    I agree with him about booking a tour guide to any historical site. You'll learn so much from them.

    Ahh that's reassuring, it seems we did the right thing: we also booked a day trip with a guide but without the meal, to give us some time to walk around the city as well. At first we tried looking how complicated it would be to go to Delphi on our own, but we wanted to avoid the drive. We are lucky and will be doing both: starting with a day trip from Delphi (while we'll be based in Athens) and then we'll visit Meteora as one of the final destination of our trip, after being based in Thessaloniki. Thanks for the tips! Looking forward to our trip :)

      When we went in September of 2022, we took the day trip from Athens for Delphi and then we actually spent two nights in Kalambaka/Meteora on our own

      @@alexandriarose2718 Actually quite similar to what I planned as well. After Thessaloniki, we'll spend two nights in Kalambaka to be able to enjoy Meteora to the fullest :)

    I suggest you take both tours. If you limit yourself to the Acropolis and Delphi, you'll only learn about the classic pre-Christian Greek past and may give you the impression that nothing ever happened in Greece after the death of Pericles.

    I was lucky I spent 6 days in Meteora and 4 in Delphi. Of course Delphi has 2 sites plus the museum. The site with the much photographed curved ruin is about a kilometer further down the main road. I loved the food in Delphi town and the museum but the main site was rather disappointing as there wasn’t much left but foundations, but the views were to die for.

    We would like to spend a few days at the base of Meteora and take our time there rather than take a day trip and would like to see Delphi and other sites nearby Meteora. We have already explored Athens on a couple trips so even though we will fly into Athens, we don’t really need to spend time there. How would you suggest we do Meteora, Delphi, and area? What transportation options do we have? Thanks so much! Love your channel!

    Thanks for amazing content. I will be in Athens by this sunday. Planning to do one day trip on Monday. Apparently, the train times to meteora have been changed this month because of floods and the operators are taking the tourists on bus from Athens to Meteora - round trip. Now, that seems so exhausting to be on bus for 4 hrs. Hence, I am planning to do Deplhi in stead that day. I can't do a 2day trip. What do you suggest? Should I still go ahead with Meteora despite the train route replaced by bus?

    You can't really compare Delphi to Meteora because it's two different eras in Greek history. That said Delphi still is a magical place and really worth the visit.

  • @joaquinferretti
    @joaquinferretti ปีที่แล้ว

    I am super tented to reserve the two trips separately (One to Meteora and one to Delphi) because I read a lot of comments that the TWO-DAY TRIP, the stop at Delphi, is super rushed, and they don't visit the Museum! You need more time there. And the price is basically the same..maybe $10 more booking separately.

      If you rent a car (you must), the nicest places are: 1) Schinias Beach 2) Cape Sounio 3) Psatha & Porto Germeno Beach 4) Vravrona (many beaches along the way and the Temple of Artemis). All routes take 1 hour from the center.

    Have you visit Gorëme in Turkiye? To me, Meteora looks a bit like Gorëme but not as interesting. I wanted to do it by myself, but the problem is that I am tired and the daily bus between Delphi and Meteora does not works on Saturday and Sunday so it does not fit my schedule. I saw quite a few special these days (shoulder season) for tours to Delphi half price. Otherwise, I would just take the bus myself as I prefer learn about a destination before and after and totaly enjoy the place I visit instead of listening to a guide and following a group.

    Heh! There is a tour with transport but with audio guide, pre-recorded, so you can explore at your own pace. It seems like a good idea to me. What do you think about that?

    • @GreeceExplained
      @GreeceExplained  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Personally I'm not too much into audio guides coz I feel like you learn so much more when you're able to ASK questions directly to the guide, but if you're on a budget, then sure an audio guide is better than nothing :-)

      There are many daily flights from Athens to Mykonos in September, so you could take an early flight at like 6 or 7am, and then fly back in the evening.
      You can use a website skyscanner.net to find the best options throughout all airline companies.
