I just want to point out that Jupiter's moons were named after his lovers from mythology and Juno was Jupiter's wife. So Nasa send jupiter's wife to go check up on him and see what he has been up to.
YES, NASA had a satellite named Juno, Jupiter's wife. It is said that she is the only one who could see behind his veil of clouds. I just love this stuff!!!!

The beauty of Jupiter is so amazing that it's kind of terrifying. A sort of serene violence? Like, every single one of those cyclones is a violent storm, yet from space, it's just a calm and silent beauty.
Himanshu Goel It reminded me of intestines; a mixture of awe and disgust. I think 'taboo' in it's original meaning would be the right word. Although that feeling's partially due to the oversaturation.

It's my hopes that we could do and be anywhere in the afterlife.. at the speed of thought. I would hope to have the courage to see places like this.. but you're right, I couldn't imagine NOT being terrified to even try.

when i got my first telescope the first thing i did was look at jupiter. Pretty life changing and gives you a whole new perspective on things. Beautiful planet

I had a Celestron 8" schmidt cassegrain and I hacked up a "barlow" out of a camera lens and old binocular lenses and a hand-towel roll. Jupiter must have been at nearly 1000 x and it was like a grapefruit size (like from desktop viewing distance) and the great red spot was like nearly 1" x 3/4 " size.. and Saturn was like a tennis ball size and the rings were 8" diam. lol It was even hard to believe for me but it happened (must have been a good "seeing" night that's for sure). And the tracker on that scope was so good that Saturn was still in view an hour later. Definitely a pretty life changing experience and gave we a whole new perspective on things.

Yes exactly in form, but less color, only dull pastel color, like jupiter is white and grey and the great red spot (on Jupiter) is cream (not red), and Saturn is cream. But the lens I had lacked contrast, it made it sharp and fuzzy at the same time and dulled the color a bit. I just took notice of the sharp image, not the fuzzy overtones. It's just a home hacked lens that goes between the telescope and the original eyepiece lens (just a fun project). I'm glad I did it cos it's like a dream come true to see Jupiter and Saturn so BIG! Another planet...
When Venus is on the near side of the sun, Venus is large and like a 1/4 phase. And when Venus is on the far side of the sun, Venus has like a 3/4 phase and is much smaller. I see that in my telescope, for myself. That fits with a solar system and exactly how I was told.

Thanks. Get a cassegrain telescope for planets, more expensive but smaller to carry (like a quarter the tube length) and double the optical focal length as the long tubes. lol That's why they are expensive. You get heaps more magnification with the short tubes. lol And the short tube telescopes are all enclosed with glass so dust can't get in, neater thing. $ave your cash!
Getting to see this kind of stuff makes me happy to be living in this day and time. I just wish I could live to see beyond my years to see what other discoveries are made.

With the kidding aside this is absolutely beyond belief. I last taught astronomy in 1980 a short almost 40 years ago. The amount of knowledge we had about Jupiter filled a section of a chapter on the solar system. Today that section is now a series of uncompleted books. I realize our younger viewers are jaded because they don't have that perspective. I now archive these in a folder that I named the "New" Solar System....congrats and thanks.

At the end of the 1990s, I memorized the names of all the moons in the Solar system.
A few years later, the number of known moons had more than doubled!
I would try to learn the rest, but many of Saturn's new moons are unpronounceable.. 😠

Scariest discovery would be: after all these years, the great red spot on Jupiter's surface was thought to be a powerful storm... Until it blinked.

This video is very well put together. It's well-paced, doesn't have a ridiculously long title/intro section, doesn't have an annoying computer voice, no annoying sound effects, good balance between voice and background music, and shows good views of the material presented. Many youtube video creators could learn a thing or two from you Astrum! Well done!

I like the way you show all the space images while "profesional" documentaries endlessly loop the CGI animation between the talking heads saying how amazing the images from the probe are while the editor never thinks to actually show them.
That is the whole driving force behind me creating this channel!

First, this series about the legacy of spacecraft is remarkable. Very, very good work !
I would have suggestions for other spacecraft worthy of this series : Chandra, Fermi, Gaia, and Spitzer.
And, as an afterthought, I would like you to consider a similar series for large earth-based recent telescopes that have made important contributions to our understanding of the universe. In no particular order : Keck, VLT, GTC, SALT, etc.
Anyway, a huge thank you for your own contribution in making astronomy accessible to all of us, myself included.

Can't see where to enter my own comment, so I guess I'll enter one here. I think the narrator means "highly eccentric" orbit, not "highly perpendicular", gotta get the orbital mechanics terms correct
I believe that perpendicular refers to the fact that the orbit is perpendicular to the equator, ie polar orbit.
I think he said "highly perpendicular", if what you said is true, it is either perpendicular or not, eccentricity refers rather to the non circular nature of the orbit, i.e., a close perigee and distant apogee.

No photos no nothing of their phlat earth in its entirety.
They are so backward thinking that they don't believe in space, and rely on silly balloons and P900s to do their phlat earth horizon and curvature experiments. Even the ISS is fake to them for much the same reasons. The earth images from space are too powerful because of what they show the earth to be. A sphere.

For as long as I can remember, Jupiter has always been my favorite planet. As a small child, I sometimes pretended to be a "Jupiterian" visiting Earth and exploring lol. Getting to see images of it like this literally bring tears to my eyes.
