I go to the local Finnish Fair every year. Every single Finnish person, even those in the US, are incredible. They are all outdoors people, they love fishing and hunting. They are always ready for winter here, and always help their neighbors. But, above all, they are proud of where they have come from, and love to share their heritage and culture. Finnish bread is especially GOOD.
Finland is a beautiful country with incredibly friendly people...and they certainly know what it means to successfully defend against an invasion from the east...they will be a great asset to Nato! Welcome!
Many people forget Finland lost the winter war. However, the USSR took a lot less than they'd first demanded and left the democratic gov't in place. THIS >>> The land Russia took, the Finns left and went to their nation. And they BURNED EVERYTHING. Burned their own homes, businesses, farms, killed the livestock, everything. It had been very prosperous. To this day it hasn't recovered. Don't mess with Finland. Even if you "win", you'll lose.
The fighting force of 280K refers to the number of Finns assigned at a given point in time to the wartime organisational units - there are at least ~900K in the reserves of trained soldiers who have completed conscription service, and who can replace casualties in the fighting units. It is an honor to have trained with Finns in Finland, and served alongside Finns in the Middle East. Finland is an exemplar for us, your brothers, in Sweden.
As a Norwegian army veteran, from the northernmost part of Norway (Finnmark), I am very pleased to have Finland - Suomi as a member of NATO. I live 90 kilometers from the Finnish border town of Karigasniemi. Finland together with Norway protects the north east flank of NATO, and I hope to have Sweden in as a member asap. Thank you Finland for joining NATO. Greetings from Norway.
My aunts husband were in boarder control in Karigasniemi about 30 or more years ago, and other places in between Norway, Sweden and Russia. But he always said that loved Karigasniemi and other places between Norway. Also I have having connection between Norway from my great Grandmom, from Vesisaari and Vuoreija so Salut!
Even though Finland is historically very close to Sweden, at least personally Norwegians are deep-down closer cause they seem to be closer to nature, just like us.

Agreed. Putin is an idiot. It was about removing the west from the world order and putting the Kremlin in charge. I also think Putin urged the Iranians who then urged the Hamas to start a war with Israel to distract world attention from Ukraine.

@@Bullen934That's correct. I didn't say the best because it's not possible to say which one is the best of the best, that's why I said an "expert" (Sweden is also considered as an expert of Cyber Defense but this video was not about Sweden). By the way. Those two are insanely huge in IT overall. The US Senator Tom Cotton: "I would also add that the Swedish firm Ericsson, along with the Finnish firm Nokia, are among the world’s few alternatives to China’s Huawei for advanced 5G telecommunications hardware. Key companies like Ericsson and Nokia can help us beat China in the technology race" . Nokia launched high gain 5G Fixed Wireless Access receiver to connect the North American underserved in 2023, and Linux is already used in everywhere etc. I'd say the northern region of Europe is top-notch.
Not only Finland's fighter jets are upgrading in the coming years, also our navy will be replaced with even more capable and bigger fleet. Also worth to mention, about 5th of the population has gone through military training and are in the reserve, going through refresher courses. Finland is one tough nut, as the joint exercises have shown.
If you studied history, when Russia occupied Finland in WW2, Finland’s mostly civilian resistance too over 17 times more Russian casualties than Russia took. Get that, the CIVILIANS kicked Russian troops bums even though they had less arms, and were not as mechanized. Anyway you slice this, from EVERY perspective, Finland will help the world achieve and keep peace. Fin’s here in America are the best outdoors and most active people without question. Kudos to Finland! ❤ 🇫🇮
I love how they focus on what they can bring to the table, not what NATO can give them. I wish my country had a similar mindset. Glad to have Finland on our side.
We Finns have trained to truly fight threat coming from east for decades. Majority of NATO doesn't focus on that as much as we do, that's why we have this kind of mindset. We know Russia very well. NATO has been relying too much on their nuclear threat and has become too blind to other threats (being energy independent, protecting intelligence and electricity networks, protecting main roads and railroads from saboteurs, maritime protection from saboteurs, etc.). Main focus is being energy independent but sadly too many NATO/European countries have been too trusting in Russian energy. Finland's energy and other trade goods weighed heavily also on Russia but that was just common sense since they're our neighbours and we have had long lasting peace between us. Even still we have been building our own energy infrastructure for the past two decades. There has been some unfortunate delays e.g. Olkiluoto 3 nuclear reactor and some leftist politics destroying our energy providers such as putting stop in building more nuclear power and deciding to give up entirely on peat production.
This video is a sales promo for membership. Of course it will focus on what they give. But as one of the proximal neighbors of Russia, they will be among the first to need the support of NATO.
Finns were not willing to join NATO before as they felt that it does not change situation much to positive compared to negative thing it brings, but after Ukraine situation almost all negative things happened anyways so same to join Nato as there was not much to lose.
The most decisive victory of any air force in the history of wars: Finland vs Soviet Union 1939-1944. 35:1 win to lose ratio. Meaning, one Finnish pilot shot down 35 soviet pilots, throughout the WW2, before he lost his own plane. You can find some more interesting achievements gathered in London wartime museum.
What is even more remarkable is that they got a lot of their victories in obsolete planes. For example Hans Wind, awarded twice with the Mannerheim Cross ( our highest decoration of honour) flew a Brewster B239 (the export version of the Brewster Buffalo) from 1941-1943, claiming 39 of his victories in the type. It was already outdated at the end of the Winter war in March1940. Fortunately we got better planes at the end of the war. In June 1944 in a Messerschmitt 109 G ( considered the second best variant) Captain Wind led six 109s against a formation of Pe-2 bombers, shooting down four of them. Wind's streak continued in the days that followed; with a P-39 and an IL-2M on 15 June, two Pe-2s and a La-5 the next day, and on 19 June two P-39s (both of the 196 IAP; one flown by Hero of Soviet Union and eventual 29-kill ace Major A. V. Chirkov, who bailed out) and a La-5. On 20 June 1944, Wind added two La-5s, two Yak-9s and a Pe-2. On 22 June, he claimed two Spitfires and a La-5, with two La-5s and two DB-3Fs the next day. On 25 June, he downed three Yak-9s and two Yak-7s. He was our number two ace with 75 confirmed air combat victories. Wind was considered one of the most skillful aerial tacticians in the Finnish Air Force, and Wind's 'Lectures on Fighter Tactics' were written in 1943 and used in the training of new pilots for decades to come.
And big portion of those air victories were made with obsolete planes like Brewsters, Fokkers... IIRC it wasn't until 1942 or 43 when we finally received modern BF109G's, our air forces were masters with air tactics. Check out our aces Hans Vind and Ilmari Juutilainen
@@trident6547 Brewster B239 was not obsolete until about 1942 against the Soviet I-152 and I-16, which they mostly could put against Finland during 1941-42. But when newer Soviet and Allied types appeared, it was harder and harder for B239, both numbers and performance were insufficient. Aircraft development was of course extreme rapid those years. What was top notch in 1939, was clearly outdated in 1942.
It's said that one Finnish man is worth of 10 ruzzian men. Every war Finland had with ruzzia stands as evidence for this. Finnish men have always been low in numbers but always posses higher quality of men. Also reason why Ruzzian women generally are desperate to marry Finnish man over Ruzzian one.
Its incredible how despite being a nation with a small population, Finland was able to produce several war heroes of the utmost quality. Simo Häyhä comes to mind, the man was the embodiment of 'Sisu'.
I am 50% Finn from my father's side and I know very little about my heritage and the Finnish people and country, BUT! I have been learning the last coupe of years and following the NATO membership. Finland is an incredibly impressive nation and I find myself wishing Id been raised there. The military conscription would have made an exponentially better person out of me and I believe the Finnish education system is far more effective than the US system. As much as I hate cold weather, I believe I could live in and enjoy Finland and be very proud to do so. The homogeneous culture and military conscription gives Finns something in common, everyone has at least that in common; I suspect it creates a tight-knit national "community." Im proud to be Finnish (if only half) and I support the Finnish people and welcome them to NATO and wish them all the best from Minnesota, USA. Thank you.
Finland has a small population with relatively little immigration. This has meant that there are not large areas where everyone has the same ethnic background, which has made integration much easier. Immigration areas are also formed within Europe. Where can I find housing and work if I move? You might move there and eventually you have the feeling of exclusion. But most often it is due to laziness or dyslexia, which are not incurable diseases.
to anyone who doesnt know finland, they are very technologically advanced, they are also very strong in manufacturing like getting stuff made, and very high quality... its like a lower population japan in my opinion economically speaking
Technology wise Finland is at least on a next level compared to Japan. Art wise, senpai in Japan is looking his staff he lost while wandering in Finnish wilderness. And mostly sushi was taken.

I still cannot really believe we had planes from a freaking aircraft carrier off the coast of Norway joining our military exercises. We are stronger together.
From a standpoint of looking the field behind the MG metallic sight, I welcome this alliance from the bottom of my heart.
For me, NATO means higher operational value, as if things go too hot, there is more capability of dealing with that.
Wil Norway support it's fiends by cheep oil&gas?
As a Finn this is the vital thing, have a proper defense pact of the whole Nordic, much love!
Precisely speaking, Finns are Scandinavians but ethnically not Norse people. They're closely related with Estonians and remotely with Hungarians.

As a Finn I agree, I have lots of relatives who moved to US, San Antonio Texas, Washington, Boston, etc. Love from your brothers abroad ❤
Finland is a beautiful country with incredibly friendly people...and they certainly know what it means to successfully defend against an invasion from the east...they will be a great asset to Nato! Welcome!
Liar! We are not friendly. I mean we are, but our "friendly" means we actually make an effort to grunt at you from 20 meters away once a year.
Technically they lost when Russia invaded, just at extremely high cost
@@jkausti6737 That's cool 🤣
They didn't successfully defend unfortunately
The fighting force of 280K refers to the number of Finns assigned at a given point in time to the wartime organisational units - there are at least ~900K in the reserves of trained soldiers who have completed conscription service, and who can replace casualties in the fighting units.
It is an honor to have trained with Finns in Finland, and served alongside Finns in the Middle East. Finland is an exemplar for us, your brothers, in Sweden.

Kudos to Finland! ❤ 🇫🇮
Good to have Finland on board. Love from Portugal.
Very well said. We Finns will do our best for us and for all other allies.
@@ytfehglad to have you all. I think Nato always would have been happy to have Finland and Sweden in.
The most decisive victory of any air force in the history of wars:
Finland vs Soviet Union 1939-1944. 35:1 win to lose ratio.
Greetings from Poland to our Finnish brothers and true kings of the north! Stronger together!!!
Thank you.
Minnesota actually has pretty similiar climate as most parts of Finland. And we Finnish people hate the cold weather too :D
There is no reason to hate cold weather. You only need to have suitable clothing, and then it is no problem.
