and drew close to our Lord, His mother and the the Church. I have been given prophetic visions of a great suffering coming in the world. Three weeks ago, I was told I have cancer in the pancreas and the lungs. I offer every once of my suffering and every moment of pain for the love of God and the salvation and conversion of my family and friends. I love you Mary and Jesus for saving me and showing me the Way. Great video. Right on time. .

When you got to `When I am weak then am strong,' I thought I'm starting to understand that now. I was recently in hospital for surgery and I thought of John the Baptist when Jesus came to the Jordan. John said I must decrease and He must increase. And I thought for the sake of my life, my life in me must decrease and the doctors life in me must increase. In the end of course it's a foretaste for death when God's life in us must increase 100%. There's a thing about God's life being in us and that is that this life is almighty. Hence I am strong when I am weak. The whole thing has been great preparation of giving myself to God. To feel it in the lesser thing never the less is to know it's real.

Wow! This is a very good reflection on Father's reflection! And very Carmelite too! Thank you.
It reminds me of St. John of the Cross' 'nada, nada, nada' (nothing, nothing, nothing) is actually because God is 'todo, todo, todo' (everything, everything, everything) 😊

Suffering, when embraced and wedded to grace, gives birth to wisdom, another of Our Lady’s titles: Our Lady of Wisdom. Genuine solitude, especially interior silence, offers the key 🔑 to wisdom.
Heartfelt gratitude for your reflection on the silence and standing of Mary. May we stand and be silent with her in the midst of suffering.🙏🕊

Thank you for this beautiful reflection. According to the USCCB website, the Gospel Reading for Our Lady of Mount Carmel is Matthew 12:46-50. Is the Gospel passage cited at the start of this video from a different lectionary (maybe the Carmelite lectionary is different than the general lectionary for the Roman Rite)?

      Praised be Jesus Christ!
Yes, the reading in this video is from the Carmelite lectionary (John 19:25-27). There are proper readings since we celebrate today as a solemnity.
      God bless you!
