These are some of the nicest minis built. Spendy yes but really smooth. They also have lots of little things that are neat. Factory quick connect, oringed pins, and a couple other nice little things

The 305.5's are a dang nice machine. You know Cat use to be a lot more expensive than other brands but they always had a better resale value. Now they're all about the same price and Cat still holds a better resale value and Cat does have the best parts availability out of anyone so if you are broke down you're not sitting around waiting for parts! Great video Tim!

The 3.3L and 3.8L engines found in the Cat skid steers and excavators are made by Kubota for Cat.

We had a 2011 John Deere 200D excavator and it made even the die hard CAT guys in town a little jealous I believe. Lol. I hope a John Deere mini test drive is in the works. I'm hoping that's what you were referring to right there at the end.

Hey Tim! I believe that series mini has a kubota engine in it.
Also you won’t need to add another set of auxiliary lines to run an attachment with a thumb. The thumb runs right off of the primary aux. lines that one has on it. They just put a T and valve on both lines right before the couplers out there on the stick. Then they direct plumb the thumb into that T. Then to run an attachment like a brushhog. You retract the thumb all the way up, close those valves to lock it in place, then release the pressure in the lines, then hook your brushhog up to the couplers, then turn the valve under the right side panel to change it from 2-way flow to 1-way continuous flow, then you are good to go!

I just bought the same machine. The engine has a Kubota controller, under the seat, so I think it's a rebranded Kubota. I did order the angle blade which has been much more useful than expected. Plus the thumb, which is one of my disappointments because it is not a progressive link thumb. I have found the hydraulics underpowered while pushing the machine up for a turn and just plane pulling. All of my large cat excavators have had the strength to drag the machine around with the bucket. Oh and the travel speed is dreadful at 2.8 MPH. I did machine some pedal extensions, which I will be happy to make another pair and send them to you. All in all, a good machine. But today's big machines just spoil a man.

You should not buy a Caterpillar excavator with a push blade on it made of thin metal tubing.(like rectangular muffler tubing) They break off at the worst time.
Such as leveling up on a hillside frequently. Or frequently lifting it by the boom and the dozer blade. I was using one on flat land and the dozer blade broke completely off Just using it for stabilization shortly after somebody else was using it to level up on a steep hillside.
All other brands I have seen use solid iron for the dozer blade lift arms.
you should know that if those are made like crap the rest of the tractor probably is also.

that end of the line is easy to get to.. the other end is not as easy.. the cab needs to come off.. they fixed that on the next gen machines... only reason i know about the cab needing to come off is when i was buying my machine i went to cat and talked to a mechanic about it and he was working on one like the one in the video and he was pulling the cab off to get to the lines..
