I put the same Uni on mine a while back and it's been good so far. I understand the argument of it filtering 'backwards' (inside out) but it has worked well so far. In fact, we took it it to S. Dakota and rode for a week. It performed great.
I feel like if you put the filter up top you wouldn't need to take the box apart as often. Your way looks cleaner and less blocking your view potentially.
Only problem with this is that the Uni is a two stage filter and is designed to filter from outside-in. Would be better off putting it at the end of the intake (outside the machine). Nevertheless, better than no pre filter at all.
I was kinda curious when I first installed it but it is working wonders even filtering inside-out. Not a good representation on camera but it trapped 90% of the dirt/dust when I checked
Could you flip it inside out? Because putting it on the outside the way that we drive is going to make for a very, very dirty pre-filter. One that has to be changed almost with every ride.
