On the other hand, Gentaro does not play with Kintaro at all anymore, perhaps because he is growing up. He no longer fights with Kintaro.

Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAKK.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

Gentaro has grown up before our eyes. What a privilege to have watched this transformation. Though, I still see traces of his boyish charm in his face.
It has been a privilege, Gentaro will always be my favourite gorilla boy. I wish we knew what plans Chiba and Kyoto zoo have for Gentaro. Take care. 🙋♀️🦍🇬🇧
And now that I've an idea of what he will look like as a silverback - I, selfishly, want to be able to go back in time when he was young.
Seasons, I know I'm biased but there will never, ever be another Gentaro!

There was a post dated 09/16/24 (fr another poster on the Momotaro troop), showing Kintaro play wrestling with Gentaro high up on the steel beams. Gentaro maybe had enough and bits Kintaro on the head. Kintaro appears angry and chases Gentaro back and forth across the beams...but it also seems like they are play/fighting like they use to. It was fun to watch them being playful.

昨日のニュースに京都動物園が出てました。ゴリラかと思ってたらナマケモノとシマウマの紹介でした。もう一つはテナガザルだったかも。小学生も映ってて混んでるみたいでした。

How I wish you had discovered this family years ago! I missed so much! And I have fallen in love with all of them! Genki is always on her search for the snack! Kintaro and his little boy ways is always fun to watch! Gentaro is fast becoming a Silverback but it’s his cute little boy face that I find Adorable! And Momotaro is a handsome Silverback, I can see why Genki would like him! They are all perfect! I pray Gentaro will get an opportunity to have his own family. He deserves to. And to continue these good looking genes! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Yes, in the afternoon three rooms are available. Once a gorilla is in a room, he or she is not seen. especially the two of them
My oh my, cute little chubby Gentaro with a blue bucket on his head has grown into a magnificent Silverback with an almost kingly (that probably isn't a real word) aura to his countenance! How handsome! And how quickly time goes by... What possible reason can the zoo have at this point for keeping him a captive wasting his glorious youth away, isolated from eligible female mates and peers to interact with and the opportunity to head his own family? 😢 It's just WRONG.

Gentaro is approaching breeding age and is becoming a moody teenager too. I feel sorry for kintaro, another baby for Genki would ease kintaros loneliness.
So in comparing Kintaro at 5 years old to Gentaro when he was 5 years old...in your opinion, which is bigger (my guess would be Gentaro as he always looked chunkier) and who is smarter at 5 years old? (Gentaro is older and smarter now, but i mean when he was 5.)?

I dont believe they will ever play together. Gentaro is unhappy being a silverback with no females. Stuck here with a family who in the wild he would have left a couple years ago. Its unnatural to stay and he feels it every second of everyday. He is extremely frustrated.
Imagine when you hit 18 if you were stuck at home, couldnt leave and had 0 exposure to the opposite sex. You would be quite unhappy.
