Totally valid point! I was actually going to record a full a/b, but I couldn’t find my kailh black stems 😭😭😭 I’ll be sure to post a vid comparing them when I do!
I'm honestly glad that I'm here before this channel blows up. We can really see the effort that you put into the production, and the passion that you have for the hobby. These switches sound like a great deal, especially considering the cost. There's just something about piecing them together from two different switches yourself though, its very gratifying to try a new combo of parts and have it work out well.
Haha I totally agree, it scratches that tinkering itch for sure!! Although to be honest… been grinding putting out video after video and I haven’t had as much time to just experiment :P thanks for the support!
Amen a breath of fresh air at the end. No gimmicks about why you are here. Great content and the hot switching sounds when doing comparisons is the most useful thing ever.
to anyone reading this - i RARELY, if ever comment on videos to show appreciation. i have a very soft space in my heart for this channel. i enjoy keyboards as a hobby so i don’t understand everything, but i feel like our creators content is SO easy to enjoy and understand without over complicating anything. the entire video is a work of art, and i especially appreciate the speed of conversation, it isn’t rushed or too slow, the perfect amount of content. please keep going OP!!
hey buddy any reason you're not saying any names, almost as if you were copy and pasting this comment on several different channels to farm for likes or subs or something?
Isn’t it more that people love the MX black for its signature scratchy clack that just hits that satisfying spot that no other switch seems to achieve. Maybe it’s a combination of that and the way the materials hit together
Tip for frankenswitchers: Gazzew LT stems make more consistant BCP's and dont have the fit issues of newer Kailh. And he will sell you bag of just stems
When I look at buying these now they come with a 13.4 stem but they send a 13.9 stem so you can replace them. You measured it as 13.6 lol so is that the stem they are considering the 13.4 or 13.9? Do you happen to know? .30 a switch I’m gonna grab them regardless just curious. Thanks for the great videos always an enjoyable watch
Sorry for the late reply! I for sure know that Zenclack doesn't cherry pick review samples, so I think they're the "13.4" but my measuring is probably less precise? HAHA I try not to squeeze super tight, but I think that might be introducing some variance.
@@MakerMods No Worries I just appreciate you replying. I went ahead and ordered some before you replied because I figured I can always find a way to use the other stems in a frankenswitch somewhere along the lines.
Loving your switch reviews! Already made a couple purchases based on your recommendations. Also, you were right to draw that comparison: Subaru uses the Pleiades star cluster as their logo, too.
Subuwu might come from houkago no pleiades - a magical girl anime where the brooms are powered by subaru engines. They have that note about the star cluster being called Subaru as well but the uwu has to come from somewhere imo
My understanding was that the Gateron mizu mink switches were the best franken factory option. Perhaps a companion or a separate review would be good as they are expensive so could save the masses some painful curiosity. Thanks so much
@@MakerMods if they are soldered, there is no need to go to all that trouble for me. I appreciate that you would have though. I think it goes without saying I love your channel. The way you share content with us is fantastic, funny, and original. Keep being you !
@@MakerMods Did you verify that you received 13.6mm stems for the review? Was wondering if the manufacturing error affected the review switches as well.
I think generally long poles come with slightly heavier springs or longer springs to maximize the long pole sound signature, but let me see if I can find one!
I’ll have to A/B them in loose switch form because I soldered my oolooongs into a board, but definitely require much less lube for peak performance! Haha, you can’t go wrong with either but I think I personally prefer the subuwus!
I think the beauty is the bottom housing, which based on my measurements leads to a slightly reduced travel over putting a kailh black stem in the OG cherry bottom housing!
These seem very interesting, but like the thousands of other switches on the market they were too scared to take a risk. Nearly every switch out uses one of two spring weights, 63.5g or 67g. Why...? That is one of the easiest ways to differentiate your switch. I really want switches around 72-75g. I know it is easy enough to swap the spring, but I don't see why you should have to with so many options out there.
I think unfortunately heavier switches don’t tend to sell too well. One that I can think of off the top of my head are the h1 variant that I think minterly developed with cannonkeys, the seal switches!
I believe Gazzew springs come in 72g, and obviously there are always spring swaps. In my experience springs above 70g in tactiles can be really fatiguing if you use your hands a lot for work or exercise other than typing Heavy linears are great though (obviously because in a linear there no tactile bump jump in force)
Imo reviews for switches that are claiming to be another frankenswitch should include a sound test of the frankenswitch for a sake off reference

HAHAHA I hope this isn't a bot because it made my day LOL
There was something about these that made me have to grab a full set of them.
Great video! It's refreshing to see quality switches under that 60-65 cent category
Would've have liked a side by side comparison with the kailh stem mx black. Anyway congrats on 5k subs!
Haha I’m working on it, but I have misplaced roughly 900 kailh black stems somewhere in my room o_O

dude... i love this so much...
i have a typing test video coming soon too... i think zenclack killed it!
Honestly very tempting, I might pick these up for my Ellora65 build with KAM 80s After Dark. Awesome review as always!
Thanks so much!!!

Oooh I didn't make that connection! Thanks for the kind words!
I couldn't hear any difference between stock and re-lubed. Great factory lube it seems.
Totally agree!! It was so minor that I’d say it’s totally not necessary!
I subscribed. No idea how I had not done so yet. Good video!
Thanks for the sub!
my new favorite switch channel. so not good for my wallet though 😂

HAHA LETS GOOOO

HEHE thanks so much!!!
What are those colorful cat artisans you had on display during the typing test? They're cute!
The cat with the pizza is a sculpt from enkeycaps!! The other one is a Rami from Yu.keys!

Are these your favorite stock linears so far?
that's hard to say... i can definitely say they are my favorite stock long pole linears at this price point ;)
What are some of the best long poles with 55g actuation? Pre-lubed or lubed. Anyone got suggestions?
I think generally long poles come with slightly heavier springs or longer springs to maximize the long pole sound signature, but let me see if I can find one!
I thought it was based on the Subaru car as well!
how do these compare to the ooolong?

Weird, because putting kailh black stems (or pro burgundy) into hyperglide or retooled housing produce a considerably muted switch imo.
I think the beauty is the bottom housing, which based on my measurements leads to a slightly reduced travel over putting a kailh black stem in the OG cherry bottom housing!
Do these have a reduced travel distance?
Yeah
Yes they do!
Oh, so that’s how you pronounce it. 😅

Brass is pretty bad plate due to high density. Makes any switches sound dull. At least my experience.
Glad I went in for this preorder. Frankenswitches are so wasteful in terms of money, effort, and switch parts.
Have another vid in the works, it’s like the anti-frankenswitch season these days!!
Usually I make bad frankenswitchs with leftover parts and hand them to my friends as gifts! ( still better than their stock gamer mx reds )
