In 2003 I found the workers half eaten lunch of rice and beans in the wall of garage area. We had to go every night to inspect the work at the jobsite. So many things that folks don't know about are in the walls.

This actually happens at every job sight, it’s just that people don’t find out all the time
My dad owns a plumbing company and when I use to work with him we would see drywall installers, granite installers etc pee on walls and drink on the job and leave trash and many things in the walls right before they would cover the wall up
Also when you move in to a new home, don’t think you are the first one using the toilet or sinks.

Squatters do happen and if you have evidence of this, demand a full construction clean again. Before you moving your belongings, when buying models, they are AS IS. NOTHING BUT PAINTING IS REQUIRED. DOUBLE CHECK FOR CHIPS IN TILE AND LEVELING YOURSELF, AND IF YOU THINK SOMEONE HAS SQUATTED IN THE HOME DURING CONSTRUCTION, THAT NEEDS TO BE DOCUMENTED ASAP! I believe that it voids warranty. Not for sure.ALSO DOUBLE CHECK THE PAVING TILES IN DRIVEWAY, THIS CAN BE UNLEVEL IN THE YEAR WARRANTY. IT WILL BE REPLACED IF IT'S NOT LEVEL!

I live in central Texas and my neighbor owns a roofing company said since 2017 he's had a hard time finding dedicated skilled workers and his cost has skyrocketed. He said before his crews were almost entirely Mexican migrants on worker visas but over the passed 4 years he cant get them and the few that do get visas now know their worth so its become a bidding war for their services. He said his old crews could strip and re shingle a 2000 sq ft house in less than a day and now if he's lucky instead of 6 to 7 roofs a week its 3 to 5 a week. He also said he almost never had to go back a fix defects but just last week the crew damaged gutters which he had to replace.

This falls on the main contractor who works for the builder. Some kind of disconnect between the mass builder and contractors. He/She probably has too many jobs assigned, gets confused and can't keep up with all the sub-contractors. A good contractor will document (and follow-up) everything including ALL their dealings with every sub and every homeowner.

Municipal inspectors are not generally the sharpest and they are burdened with too many inspections. What’s the point of inspections other than another way to collect revenue. They are exempt from any liability.

That’s nothing. I had baby bottles under the foundation, Tupperware in the walls, wood, screws, etc left in random places, in addition to an old broom. Guess what, I’ve been thru some rough things there and never lacked for food, drink, construction skills, or other necessities. Yes, it may be messy, but some people are very superstitious and may believe by building it into the house they are bringing you good luck (blessings in the form of the stuffing). It’s a very weird house. Very economically smart, the water cuts down for no reason when people are wasting it, and we haven’t even adjusted the plumbing.

Extending the home warranty doesn't help when it's not right to begin with. Problem is. Home builders don't build the homes. They hire the lowest bidding construction company. Which in turn hires the lowest bidding sub contractors. Which in turn hire cheaper sub contractors to actually do the work. Which leaves you with a shoddy product. Also the home builder has a rep on site. They are supposed to walk the job site looking for things like this. But it's much cooler sitting inside their trailer.

@@truckingwithtobee Swearing at me will not change the facts. The facts are, a number of builders pick up anyone who is wiling to work for a few dollars, outside of home depot.
When a home buyer is paying half a million dollars for their home, they have every right to be concerned with who is hired to build their home. Yes, builders have licensed architects and licensed contractors on site, but the people who are contracted to perform a lot of the services are not licensed and generally not even legal citizens of the U.S. The reason why they are hired is because the builder doesn't want to pay the actual cost of hiring professional workers (because their goal is to cut costs, whereby maximizing their profits).
It is not racist to admit that builders cut major corners and hire a subpar workforce to guarantee a sizable profit. The crazy part is, if they would just hire qualified people and pay a living wage, they wouldn't have to do battle with so many customers for the "shoddy" construction work.

My employer was having one of many construction and reconstruction projects on one of the floors it was leasing. The crew used our break room for their lunches and breaks. Well, they raided our fridge, and ate everything! I saw my container of chocolate chip cookies emptied, and a big mess left behind! But what really pissed me off was they stole my pint of ice cream!! But with help from the on-site security, I got reimbursed for it. Watch your fridge in your new home. The crew may help themselves to some of your bread and cold cuts.

True, I remember when I had a home care agency, I use to have a white friend of mine go Into the home and do an initial assessment because the family was racist, also in real estate, you also have to do the same for appraisals as well, your appraisal will go from $100k to $250 in a matter of races 😆

What none of these videos are talking about is that all the people working on these homes are immigrants many illegal. That "hardworking" stereotype is a lie, they cut corners and do crap jobs, we need actual guys who know what they are doing to build homes.

  • @jetblast1mpmp

What do you expect cheap labor...and a slave mentality.... millions are being made by the builders, bank, and tax folks.... but the folks are running to buy these homes that are not even no where near 400k, 500k plus....why do you think people are coming here? They get a job...do work with little or no training .....

see people, this is what capitalism does. Many major real estate developers are taking every shortcut that they can to cut costs in building new houses. They use cheap material and labor to build houses that are literally designed to break as soon as you move in. Personally, I do not want to buy a new construct as horror stories like this deter me away from newly build houses. It's really a shame how companies put their bottom lines over their target consumers.

America has been a capitalist country and only within the last 30 years have people gotten incredibly lazy. It's not capitalist its women working and people not raising their kids properly and therefore they do not understand hard work and doing their best.

They’re all bad pardee probably the worst one. There was a realtor on Facebook that bought a pardee home in Inspirapda and would make videos on Facebook about how bad it was and all of a sudden she disappeared. Maybe they gave her what she wanted because she was really outspoken and would constantly make videos. From what I’ve seen tall brothers might be the only reputable company in town (Vegas that is).

@Tonya Thurbush I wouldn’t doubt it! Best thing is buy your land and build your own. But that takes some money to buy land then you can get a construction loan to build the house. Check out “pneumatic addict” on TH-cam
