Quick punch-in recording (with no autopunch option) works under the conditions: 1 - we have to of course "Allow Quick Punch-In" in Record menu selected 2 - record button option has to be set to "record" (not record toggle or record repeat) 3 - track has to be armed for recording. Now quick punch-in recording by pressing "R" key or record button during playback works correctly.
This is what I need. In my first vocal recording experience I was so excited and also nervous because I was like "what if she wants to sing a certain area one more time" I didn't even know there's a feature called auto punch in every daw lol Then I created a new audio track and recorded her voice into the other one lol. At the end if the session, I had almost 10 vocal tracks 😂
WOooooOOo ! And just put a new tune on soundcloud yo ; ) . All the Phase Plant sounds and Serum from yo Sound Packs used ! Name Tiger ....BUT it has a beaver in it haha
So weird, maybe it was just an older version but the punch in and multiple takes. I didn't record for awhile and then updated and suddenly I couldn't record the same way anymore. Used to just hit record and it would do a could down and start recording at your current spot. Could also do the repeat and have it go over and over again, but yeah it didn't do the pre-roll. Also never had this stutter issue.
Strange. When I use the marquee tool and press record, it starts recording right away from the highlighted area, regardless of where I place my playhead.
If you go to the top left of the region, and click the number, you can then flatten, which will create fades between the takes, or flatten and merge, which will essentially bounce them to one region.
story: im trying to add (7 tracks) at once drums, just a section at a time, you know letting it go a little past the next section, then in would start up at the next section, and so on, dividing the song into 3 sections. then i saw the takes thing, becouse the tail of the seven tracks were on top of each other. i was hoping i could easily edit after unpacking, but i hit unpack and now i have 21 tracks all interlaced with no simple way i to drag the ends of the clips . also why cant we drop markers like in reaper. anyway primier (video editor) has a way to simultaneously cut in one place both tracks and sweep it back and forth the right spot. at one time how do i select seven tracks, cut, select the other seven tracks, cut and sweep to propper cuttoff point. then i have 21 tracks of drums that all need to go back up to the original 7. im trying to work fast with a client is sending me raw tracks then i overdub real drums. i need to be able to work fast, mix down get sent to dropbox. etc
Once you have your takes on all tracks, set all drums to a group, and make sure you select it so that editing is also on a group basis. Then in the top left corner of one of the regions go to “flatten” not “flatten and merge”. From there you can edit all tracks at the same time and you’ll be able to fade in between each take. If you get stuck let me know and I’ll see if I can get a quick video together for you!
My brother and I sincerely tried switching to Logic from Cubase a couple years ago, and we had to give up because of the jumps/dropouts during recording. No insult to Logic users, I love SO much about the DAW, but I'm mystified about how users smoothly record takes in it. I feel like I'm missing something, or it's a quirk you get used to (all DAWs have them). Thanks for the great video!
I use Logic Pro professionally and have never experienced anything I'd describe as "jumps" or "dropouts" aside from occasional system overloads from pushing underpowered Macs past their limits or trying to do other resource-intensive tasks in the background. If you elaborate, maybe someone could help you identify the issue!
@@gitpho Yes, I figure almost all life-long Logic users probably know something I don't. Funny: I just trying to recreate the issue right now, but I couldn't. It may have to do with project load, but it's also been a long time since I tracked in Logic. I might do a video on my channel sometime, and ask Logic users "why is this happening?" Cheers!
Markee autopunch, nice. You may have altered my life permanently. 👌🏽👌🏽
Mine too!

For some reason when I use that now, I can't hear the audio before the recording.
Fantastic explanation! The marque tool is the way to go. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

How do you add the little “x’s” on the ends of the vocals to another so it blends in well
I’ll try this, I struggle with punching it in at the right time
Hope it helps!

there's a simple way to fix that but i forgot myself lol
@@ShotByNikoHD I figured it out. Right clicking on Play up in the control bar, uncheck "Play from Marquee Selection". Only works when it's disabled.
One thing I don’t get, whenever I punch in it creates a new take, and then I get pops. How can I get it to merge as an audio file?

@@SamLoose ok i will try it! omg thx
Not being able to cycle punch in in is my #1 Logic annoyance as a guitar player. Why why why after all these years is this still not possible?
Still waiting…
Why I switched to using Reaper -- Reaper is more Powerful than logic Pro, sad but true and I had used Logic Pro for years.
@@FirebrandVOCALS I do love learning new things! Anything you miss that Logic has?
ya gotta just adapt Ronnie. Sometimes life is so unkind. HNY bro. ty 4 vid Sam
Well, I wanted to do those things in Logic. No. Back to Ableton.
