History may brand me traitor, rebel or renegade but in the end. It doesnt matter how history remembers me. Once an assassin. Now there hunter. Killing those I once called my brothers Hell may welcome men like me but I go there proudly. Knowing that I have done the right thing. -- Shay Patrick Cormac
Technically, Haytham did the same thing. He knew that the Templar Grand Master, Reginald Birch, abducted him forcefully from his family, but even then, Haytham remained a Templar, because he believed in their cause, and even then, he did not take kindly to finding out about what Birch did (Haytham kills him in the Forsaken book and takes over as the Grand Master). Though Haytham isn't really a protagonist unless you count the first few sequences from AC3.
I think Shay is one of the most underrated characters in Assassins Creed. I know that a lot of people simply hated him because of his alliance with the Templars. But Shay is far more complex than that. He fights for his convictions and choose to not blindly follows the Creed and for that he is called a traitor. He doesn't want to kill his fellow companions. All he wants is to stop Achilles. It's a shame that they can't just talk. A shame that Achilles hasn't listened Shay. This game is kinda painful, especially the part with Hope and Liam. And I will always regret that Ubisoft choose to prefer the developpement of Unity rather Rogue. The game had so much potential
I agree. The brotherhood was just acting like templars did in the other games, Achilles wanted to enforce "peace" and didn't care if many died for the greater good. The others should just have listened to shay. In the and Achilles may understand Shay (when Liams wants to shoot Shay he tries to stop him) and when Conor chase the templars Achilles tells him to not "destroty the world triyng to save it" so I think he understood his mistakes.
i absolutely loved rouge. It shows the assassins and templars are just two sides of the same coin. Personally i welcome more games from the templars point of view
James Anderson I agree, there was so much hatred on Rogue but that became a better game than Unity. Shame Rogue didn't get the attention it deserves. Haytham is a great character. Shay is too. Great story. Altair, Ezio and other assassins did as they were told but Shay sort of like stopped what he was doing and asked if he was on the good side and questioned it.
James Anderson sure haytam started freeing the indian tribe at the start of AC3 but then he turned bad(ordered the boston masacre and the killing of his own son rathonaketon) . Shay also starts fighting the assasins for the inocents people the earthquake took but then he turned bad (killing arno's father). In conclusion I think power can corrupt people even good people . but you dont see the assasins do most times bad things like templars
Fernando lopez soria The massacre was created to help ignite the revolution (the Templars wanted a revolution to create their own nation, but Connor let the people decide their own future, but we all know how that went) and he was being a dick to Connor, besides he teamed up with him half way through the game. Shay at the end just wanted to retrieve the Precursor Box for the Templars because that was the last mission Haytham gave him, it just so happened to be Arno's father.
Brickman274 Actually the templars in the colonies didn't want a revolution Haytham was mad at connor because he helped the americans starting a war. Later Haytham wanted that America was free from British influence because the Americans won many battles. Where more power is the templars are there Sorry for my bad English XD
yes, ubisoft really shold. i means we can see the story unfolding from a templar point of view making both sides has a big character we played. they rushed this game so much even though shay has a really big potential. is it just me or ubisoft really afraid to making a templar is right too, i means i get their ideology and the history prooven that some country united not in the banner of democrasy but in the hand of empire. So why cant both sides can be potrait as people that believes in justice. i mean look at the latest game when they actully success in spliting the fandom into assassin supporter and templar supporter, making crawfor starick the 100 percent bad guy cliche united in one character. come on ubisoft we know you can make much more interesting character than this. let the fan actully split in two in which side they think is right and that is the proof of good quality character.
The problem with Shay's philosophy is that eventually he will take away the freedom of the people & give their asses in the hands of politicians - this is what the templar represent - a world order who will control you. So, if a politician is raping your 3 year old child - you can't do anything until some one slits Shay's Throat. Hence, my creed **extends his hidden blade**
Despite the fact that Shay is a Templar, he actually prefers being independent for the most part, at least from what i've seen. After the events of Rogue, he doesn't help the Colonial Rite and instead goes to kill Charles Dorian, then goes back to America and starts a family rather than helping De La Serre's and Germain's French Rites. We do know Shay has a son (nameless) and that the son has his own son (who is named Cudgel Cormac), both who are trained by Shay and who become very dangerous Templars (almost as dangerous as Shay himself, considering that info on Cudgel does say that he was feared). We do not know how Shay dies (if he's killed by someone or something, or dies due to age), but we do know he has lived for a while, considering he does become a grandfather, which is pretty impressive considering Connor destroyed the Colonial Rite of the Templar Order, so the Assassins are pretty much running the place again.
I must say that playing through the ending of Rogue after having played Unity was an insane experience. I didn't expect it at all and hearing Shay's speach at the end was perfect. Rogue is for sure one of the best AC games story wise, in my opinion. Even though Shay may be a templar he is the kindest and most selfless character in the franchise. His only interest is in the greater good, no matter what he has to go through.
***** Yeah, Connor is probably the most selfless tbh. Even though his own life is pretty much shit; being threatend by Lee in the forest as just a kid, seeing his mother die, having to kill his own father, having to kill his best friend, being sent to jail and almost getting hanged for something he hadn't done, etc. Despite all that, he struggled on to bring freedom to the people and stop the templars.
Agreed. They shouldn't have worked on Unity and Rogue at the same time, and just release Rogue only. That way, Rogue would have been longer (in terms of story, it was good story, but short), and Unity wouldn't have been bugged at launch.
+Eathos The only thing we know about Shay's later life is that after killing Charles Dorian, he returned to America and started a Templar family. He had 2 notable descendants, a nameless son, and a grandson named Cudgel Cormac, both almost as skilled as Shay himself (considering he trained them).
It was too short for me. Everything felt rushed and never gave a shit when I had to kill my former colleagues cause the game never made me built a connection with them. Except Adewale. I really didn't want to kill him. :(
Jordan J I wish it was longer, and unity shorter. Cormac made me agree with the Templars of old. (Not the abstergo ones) Shay only ever wanted to protect the innocent
I'm surprised that Ubisoft haven't hired you guys yet, you clearly make trailers 10 times better than them. And that ending :O Great work, ACU (WhiteRoom) :) Shay is my 3rd best character in the series and ACRogue is my 3rd best AC game to date, such a pity that Ubisoft Montreal turned a blind eye to it, if they had made this game 2014's main AC game (and actually worked hard) on it and AC Unity 2015's main AC game, it would've been better........for both games.

Thank you. I've been waiting for this since the game release. Your tributes are the best. I don't undderstand why you didn't do a tribute for Shay, but finally here it is.
Many of you requested a tribute to Shay and it's finally here. Have fun ! And as always, feedbacks about the video or requests for future montages are welcome :)
I absolutely love this video as Assassins Creed Rogue is my 2nd favorite AC game. I recently discovered your channel and love all the videos! I watch them often and thanks for the awesome videos! Keep it up please :)
I LOVE your Assassin's Creed videos! They're amazing. I especially love this one, with Shay being one of my favorite characters of the series. The only bit bothering me about this video is the fact that Colonel Monro was, pretty much, completely dismissed. Unfortunately he's being forgotten and overshadowed by Haytham quite often, despite being a really great character himself. He was an honest and kind man and the very embodiment of what a Templar should be like. He was also the biggest influence on Shay and responsible that Shay started to see the conflict from a different point of view in the first place. Monro really needs more appreciation. It's really unfortunate Ubisoft killed him off so soon. But they tend to do that with all the interesting characters. Anyway, my apologize for the random rant, I just really wished to get this off my chest and I figured this being the best spot for it since there are so many Shay-enthusiasts around. Again, amazing video! I'm looking forward to your work in the future! :)
History may brand me traitor, rebelor renegade .Once and assassin now there persue, hunting down those that once I called my brothers. But in the end it doesnt matters how history remembers me. Hell may have a special place for traitors like me, but i go there proudly knowing that I have made the right decision. -Shay Patric Cormac
actually there is no bad guys here, assassins and templars are just different team both of side have a same vision the peace of world and they're just a tools of juno i think juno will be the last boss from assassins creed game
Hey JoJi there are two worlds you can get. One where it is mostly peace and order with little to no death and corruption, but people aren't as free as they could be and live in an ordered world with little to no personality. The other is freedom which is what today is or at least the closest it can get to freedom. Assassins try to free people. But freedom brings drugs, murder, crimes, death and corruption along with happiness and life and personality. It's just a matter of what world you want.
@Suave Man finally people that get the meaning of the war between assassin and templar without insulting one of the two. and i hope ubisoft keep making the story and this time giving the choice to us the character, i want to make my own path and which side we are going to believe. i mean both sided has pro and contra, so give us he choice.
You know what? I always thought that Shay in the end started a third movement, it's own to help people and some sort of a third line that goes against both sides might be interesting
Rogue’s story was really interesting but it was very short and Ubisoft missed the opportunity to further develop both the story and the game overall. They could have given Shay a sequel or added more storyline missions at least.
Ubisoft should’ve focused on Shay more, a trilogy of games beard on the Templars perspective would’ve changed the franchise as a whole adding so much more lore to the Templars, it’s a shame so many people hate this absolute gem of an Assassins Creed game.
The Arno's tribute was more touching but it's the lore that make it so. It's an amazing montage, I ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO WATCH YOUR VIDEOS! Keep doing your thing :D
Assassin's Creed Univers I don't know, Shay had to kill his old friends and allies, a process that was painful for him to do but he felt he had to do it. With all the people Shay had gotten killed in Lisbon, he knew the assassins could not continue with what they were doing.
arbknight12 It could be such a great game! Imagine it set during the napoleonic wars. We would start out the game as Arno. He wouldn't be an assassin but still have his gear. And he would be a traveler roaming around france. Now at some point in the game Arno would get involved in the war and that would lead him back to the assassins where he'd then meet Connor who'd been called to europe since he at this point would be the american assassin mentor. Arno would be in his mid-thirties and connor would be around the age of 50-60. The game would be heavily based on the relationship between Arno and Connor as they are pretty different characters ut with very similar losses in their history. There would be heavy tension and conflict between the two but eventually they'd learn to respect one another. And in this game we would also meet Shay who would be an old man at this point. This meeting would be awesome as Shay has a strong bond to both characters past. In the game you'd obviously be able to play as both Arno and Connor and the game would be set in france and England mostly around the great canal. This is actually litterally just from the top of my head. What do you think?
Assassins Creed Syndicate stars two assassin twins that u can switch back and forth from GTA style (they're twins so they share DNA). I want a stand alone expansion where u play as Connor and Avelin and pre-Civil War America. :)
Also, Ubisoft has claimed to have learned their lesson and despite having two playable characters, Syndicate will not offer any form of co-op or multiplayer. :(
Jordan Jolivette Personally i think this is a good thing. But that's just because none of my friends play assassins creed so I don't have anyone to play it with anyway
Sometimes you assume the people you work with, the people you are friends with, are always there to support you and never turn your backs upon you, but then one day you realized it was all wrong. People keep saying Shay is a traitor for betraying the Assassins, but if I were Shay I would do the same as well, here's why. Shay was actually a very loyal warrior to the Colonial Brotherhood of Assassins, he followed the three tenets which Assassins like Altair and Ezio lived by, and was very faithful to his friends, Achilles, Liam and many more. But that day where he was on a mission to find the Precursor site in Lisbon, he was tricked. He had to escape Lisbon realizing an earthquake has awaken in Lisbon, much worse he realizes the Colonial Assassins did it, his own family and friends. According to Wikipedia, the amount of people killed in the 1755 Lisbon earthquake was between 10 000 and 100 000 deaths, and considering the Assassins did it, they broke one of the tenets of the Creed very badly: "Stay your Blade from the Flesh of the Innocent". Assassins killing hundreds and thousands of innocents is unacceptable and is much worse than Altair who killed an innocent priest. Now imagine you are Shay and you realized this, this led him to think that his family betrayed him, and so defected to the Templars as he thinks the Templars' way of thinking of the world is better. And think about it, the Colonial Brotherhood of Assassins are the worst brotherhood of Assassins ever, they are arrogant as they put up flags depicting Assassin insignia's on their ships, and Assassins were meant to be one with the crowd and stay hidden, but putting up flags bearing the Assassins insignia just alerts enemies quicker and would seem as if they are far more superior than the people, it is like telling others: "Ahoy we are Assassins! Bow before us!". Now that's two tenets broken, and very badly broken. And since they do not follow these tenets they can be considered as compromising the Assassin Brotherhood. Also think about it, most people think the Templars are always bad people, but that is because we do not see it from their perspective. Again nobody in this devil-cursed world is perfect, Templars have done right and wrong things, and so are Assassins. In this secret war between Assassins and Templars neither side will win, but instead lose. Look at the cycle, Templars kill someone an Assassin loves the Assassin takes revenge, like Ezio and Arno for example. Also most of the time the Assassins never even bothered to care about why Templars are really doing this, same goes for the Templars. This race for the Precursor shits will never end, Templars and Assassins are both greedy for power, but again nobody is perfect. This only happens because the Assassins and Templars never had faith with each other, or a member of the Templars became very greedy. If only the Carrols never burned Haytham Kenway's letters, Elise's father may agree on Haytham's request for Assassins and Templars to work together. This war in the shadows, even if they really happen in real life(who knows Edward or Altair may be completely be erased from history books), will never end with a side winning, but only through Unity. So play Assassin's Creed Unity everyone.
VLanceV epic post mate shay is such an underrated character. My personal favourite in the entire series not because he's a great Assassin or Templar but because he is a great person. Who if he started his own creed i would follow him through hell and back.
I have never expected this "side" story would be so strong. I like it more than AC4 or Unity. Due to Shay I hate Edward, cause I see who is the right MAN!
Shay is great....he had no need or want for controlling anyone...all his crusade against the assassins was to stop all the terrorism and killing.....he's like some sort of Templar Avenger.
You should make a tribute about Haytham, I know we only play as him for a few sequences, but in my opnion he is one of the best Assassin's Creed characters. (And he is my second favorite character)
i feel like shay even though he is a Templar, he is also one of the only true assassins. the assassins believe in seeking answers but shay was one of the only assassins to stop and think 'am i doing the right thing?"
+Peou Il faut le faire cet AC, c'est l'un des meilleurs, certes on voit que il a été fait rapidement, c'est un quasi copié-collé de Black Flag mais le scénario en vaut le détour croit moi, juste excellent :)
I am actually sad cus this guy wont get a 2nd game, come to think of it, all climax of shay's life being a templar is already shown in ac rogue and believe me, playing the 50 yrs old shay couldn't be more fun
Shay is so badass why can't they have put him in a AC unity DLC or maybe expand his story a bit like they did with Ezio or better yet make game that let you play as Templars to get fresh perspective i like many other want a Haytham Kenway game!
Templar game is also good i hope they will make more templar game. Shay is one of my favorite character im looking forward for the continuation of Shay's story
ILL TAKE THIS... May the Father of Understanding guide us
plot twist; the modern world reveres him as a strong warrior and hero
i really liked this Assasins Shay is so Cool i loved hes story
Shay Patrick Cormac imo was the purest and most true protagonist in AC history. Put what he believed in first.
Technically, Haytham did the same thing. He's prolly the only assassin who's a sniper and upholds free will better.
Ares14 also the first Irish protagonist☺

The game hand so much potential
But Ubisoft pack of diciplince

The most painful one was with Ade
@@ixb1zzar3xi for the player, not for Shay. Shay barely knew him

Badass characters,amazing story, great soundtrack.
I love this game
Rogue is my favorite installment in AC franchise. I hope Syndicate don't disappoint.
Hello captain kenway where are we gonna sail today
Dude he killed your best friend
ya I also love it it have something new and refreshing
So what if I called his best friend my own best friend shot me
I say Shay wasn't a Templar nor an Assassin, he simply did what is RIGHT.
He is an independent Human Being.
Finally someone understands perfectly what he is
A freelancer!
I bet if Ubisoft gives this guy two more games, he will challenge the position of Ezio as the most beloved AC character!
You're right mate, it seems, I am not the only one to think that.
yes, ubisoft really shold.
i means we can see the story unfolding from a templar point of view making both sides has a big character we played. they rushed this game so much even though shay has a really big potential.

The problem with Shay's philosophy is that eventually he will take away the freedom of the people & give their asses in the hands of politicians - this is what the templar represent - a world order who will control you. So, if a politician is raping your 3 year old child - you can't do anything until some one slits Shay's Throat. Hence, my creed

The "I'm sorry! I had to!" for Hope. Mad props for the VA. Gets me every time.
"Hell welcomes traitors like you!"

This game was really good, even though it was short
It was too short for me. Everything felt rushed and never gave a shit when I had to kill my former colleagues cause the game never made me built a connection with them.

I really enjoyed ac rouge. It teaches people that life isn't simply good guys and bad guys
I just finished the game right now and damn oh boy I loved every minute of it
The best ac story line so far
Well made. Shay is a very charismatic character. :)
if ubisoft made 2 or 3 more games with Shay as main character, he'd for sure be the best AC protagonist.
I've found it at last, the best tribute to Shay."May the father of understanding guide us"
This is what Altiaïr didn't want, in my eyes, Shay Cormac would be a true heart. Nobody deserves the power of Eden.
As much as he purely disagree on the Templars, Altair should give a bit of a pat on the back to Shay for having some common sense.
Ubisoft plz release another shay story

Great video! I enjoyed Rogue more than unity, love how it connected Black Flag and AC3. Plus the environments were beautiful.
I go back from time to time and love replaying rouge it is my favorite AC game
-Shay Patric Cormac
actually there is no bad guys here, assassins and templars are just different team both of side have a same vision the peace of world and they're just a tools of juno
i think juno will be the last boss from assassins creed game
Kawai Desu-chan I personally think the Templars are right
idk guys but if that so...
that gonna be shocking plot twist
FIRST .
YOUHOU Shay Patrick Cormac is the best charismatic Templar .
Vivement la Vf pour mieux commenté
Obi-Wan Auditore yt...we have obi wan at the start of our name...
........ NON Elise est la plus belle, intelligente, forte, drole, charismatique.... :p la meilleur templiere cest elle
Rogue’s story was really interesting but it was very short and Ubisoft missed the opportunity to further develop both the story and the game overall. They could have given Shay a sequel or added more storyline missions at least.
My favorite Asssassins creed game ever Rogue !!! i wonder what happen next to Shay Patrick Cormac my favorite templar the real story.
Arno's story seemed more tragic to me, that's why his tribute is more emotional. With Shay I wanted to try something much more epic ;)
And in my opinion, it was a success :D
Assassin's Creed Univers I don't know, Shay had to kill his old friends and allies, a process that was painful for him to do but he felt he had to do it. With all the people Shay had gotten killed in Lisbon, he knew the assassins could not continue with what they were doing.
I wonder if Connor and Arno team up to take him down.
It will be an amazing game and plot
arbknight12 It could be such a great game!
I love Shay. Powerful and has his heart and mind on the right spot
Excellent work! Been waiting on this for some time now.
shay and ezio and connor and edward are my favorite assassins of all time
Best character in this series for me too bad the game was short and its was underrated.
@@bigbadwolf7368 That makes two of us
We need a sequel of this masterpiece. Shay Cormac is so charismatic
By far my favorite assassin
In AC4 we saw a pirate trained by Assassins ,here a Templr trained by assassins
This is put together very well!!
Shay Cormac, the greatest assassin hunter who ever lived.
Like if you love Shay ❤️
White24Room is a legend, he/she should make Ubisoft trailers
Cuando el foco principal era la historia y el traje de shey es super memorable.
To imagine Shay is the reason why AC: UNITY EVER HAPPENED
I have never expected this "side" story would be so strong. I like it more than AC4 or Unity. Due to Shay I hate Edward, cause I see who is the right MAN!
hell yeah bro :) , CORMAC is pure
Rouge Is My Favorite Game In The Series!
This was my first AC game and it will always remain my Favorite one!
that is so amazing thank you for this video
Fantastic tribute.
Shay is great....he had no need or want for controlling anyone...all his crusade against the assassins was to stop all the terrorism and killing.....he's like some sort of Templar Avenger.
Absolutely Perfect
You should make a tribute about Haytham, I know we only play as him for a few sequences, but in my opnion he is one of the best Assassin's Creed characters. (And he is my second favorite character)
He is my favourite assassin / templar.
Good job,Assassin's creed univers! I loved it, like all your other videos.
Assassin's Creed Univers Excuse me but SPEAK ENGLISH Please
Black Wolf LOL ! In France you need YOUR LIFE to learn French, it's a difficult language !
Super montage et la fin avec Arno trop stylé :)
i feel like shay even though he is a Templar, he is also one of the only true assassins. the assassins believe in seeking answers but shay was one of the only assassins to stop and think 'am i doing the right thing?"
AC Rogue is the most underrated AC ever.
I pray every night for Ubisoft to extend Shay's story. AC Rogue was just so unique but so short.
Anyone else who wants shay or connor to return
"the tenants of the creed that I used to live by , are the tenants of a false creed" - Shay Cormac.
The Shortest, but the most intense this one was.
There aren't good guys or bad guys. Just people fighting for what they believe is right
dude you deserve 1,000,000 subs
Waow génial, je suis épaté, c'est énorme la fin comme teasing pour la suite. même si c'est déjà sorti ...
Wooow that was amazing!Shay is awesome but Assassin's Creed univers is even better!
I wish Shay could see Edward as a friend that would be so dope
Templar game is also good i hope they will make more templar game. Shay is one of my favorite character im looking forward for the continuation of Shay's story
This game could've been a Netflix series no lie
Favourite AC game. One of my ultimate favourite characters
