When the 9th edition codex dropped for Ad Mech, the Ironstriders were absolutely ridiculous and people did run squads of up to 7-9 models. They were durable, fast and shot very well. Combined with all the buffs AdMech can dish out, they could easily blow off all your tanks on the first turns.
Yeah just got a few of them on the table and after one game I can definitely say they are scary
People with a lot of money, you mean
And that's how GW use rules churn to drive model sales.
@@andresperedo1275 3d printer go brrrrr
That being said I don't chase the meta, I like having the extra 3/4ths of my codex to use.
Their price to value equation always put me off from buying any of these. Basically, if it hasn't come packaged in a Battleforce box or Combat Patrol, I haven't been able to pull the trigger for this army. It's just too damned expensive. Thankfully, this year's Battleforce box was really varied and helped me fill lots of gaps in my list(s).
The doomstalker is definitely the coolest. I would love to build a whole "War of the Worlds" themed necron army.
It's important to remember that Sisters of Battle were originally a part of the Witch Hunters codex. I guess the bizarre units they have access to now are just a remnant of that.
The point you made about the Sydonian Dragoons being turned into a gun platform is just the Ironstrider Ballistarii, its got either two lascannons or two autocannons on the same big horse thing, but i agree about them needing to be two ina box for 60 bucks.
I believe the Arco-Flaggelants are a relic from a time when the Inquisition was a separate army. I like both units still existing, even if it doesn't make much sense for both of them to be in the same army list.
They are different. The Sisters are better for going after big things and you get a bonus from their death the Flagelents are better for mobs
Also the difference is that sisters repentia is a choice
Arco-flaggelants isn't
Well that is the lore difference anyway
You have a great point for the inquisition army. Adding in the scantily clad whip people to an inquisition army is the best move. I have always thought it was weird the sisters had two units so similar. Great work as always gents!! Thank you!
The way I understand Parasite of Mortrex’s rules is that if that two mortal wounds comes after either roll (so 1-3 or 4-6) Ripper swarms will spawn. And also after roll of 4-6 that unit stays infected and can potentially spawn mire swarms next turn until the unit is destroyed or rolls 1-3.
the big necron walker would be awesome to change to a out of line of sight type weapon, give it a gauss mortar or something
The weapons is "good" after all it is the strongest weapon (if not one of the strongest) the necron codex has and his hability of free and repetable tau overwatch is great. The problem is no core (which mean no buffs), degrading stats, only D6 damage, D6 hits with blast but still D6 and, the worst of all the disadvanatges, a 4+ to hit. It is one of the worst BS units in the codex, in damage the spyders do more because they have 12 hits everytime and a stratagem to go 2+ in bs which our doomstalker doesnt have... If at least his shoots were always at 4+, even in overwatch, it could be understandable. BTW i am using it anyway it is just so cool.
Problem with moving parasite from fast attack is that tyranids have too much good stuff in the elite and HQ, that would just take up the slots, leaving this guy behind.
I love the arco-flaggelant models, it's so grimdark and weird for me, I love the body horror aesthetic.
Arco Flagellants i think should be a choice for guard. they need a melee option and it might serve as a reminder to the troops what the price of disobedience is
Bring back the Fratis Militia not only for the SoB but also I would be cool with it coming to Guard.
(Along with the return of Preachers, Missionaries and priests.)
Disrespect for The Sacred Shovel? Thats a shooting offence!
The doom stalker is also a canoptek unit- so there are even more subtle differences to help you decide- super similar though I agree
5th Parasite had weird anti-outflanking rules that when an opponent outflank you could spawn a ripper into that unit, super fun lol, stopped Outflank, run and charging.
Acros are anti-horde, I played them a lot, so at least on the table they have a purpose, Reps anti-elite/tank, Arcos anti horde, and I do take both lol, honestly I think they are fine.
1:25. What I like about the Doom Stalker is that its less of a gigantic pain in the ass to build compared to the Annihilation Barge. It is SUPER weird they have the same gun.
Storm Speeder "..it looks like a shoe..." LOL dang that got me good
I started questioning my sanity from the amount of times you confused doomsday ark and annihilation barge 😂
I’d like to see the Leman Russ modernized. The kit hasn’t been updated in forever, and much like other units, it’s been powercrept to the point specializing in a certain role for it is rather useless. It’s either the universal battle cannon, the punisher to meme with buckets of dice, or the flamer variant.
As long as they don't hovertank it
@@lancelotgohel8460 that’s a Primaris thing
@@CMTechnica hope it stays that way
Admittedly, a great deal of the variety that's currently available is from GW mainstreaming what used to be Forgeworld exclusives. I personally don't mind it, but there's some real problems in their implementation game-wise, especially in this post-8th Ed period for vanilla 40k. LR Vanquishers in particular are bizarrely balanced at the moment where they're supposed to be relatively rare lore-wise, but the overemphasis on their AP shells makes their point cost not worth taking over the regular battle cannon (despite previous editions treating them as battle cannons + AP alternate fire).
That, and vanilla 40k at the moment is a skirmish game where everything is a glorified infantry model for some reason, so there's little to no point in taking vehicles despite how they look on the shelf or table.
With that said, I'd maybe consider keeping an eye out for anything that might come out during the release of Liber Imperialis for Horus Heresy. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if the Rogal Dorn tanks that the IG are soon to get will be introduced then.
10:39 "it looks like a shoe"
New cosplay concept just dropped.
That Necron walker looks great for Half-Life inspired postapocalyptic sci-fi games, for those of us who play miniatures-agnostic narrative games
Ecclesiarch army is also an option for the Arco-Flagellants. Older codexes there were more options for a heavier Ecclesiarch army, the newer codexes are heavy on the Sisters units. The Witch Hunters codex had a nice mix of unit options.
Actually I like Parasite in fast attack. It's the slot with the least units available. Parasites best feature is being a super fast synapse creature, so it can keep up with the gargoyles and raveners. If anything, genestealers and rippers should go back to the troop slot.
I’ve tried to make the primaris speeder work. It just dies too fast… it needs less guns and cost less points. As my collection grew it gets to stay at home
I have not played a primaris speeder or even 9th edition period, but it does have a cool factor. Being a collector and a player I usually end up buying at least 1 of every unit for my Dark Angels. I'm awaiting 10th to finally introduce my DA to primaris. I kinda lost interest around 7th, I bought the 8th codex and rulebook but didn't have anyone to play with, and I don't like anything about 9th.
Arco flag should, imo, have a self destruct rule. Eg, when they die in melee on a 4+ they cause 1 MW
Would make me think twice before i slam Nobs into them to erase them
So I play sisters. I genuinely enjoy arco-flagellants bc of their endurant implants ability and the fact that they have 2 wounds in an army that almost no infantry choice has. A blob of ten with implants, can do 60 attacks in close combat. Repentia are great because they get tons of buffs from other sisters bc they still have the sororitas keyword. This is great if you choose the order of the bloody rose, they’re only okay if you choose our martyred lady, or most other orders. So I run arcos and don’t run repentia. They’re tougher and attack more, you’re probably not going to be able to buff repentia for long with their faction keyword, and as far as the cost goes, arcos are worth it. Honestly, IMO I think arcos look better, and are a bit easier to paint and less fiddly to build.
Yeah, it seems to me that they have a niche.
I think lots of the primaris, especially the storm speeder, suffers from having one foot through every door. It's fast, it shoots well, it's somewhat beefy and it's big. I, like many others, started playing 40k with space marines but i quickly realised I prefer armies that have clear trade-offs in their stats, like drukhari with speed>squishyness or tau with ranged>melee. When you want a fast skimmer for positioning, it sucks that you also have to pay points for durability and a bunch of weapons that you're not planning on playing around.
But they trade off quantity over quality, that's was always the marine theme. They start the game very strong but each causality makes units exponentially weaker.
Specially if you take out buffing units.
The ironstrider ballistarii are absolutely worth the money. Specially if you ran 3+ of them in a squad. Each one has twin lascannons and count as core. You can run them with a tech priest and re roll 1's. Spicy Air
I'd put the arco flagellants as a penal legion choice for the Guard, in addition to bringing back penal legion troops. Basically make them like conscripts, but melee focused.
Ngl until now I thought the arco-flagelents and the sisters repentia were just 2 different units from the same box similar to skitaari rangers/vanguards or necron immortals/deathmarks
Hey man love your vids! Wish i lived closer too someone that likes to paint 🙈
I hate that the Sydonian Dragoon is even called a "dragoon." when they carry a lance. Dragoons are mounted infantry with carbines that dismount to fight on foot. They should be called a Sydonian Lancers.
It's never gonna happen but I wish GW would 'refresh' (remake in plastic) Uthmog Elvenbane (also known as Harry the hammer - basically the figure based on John Blanche's cover art for Warhammer Fantasy Battle 1st Edition) from Citadel SS1 Warriors of Chaos. In Modern plastic it would be a fantastic miniature and brilliant way to celebrate the 40th anniversary next year - And yes, I am that old...
Tbf they already redid him for the 30th
@@Coproquim Yeah, but it was oversculpted, "throw detail at it and see what sticks" crap.
@@Coproquim they did a 'Harry the Hammer' figure - but it was total redesign nothing like the 1st edition artwork.
Diehard miniatures do a nice take on it that's a little less flat than the original but not too overwrought
@@Bleentron Yeah, I have that one (and the original Uthmog figure) and it is pretty good - definitely recommended - but it's not the original, in the original pose. Shame really as the designer (Tim Prow) worked for GW back in the day. Guess he had to make sure he was on the right side of copyright law :)
I wish that Games workshop would get on redoing many models in the Guard range especially the Death Korps into plastic, and I would like to see more of the guard on this channel Jay. please? Day 14 of asking
They re-did the Death Korps into plastic last year
@@AcornPlays only infantry, no heavy weapons, artillery, tanks, supper heavies, and much much more
@@kightknight7008 yeah I kinda assumed you just paint the tanks up in different colours lol I'm still fairly new to the hobby. I didn't know each guard regiment got unique units except troops and maybe a HQ or two
@@AcornPlays there is a site called forgeworld, and that is where Krieg is mostly, but they are over priced resin miniatures, and they have a full Krieg army there, including cavalry and their own super heavies
I am a sisters player...I have Repentia and Arco-Flagellants. I really had fun with the flagellants because I got to get weird with the skin tones to make them extra grimdark. Also, two wounds and way more attacks when properly supported!
100% agree on the storm speeders. It is a weird design choice and I get the impression it was designed to replace multiple first born units that will not get replaced by a primaris equivalent
I play Sisters occasionally and I bought both Repentia and Arco-Flags. Both have their uses and can be fun to use, but I get what you're saying. It's fun to line up my whippy naked roid dudes and yeet them at an enemy for a stupid amount of attacks. I think its around 60 attacks.
Hey Eon, The Canoptek Doomstalker does have a unique set of rules called sentinel construct that the doomsday arc does not have and that gives it the ability to perform a free overwatch using its canon at full power even if it moved in the prior movement phase.
During ninth edition when it first launched for some reason they gave a lot of these heavy support options D6 attacks D6 damage each but it does have the blast keyword issue is a lot of players will go out of their way to not let a unit become more than five models when designing a list
"I don't like this model at all. It looks like a shoe."
Me: I love this model a lot. It looks like a shoe.
Storm speeder is probably the only Primaris vehicle I genuinely like.... Once you cut out Brother Tinnitus. The Strider is also one of my favourite models.
I say ditch the storm raven, and just bump points on the strider. Maybe sell striders in two packs like Armigers.
The Doomstalker is actually much worse than anything in the Necron army, because it's one of the couple of models that is a Monster and not a Vehicle so with the recent buff that gave all Necron Vehicles Core he didn't get it so all vehicles vastly oustperform compared to the Stalker.
The pros/cons of each unit does make them very similar in terms of durability + offensive output, but that's not the debate here. Monster has been problematic in other ways (poison type weapons) but also works against an opponent's vehicle specific abilities. What would core really give that matters to the doomstalker? Genuinely curious, haven't played for a little while.
I actually don't mind the doomstalker. I think it was designed for smaller pointed games which may affect its visibility on the tabletop but I like to run mine for the rule of cool
@@PinoyCarter Basically every single buff you can get in Necrons is for Core only, including the vast majority of stratagems, so for example Lords and Overlords can give re-rolls to Necrons units, but only if they are core.
@@PinoyCarter a lot of the buffs HQs give specify core so mwbd would make it hit on 3s. If overwatch wasn’t awful it would also be useful there but it gets to shoot for free when another unit is charged so that’s a thing. Also has a stratagem to shoot when a character dies with +1 to hit. Potentially spend 4CP and the thing gets to fire 3 times in one round.
@@iamnotglenn Assuming you follow 3 CDS or none (whereas the DDA can be arguable in a 1 or 2 unit setup), MWBD would be straight worse than a control node. RR1s is just about always bad on a D6 shot model as well (vs the 10..20..40 shots from other units the Lord should be supporting). I'm going through the other HQ's and maybe adaptive strategy is pertinent (warden)? I'll run through more of the strats as @JeanMark mentions but any substantively useful abilities that makes the CDS's lack of core matter seem absent
Free OW and the usually unusable revenge strat aren't related to them having core. For the OW, I don't think the +1 works...pretty sure it's unmodified.
I 100% agree with the parasite of mortrex
Weirdest of the doomstalker is that it's cousin, the reanimator is a monster. So adding 1 gun makes it a vehicle.
Space Marine Storm Speeder, it is supposed to be a Jeep, but it's not yet big enough
It needs to be combined with the Landspeeder Storm.
I do like that gatling nosegun, if that was the pilot gun, that is.
But where is the lower nose turret?
My suggestion, EonsOfBattle, get this one and a Landspeeder Storm, then use this on it's engine block, on a Landspeeder storm
Then use this one, it's nose, to upgrade that original 30k(?) landspeeder or use it as one of the two main, side mounted, lifting claws of a (big) troop transport of some sort.
In the later one, you need to do the above, twice or more, for that troop transport.
For the parasite, what about a tracking tally that for every X wounds it deals to a unit you may spawn a ripper swarm? Also, I'm getting some serious Cell from DBZ vibes from that thing.
Arco-Flagellants weren't always apart of the Sisters of Battle, they first appeared in the Witch Hunters inquisition codex, then when GW abandoned supporting Inquisition armies in any way, the Flagellants were rolled into the SOB codexes...
That's why that army has two almost identical units.
Don't forget they also have the penitent engines, and the other thing that's exactly the same except it's not a sister of battle in it?
@@f0rth3l0v30fchr15t Just another example of a unit originally from the Witch Hunters that got rolled into the Sisters army.
The Witch Hunters codex WAS the sisters of battle codex for 3Ed. Penitents and Arcos aren't Inquisition units that were rolled in, they were both Ecclesiastical units just like the Sisters
The stormspeeder is OK, if you just see it as the replacement for the land speeder. Only things that don't really worked for me was that it didn't came with a closed cockpit option and the dude at the back... But I took care of that with some 3D printed piece to have a closed cockpit and automated turet instead
Maybe if you could take more than one of the parasite unit for tyranids, that might make them a more viable choice, if you have a unit of three attack another unit, you could potentially have three ripper swarms
I think the Doomstalker is supposed to be a LoS sniper, it can see over most terrain, but who knows.
So we will take a landspeeder and make it the size of a flying predator. The kids will love it .
Not only is the doomstalker a cheaper option over the Doomsday ark, but it also has canoptek keyword which can help with shenanigans
10:38 *What do you have against shoes?*
A bit of topic but have you seen the new Squats? They did the Pauldron thing you did almost to a Tee with the one big for protection,
The Arco-flagellants are like the Repentia only worse. They don't get the Sororitas or keywords and they aren't core. I suspect that they were added because so people who already had the models could use them in the army. It would make more sense to make them and the other Ministorum stuff into something like Agents of the Imperium. That way you could throw a few in any Imperial army for flavor. It probably wouldn't be very optimal since they are not really that good but it would be nice for fluff. They should do the same thing for the servitors. It's just weird that they have the Astartes keyword now. They are used all over the Imperium. Why are they and Astartes unit? They aren't even very good. At best, they are a cheap chaff unit for stuff like doing actions and nuisance charges. While I'm at it, give the Grey Knights, Deathwatch and Adepta Sororitas their Ordo keywords back. The Deathwatch was formed to be part of Ordo Xenos. They don't have the Ordo Xenos keyword? What?
Sorry, I may have gone a bit off track there.
I love the stormstrike speeders personally, except the man in the turret. I havent placed him in either of the ones ive built.
I can take a power stabba for 5 points to get a melee attack that gives me -2 Ap or for 3 points I can take the big choppa and get 2 attacks at +2 to hit and -1 Ap. When I got into the game there weren't even rules for the stabba at all but it was on the sprue.
I need to see you try to paint a space marine wearing drunk glasses
The sidonian dragoon has another way to build it, the iron strider balistarii, and people are indeed running 10 of em
18:34 chaos space marines sort of had that weird unit bloat (like loyalist marines have now too) where you had Khorne berserkers, chosen (token vet unit) and possessed all doing the sameish things and sitting in the same slot (elites).
Possessed were real shit tier for a long time because they had random attacks like spawn.
Now it’s sort of like they got two power axes which with the changes to the terminator data slates means I have a new modeling opportunity (I hate that we are demotivated from buying multiple kits to give our guys all combiPlasmas and lightning claws) and that everything is going back to being a “power weapon” like it was in 5th when I started (“accursed weapon” for chaos)
The Speeders are a guilty pleasure of mine.
i wish they would give vespids another go, i really like them and the role they would play in the tau army, and better looking models would be nice
The thing with the Doomstalker is that it's a MONSTER, not a Vehicle, and gets to play around rules about being a Vehicle
Still can't believe there are two space marine types it's just absurd to me. And two types of each vehicle for said types.....in the same army.
GW hasn't released any Firstborn marines since introducing Primaris. I don't think GW was willing to discontinue the Firstborn line outright, since so many people collected them, but I believe sooner or later they will stop selling Firstborn marines for 40k.
And they all look worse
@@mackpackable yeah that's bound to happen but I don't think anytime soon. With 30k being popular with firstborn also most of the lore is written with first born in mind. I wish they just said hey guys here is the new mark armour also true scale is here now...that's it I would be happy as my old marine don't get outshined and if I wanted 'true scale' I could upgrade in the future. But here we are. Didnt mean to rant lol.
I wish the goofy looking Primaris skimmer pickup truck didn’t exist and that the Stormspeeder was designed to be a big Primaris Land Speeder Storm.
I ran a parasite in my first battle. Not only did it miss EVERYTHING but it got annihilated in the clap back. was a pretty feels bad
I would love a squad of dragoons but never even purchased one because the price is ludicrous for what you get 🙃 would have been awsome if you got two in a box like you say.
While they do look similar they do function quite different, but yeah i feel they would work better with the guard or the mechanicus.
The Repulsor is one. It has so many bloody weapons that it takes you 20 mins just to shoot all the guns
Stormspeeders need some love
Axe the Doomsday Ark, Long live the Doomstalker
Love your content ❤
From a game design principle, the critique of units doing the same thing is valid - why have two units doing the same or filling the same role, when the rules would be easier to follow if everything had a specific role?
But from a hobby perspective I think it's great to have more options, particularly for making nutty builds and conversions.
Also, remember GW is a model production company and not a game company (/s)! :)
The Doomsday Ark should be the more mobile unit because it isn't going to be affected by tremors and the longer barrel should increase accuracy so it makes more sense for it than the Doomstalker to be able to fire on the move. The Doomsday Ark has more movement in the first place so that is another reason why it should be the more mobile option, it also has a lot more of the short-ranged secondary weapon so to make the most of it you really want to drive it closer. Just cancelling out gravity is such an energy-intensive thing in the first place that it really shouldn't make a difference whether you are going forwards to send more energy to the weapon systems, imagine an attack helicopter that has to hover in place to have enough power to use its weapon systems.
Give both the Doomstalkerstalker and Doomsday Ark S10 all the time, give the Doomsday Ark range 120" all the time, give the Doomstalker range 24" (48" if it stays still). Then change the Doom Scythe's main gun to Heavy 1 but it gets to shoot an additional time at an enemy unit within 6" of the first target and visible to the Doom Scythe. The Doomsday Ark is the best for moving in and clearing out infantry while shooting its big gun, the Doomstalker is best for sitting back and shooting its big gun, the Doom Scythe is best for hitting groups of enemy vehicles.
Doomstalker looks great, but right now is just a slightly cheaper, not quite as good Doomsday Ark (but with an additional rule for Overwatch and a stratagem and isn't a vehicle). It's still preferrable to take 3 Doomstalkers however, because that means you don't have to build and paint a Doomsday Ark!
The parasite would work much better in a small game. Think it would shine in something like Killteam where the gimmick would have much more significance.
HANDS OFF MY SISTERS, JAY !!!!!!eleven
should; make the doom stalker like a hammerhead tank for necrons imo .. increase its points .. give it some weird ability
As as sister of battle player I want to clarify.
Sisters Repentia are Sisters who either a) failed in their duty and become repentia to (No surprise) repent. or b) feel that they personally have failed the emperor and choose to become repentia to repent. They insert barbs or spikes into their skin to bring them more pain and to serve a reminder and wear only cloth because they are undeserving of power armour.
Sisters that fail again as Repentia are put in the Mortifier.
Arco flagellants are citizens or imperial guards that have failed in some regard, usually heresy or cowardice etc. and are pumped full of chemicals and brain washed to want to die, killing for the emperor. Their limbs are amputated and replaced with the flagellant flails.
Truly terrible crimes lead to either the Penitent engine or the Mortifier.
While Arco flagellants are awful thematically (like holy hell), it does make sense to have them, and the Sisters of battle are the military arm of the Ecclesiarchy, so it makes sense that they would have penitent engines, mortifiers and arco flagellants and no other faction.
I love the sydonian dragoons model. I have a very small admech force (which I would like to eventually make bigger) and this mini is one of the main reasons why... but I only have one as they are sooo expensive.
I don't really care about their rules, as I do not play since 5th edition, but yeah, they could make them cheaper at least (in cash I mean). If they would be cheaper, I would spend more money...
Im glad there is a model same as the barge, they are a nightmare to build and paint.
The Storm Speeder is a goofy “upgrade” on the venerable Land Speeder.
I feel like sisters repentia should remain as they currently are and they should redo acro-flagellants. I would personally see them as a puritan inquisitor choice where they get one to three models that go absolutely berserk in melee with loads of random blade and whip attacks and maybe some suicide explosive.
Challenge accepted
Bought both archo flagellants and sister repentia. And I do plan to include both on the same army
I actually like the Primaris Speeders, I think they look cool.
Heresy.
I like the storm speeder.
Storage should be a factor because good luck carrying or finding a case for the doomstalker.
I’m going to make an argument for the storm speeder. For one thing you make it a thunder strike and as I play dark angels you get the raven wing rules it has done beautiful things for me. It gets great anti tank and moves fast with a 5/4+ invulnerable save either it draws fire and gives other stuff the opportunity to move up or it hits vehicles hard. Also the ultra marines paint scheme on it is not flattering to what you can do with it I painted mine black with purple wings and gold trim and it looks fantastic
Part of the Storm Speeder arguments can be applied to the whole Primaris range... they are just more or less, lots of the same stuff again.
Personally like the Storm Speeder appearance. A good modern take of the old Land Speeder that honestly look more like a shoe.
The problem is that all the guns etc just places it in a strange spot... a bit too expensive as a unit that you throw in there to take out as much as possible before it dies. Too weak to take a punch etc... They could fix it in rules / datasheets with if they allowed us to make it cheaper if we removed some weapons.
Ah yes, "fast attack are usually flyers or cavalry" while talking about parasite of mortrex
And then called Ripper Swarms good 💀
@@dracometeors3010 their good sponges ☹️
Ya mean Doomsday Ark don’t ya?
Doomstalker is 30 pt cheaper and has a 4+ invun save insteas of quantum shielding. Also has the ability to shoot to when they charge one of your other units. Doomstalker is my fav.
Inquisition need it’s own codex and Arco Flags should be in there
I will defend the Storm Speeder with all my life's essence. It's an awesome design and I genuinely can't believe that people hate it so much when Land Speeders have been an iconic thing for decades yet look much worse.
I have some arco flagellants, I think we don't see them cause the are so tiny and spindley that they are hard to build and paint. Repentia are easier to handle. I like flagellants though, visually. I think they are cool with their chem spines and whip arms. They interest me more than repentia.
They could make flagellants way cheaper so you can take them in massive hoards + an ok fnp save. Use them as a great board control blob unit a bit like drukhari wracks.
Because I got the combat patrol box for the sororitas (A sisters leader, seraphim, battle sisters, rhino and repentia half squad for a bit less than the price of that also a penitent engine and some flagellants I don't care about for me to practice techniques on), and the way I'm separating the two is just utter sheer contempt for the idea of making flagellants. The Penitent engine is tripping over a broken column because the pose works for that and I find it amusing, and I'm going to lean real hard into just a hideously unhealthy pallor on their skin, because it's an absolutely hideous thing to do to a person and I want those minis to cause visceral disgust if I ever take them out (which I won't, I'm all about the display models and kill team)
With the repentia and flagellants, the prior is for sisters only so is purely female and is to atone for shame and failings which may cause them to rejoin the ranks of the sisters or be forgiven in death, Flagellants like penitent engine pilots are being punished maybe against their will and have normally been extensively tourchered, lobotomised, fitted with all manner to surgical weapon implants and are attached to combat stimulant pumps that drive them into a whirlwind of violence controls by their handlers. Very Different in terms of lore but from a tabletop standard one is also a sisters unit and has access to those buffs and acts of faith etc whils5 also being a high ap weapon, prior to 9th the ap was 4 but it was nerfed in the new edition and was renamed a sisters eviserator following 8th edition when they started giving the weapon to marines and the squad can very very durable with Rerollable 3+ fnp and a invun save in 8th, the flagellants however have more wounds per model, are cheaper and need a priest to really buff them, they have low ap but have a much higher weight of attacked with a higher base strength and toughness than the repentia. Ones surprisingly durable horde control, the other is elite unit/tank slayer. Hope this helps to explain.
Just a bit of a counter opinion that probably applies to much of what you've said. You ask why are there minis that almost (or essentially do) fill the same roles as others units? Well the answer is usually play style. People can play the same unit different ways, but when they're given a bunch of similar options, lets use your Ani Barge/D-Ark/D-Stalk problem, you'll find that different people will be more successful with a certain one of those units than either of the others.
As for Arcos v Repentia, you literally answered your own question. You don't take Repentia to kill Guardsmen, you take Arcos. It's no different to many other comparisons, there's just subtle differences in roles/targets/job/etc.
Gotta agree with Ironstriders 2-fer deal though, those bastards are pricy.
Nothing prevents you from building Aggressors with just the Boltstorm Gauntlets or Building them with the Flamestorm Gauntlets + the Fragstorm Grenade Launchers.
Same with all of these Primaris tanks: You can put any sponsons on any Gladiator. So why can't you do that in the rules? It even saves printer ink, because you only need ONE datasheet!
I've been building and mech for a while. I have 3 ironstriders and 3 dragoons now, but it's taken me years to get there and I only buy one every so often just because I adore the models.
Edit: if they put 2 in the box that would be AMAZING!!
doomstalker is more affordable than doomsday ark. I wish the primaris vehicles had swappable weapons options and were defined by their primary weapons instead of having fixed loadouts
Many of my Aspect Warriors are still in need of a new coat of paint, so to speak. Fire Dragons, Warp Spiders, and for the love of god please can we get new Striking Scorpions?
