thank you so so much mr mike, it helped me out a lot, my gear sensor has 5 pin( since 4gears and neutral).. now i need to find out a way to make it work, i guess swapin some wires from the 6 pin connector might help? i’ll keep you posted:) thank u again, bless you😍
Thank you I will be happy to show same tests for kymco 250/300 quads where they have gear control unit that supposedly close some loop and enables starter operation when are on neutral.
Did the chain jump off? If so, it probably bunch up and broke the pickup coil mount. Take your stator cover off and check the coil and it’s mount….in front of the sprocket.
This switch has absolutely nothing to do with allowing the engine to run. These engines will start in any gear. This switch has one function, to illuminate a light to let you know it’s in neutral. This isn’t a “neutral safety” switch.
@@MiniBikeMike aww that sucks So what should I do my Kp mini 150 used to start in any gear with clutch pulled in but something happened and now it only starts in neutral I think it’s not sencing the clutch but I tried connecting the clutch wires and it doesn’t do anything :( I’m not sure what it could be
So do you need the indicator the stator I bought came with a looped red and green wire and not the black peice that the wire goes into like the original one you showed at first can you bypass it or how can I just plug the black peice in from the old stator with no wire or what
Are you wanting the neutral indicator light to work? If not, don’t worry about the plug or wire, engine doesn’t need them to run. If you do want a neutral light, leave a couple inches of wire on the black plug and cut it off. Then splice it to the red/green in the new stator.
Hey man, I have a xpro x9 125cc dirt bike . My neutral safety sensor melted off inside the motor. The circle sensor piece melted in half so the bike won’t start. Sometimes I can get the sensor to touch the other half of the sensor the right way and it starts and runs just fine. Would I be able to just cut off the sensor and ground out the neutral wire to make it start all the time, or how can I fix this without replacing the sensor
I have a 2008 honda trx 250 ex. It starts and runs no problem but the neutral light does not come on. The reverse light still works though. Any ideas what that could be?
Could be a few things….if it functions like a CT70 neutral light. Obviously, first confirm the bulb is good. I’d then check to make sure the light socket is getting voltage with key on. Then I’d move to the ground wire and make sure it has continuity from each end. If all that checks out, something is amiss with the switch.
Hey, so I just recieved one of these.motors and it's needs all new wiring. Well my gear indicator wire needs replacing aswell, but I'm noticing through your vid now, the Allen key and contacts for indicator in the block aren't there anymore, what would that piece be called for me to purchase
@@ultimusstatic It would require splitting the case and opening up the engine. I wouldn’t call it “easy”, but if your engine has a spot for a neutral switch, it’s possible to do. If your engine isn’t setup for a neutral switch, it would get considerably harder.
Hey, mike. So, I have a chinese go kart with a single speed lifan style 125cc engine. The kart will start if in forward or reverse, but will receive no spark if in neutral and, thus, will not start. Any insight? Does the position indicator switch play into the ignition, or is it simply for indication and there is an issue with maybe the CDI or something? Thanks.
The neutral wire typically does not tie into the ignition, but yours may be different. The neutral wire on a Lifan is green/red. If you have a wire coming out of the engine that color, I’d first try unplugging it from the rest of the harness.
@@MiniBikeMike Ok, I'll take a look at it when I get a chance, trace the (hopefully) green/red wire, and unplug it and see what happens. Thanks for the quick reply. This kart has been a REAL headache... wouldn't start in neutral (kids figured out that it would start in gear), then the starter locked up (maybe a sticky starter clutch?) THEN it just stopped running altogether and I think the stator is bad so I'm waiting on that to show up. D:
@@tommyboy43 This engine will….and most will. This isn’t a neutral safety switch, it’s just there to tell you what gear it’s in. It has no effect on the engine running.

Hi Mike great video, my son's 110 cc atv has the same wire colors but I notice the 1st gear pink wire does not light up, all the other wires light up. Any suggestion what could be the problem. Many Thanks
Does each gear indicator have it own bulb? If so, I’d start by making sure the bulb is good and is getting power. These lights are powered all the time, they glow when ground connection is made. If bulb and power are good, I’d move to the gear switch that I’ve showed in this video. In first gear, is it making contact with the brass contact in the switch?
All of a sudden my taillight and neutral indicator light quit working. Could this be part of my problem or could it be a ground wire not making contact? I looked all over for a bad ground and cannot find. Any suggestions? Thank you Mike!
Those two items don’t share a ground, so I don’t see how they’d both go out unless you blew the bulbs or lost power to both places. Have you verified that the bulbs are good?
hi i just got a used 2021 tiking 4 seater go kart with the long shaft gy6. it has a 3 wires coming out of it about a inch from the shifter rod location on the passenger (right) looking from the rear. it is 3 wires yellow, green/red stripe and purple wires going to a 3 way female plug. it wasnt plugged into anything when i got it just wondering where it goes i cant find any place for it? i`m thinking a indicator for where the tranny is? on those models equipped with that..?? anybody know where that goes? thanks
It’s not supposed to get power, it’s a grounding switch. Send power to the neutral light. The ground wire from the neutral light connects to the red/green wire in this switch.
It’s still being grounded. Can you pull the black plug with the neutral wire and tell if the switch is moving when you shift gears? Also, make sure the bulb isn’t receiving a ground somewhere else along the harness.
