  • An UNDERWATER CITY In COLOMBIA - Guatape and El Peñol | How To See It In One Day!
In this video we take a two hour tour bus from Medellin to Guatape. We chose to do a tour because we had just one day left in this region and wanted to squeeze everything in without having to figure out logistics ourselves. We started the tour off with a boat ride to explore the Peñol Guatape Reservoir which sits on top of the original city of El Peñol.
After a group tour style lunch we got on to the tour of the city of Guatape which was really colorful and interesting, we wished we’d had longer to relax in this little place and wished we could stay for a night or two.
Finally we made our way over to the famous La Piedra del Peñol or Guatape rock to climb to the top and take in the views of the waterways that now cover the old town of El Peñol. It’s such a unique place with the positioning of the rock right next to the reservoir giving a perfect view of what was once a bustling place and now completely underwater all that can be seen is a cross from a church.

A British couple from just outside London, England. We got married in 2018 and decided instead of a honeymoon we’d travel the world together. We saved money and travel points, quit our jobs, rented our house out and boarded a one way flight in 2020. We started this TH-cam channel to share our experiences with friends, family and anyone who plans to travel to the places we’re visiting. We leave TKT tips/facts in our vlogs to give information that we wish we’d had before visiting. We hope you find our content fun & useful :)

What a colourful town! Lovely to see.
The lakes are stunningly beautiful, esp from above / incredible views.
    Loved it!
Wow…You did so well to climb all those steps in 10 mins …impressive!
Wondered if they did underwater dives to see the old city?
    Thankyou great to see.

That's an interesting idea, underwater dives to see it! We would have loved to do that but no idea if the water is safe to go in as we didn't see anyone swim in it. Also the water did look pretty murky, guessing it's due to the fact it's water placed on top of land rather than naturally occuring. Great idea though, would be lovely to swim after the climb 😅

It's crazy but it makes a beautiful view and a lot of hydroelectricity for Colombia!

What a vibrant city! With those ice cream prices I think I'd be having a lot of it 😆 I like that they had the number of stairs identified on the way up to the view.

We ate so much ice cream in Colombia, actually in South America as a whole 😋

You are lovely couple. Great video, wonder why your channel is under rated. You deserve more viewers. Thanks for nice video.

Thank you, we don't always post every week so the algorithm doesn't love that but we are travelling and sharing as often as we can manage whilst working too. More viewers would be lovely but we just don't have time to please the algorithm every week. Thank you for watching and we're glad you enjoyed it!
