The combat zone was nothing like it has been reported to be in the 70's, I grew up in Boston, and it was a great place to be a young man, spent many an evening in the intermission lounge..

As a young boy, I saw things in the combat zone that no other young boy should miss out on in his life.

I was born in Boston in 1960, grew up just south of the city, combat zone had bad reputation, but every city in those days had rough sections, strip clubs, prostitution, drugs, alcohol, it's still around, it's just hidden and not as out there as then. Great city, and great area to grow up, ocean, cape cod, snow skiing close by, and of course, one of the greatest sports area ever.

I learned how to play pool at Good Time Charlies, right in the heart of it on LaGrange street. Ahh...the good ole days. 👄

Hard to imagine that the last time I was there it was for a bachelor party for a friend and coworker back in the mid-nineties.

We would go to Chinatown after a night of clubbing and order food and cold tea, which was beer served in a tea pot after hours.

Look similar to New York City Times Square in 80s and 90s.

Ahhh the zone. The good ole days when Boston had some character. Now it's just a process of gentrification like most cities nowadays.
