    Realistically most high level QB prospects have this attitude. They’ve always been the best since high school and having to fight for their starting job let alone getting benched is unheard of to them. Alot of them need this attitude to succeed so it’s a double edged sword. They can be all about the team until they have to be supporting from the bench

      thank you and well said. some of these Sooner fans are just clueless about being an elite athlete. I see Rattler watching the game on the sideline and engaged in the game. he is literally one snap away from getting on the field again and that's when the team will once again need him. in order to be QB1 at a top school that player must be confident in himself and believe he is the best on the field. if you don't want to believe that you probably never played competitive football at the college level.

    I felt this from the start of the year, after every touchdown he would thump his chest like it was all him. It's not. The second Williams came in in Texas game, he scored and everyone showed instant team happiness for him, true leader. Spencer has come off as the spoiled brat ever since. Still same OU, can't tackle anyone.

      If you don't like getting benched for poor performance, BE BETTER. Rattler was making some really bone headed passes into double and triple coverage. Not only that but, he told the defense every time who the ball was going to. He stares at the intended receiver the entire play. He doesn't even bother to run through his checks. Rattler is not a running QB and that's OK so long as you aren't giving away the play with your eyes and thinking you can force the ball into any and all coverage. He has an elevated arrogance about himself. He's too busy believing that he's the next Heisman winner. Every skill player has a bit of arrogance, but his is over the top. He needs to grow up and realize that in the pros, he will get benched in a heartbeat for lack of performance. Good time to get his head straight now rather than be the next Johnnie Manzel.

    The league absolutely has to address teams faking injuries. It’s been there the last few years but I have never in my life seen so many fake injuries than I have these past 3-4 weeks.I get it, they’re exploiting a crack in the system. If you have no depth and the opposing team is playing hurry up, it’s an easy way to catch a breather, but it has gone to once ever 3-4 drives to almost every single momentum moment. Witnessed Tennessee do it to Alabama at least 6-7 times tonight. Ole miss did it probably 15-20 times to Tennessee and ole miss did it probably 10 -15 times to Bama. It’s absolutely killing the game. The crowd knows it too. The boos are deafening . It’s not hard to tell when a team is trying to go tempo and every time they make a play the defense is fucking cramping up magically. They need to enforce a time frame on these injuries to discourage it or maybe even make the players sit for a possession or two. I’m so sick of these obviously lame ass Lebron James acting jobs only for them to come back after one play perfectly fine.

No Rattler is not happy he’s no longer the starter but anyone would feel lime that. It’s always somebody who can’t or don’t possess the talent line the person they’re talking about. To be completely honest the kid never really got a fair chance at the position to say what type of leader he would be. He git out there and sine his best and made some mistakes in a fee games but he’s still a solid QB. What do you think other recruits will do after seeing how Rattler was treated, they probably look at other schools before they give Oklahoma a thought. The fans treated Rattler as if he coached the team….. a lot of the stuff he was blamed for was Rileys fault, but we didn’t boo him, everyone attacked a kid who was doing the best he could, but Oklahoma fans dragged that kid……I remember all those loosing years Oklahoma had and because of the fans it could easily began again, because kids will want to go elsewhere.

It all goes back to the Texas game last year where yes okay Spence struggled but for LR to immediately sit him down and replace him does alot of damage psychologically. QB's are already very fragile when it comes to psychology, the minute they feel they aren't being backed fully does alot of damage, and I don't think Rattlers confidence completely repaired itself after the benching! Dude is by far thee most talented QB in college right now and I say that with the utmost confidence period, dude is built for this and the next level. I hope he enters the transfer portal Ala Baker,Jalen Hurts and goes somewhere where they know his value and back him 10000% so dude can play without worrying and scared to make a damn mistake because minute you do the fical fanbase is wanting you benched and booing you and the coaching staff listens and throws in the backup... As far as 'letting the guy play', Riley has to do whats best for the team and not what's best for Rattler. He is under tremendous pressure to win and does not have the time to wait for a kid to come around while he has someone better on the bench. OU would not be undefeated right now if he let Rattler play his way to being better. College football is a business and coaches are judged on wins, not making kids millions of dollars.

      OU's Defense has been riddled with injuries, especially in the Defensive Backfield with 4 starters in that group out. OU had many close games with Jalen Hurts at QB1. I don't know what issues you are trying to point out. Since Caleb took over, they had a HUGE comeback win vs Texas and then they blew out TCU...then there was this KU game. Go back to the KU game at Kansas when Baker was QB1, that too was a close game. HOPEFULLY the Defense will be back at full strength once OU has their Bye week which is the week after this next Saturday when they play Texas Tech. OU has done very well too stay undefeated with all the injuries on Defense that they have had for quite awhile now, and OU having close games in Conference is nothing new. Apparently, most, if not all injured players will be back very soon, and if that is correct that is very good news. OU is 8-0 for the first time since around 2004, and yet there are fans not happy with that. Just look at the struggles Clemson is having...they even lost today to Pitt, and now are 4-3 and most likely won't even play in the ACC CCG! Look at how many ranked teams were beaten by unranked teams, especially last week. Cincinnati barely beat a bad Navy team on Saturday....this season has been a strange one CFB wide, and in the light of that, OU is still 8-0, and they now have a QB1 that will do what it takes to help the Offense score, and help the team win games. Look at recruiting...OU is in the Top10 in Recruiting right now, with more very good HS players looking to sign with OU....and they are really tearing it up with their 2023 Recruiting. Everyone wishes OU was playing better Defense but, they aren't the only ones in the Top10 giving up a lot of yards but, they are still winning.

    • @jaredbills72
      @jaredbills72 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Injuries can be an issue, but to be fair we were winning with Spencer rattler starting as well. Were the wins strong? No. They were quite ugly. And really the TCU game as well as KU were still very close until the 4th quarter. It's more than just a QB issue. Not sure what the other issues are, but when you change one part of the equation that you think is the issue (QB) and are still having similar results (narrow wins against lesser opponents) then that means there is something else going wrong.
      The next few games (Baylor, Iowa State, OK State) will be the real test. All of those teams are solid and have been doing well in the conference over the past 8 years.
      We are 8-0 for the first time since 2004, but I'm not sure that the quality of opponents we have faced so far is at the level that team payed against.
      I do think if we played bama, Georgia, or Ohio state we would get embarrassed by them.

Smith was an a-hole, and assumed it was true because of how I'd seen him carry himself in games and in interviews at times. Then my son and I met J.R. and he was an incredibly kind, genuine person. That taught me a lesson

    Based on what his teammates are saying, he's doing everything he's supposed to be doing as a back up. He could very easily have folded up shop and left the program the day after he got benched. If anyone was an elite high school QB, played a year of college ball and played very well, then got benched after 5 weeks of mediocre play, I'm going to guess anyone would be disappointed. That said, it doesn't matter what people on the outside think he's doing, it only matters what his team and coaches think of him and by all accounts he's still being a supportive teammate.

    Don't pretend to know what's going on with either QB, but Rattler delivered a damn sidewinder into the endzone the moment he entered the game vs TT. He hasn't checked out completely.

  • @RustCole01
    @RustCole01 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    I don't care for Rattler but his situation is quite a bit different than Jalen Hurts. Hurts was shitting the bed in the National Championship game. He was probably relieved that Tua was able to pull off a win after he had them set up to lose. Probably a lot easier to get excited about your backup bailing you out when it happens in the biggest and final game of the season.
    Rattler on the other hand, was a projected Heisman candidate whose stock was steadily dropping. And for a guy with his primadonna complex, it's a tough pill to swallow to get the hook mid-season. Then have your backup save the game by pulling off an improbable comeback, coupled with the possibility that said backup may end up keeping your job. Again, not a Rattler fan but... talk about getting smacked with the humble stick. After Williams balled out in his first start, ole Ratty pretty much has no choice but to prepare to transfer schools and pray to god that he can redeem himself enough to even get drafted. Personally, I don't imagine him being much of a commodity in the NFL but he probably views himself as a top 10 pick.

      Rather naive and one sided view no ?
      Jalen Hurts blew an east TD in that game and spent the rest pf the half trying to win the game by himself. Yes, Tua came and and made history and Hurts was in fact happy he did so, he showed it on the filed, he said it after the game and everybody who raised the question since.
      Apparently you forget that it was Tua who was off the rails and it was Hurts who came and and engineered the huge comeback

    I gotta say, when the offense was on the field he was on Lincoln’s hip pocket. When Lincoln was talking to the Offense or Caleb? Rattler was involved in the conversation. Now when the D was on the field? That’s a different story. Humble pie is a nasty dish but everyone takes a big bite of it at some point in their career. I know!! Played for 13 years. I made some mistakes, got benched and after the end of the game my coach had a talk and asked me if I knew why. I told him how I messed up and that , looking back on it, I deserved it. Evidently, it was the right answer because the next week I started.

I’d find him down on the sideline every once in a while after that and each time he was in the back just walking around, talking with teammates, or just sitting there (with no helmet in sight, by the way). One could argue Rattler is actually MORE engaged as the back up than Caleb was.
