  • Episode#48 Custom Virtual Pinball Cabinet Tutorial Series Extravaganza!
    In this video I show you how I fixed the loss of my Pinup Popper leds, loss od 32 bit and 64 bit DOF (leds and mechanical toys), and the loss of some of my color dmds after doing the update for 64 bit for all of my programs.
    I highly recommend that you watch and follow along with the Game Club Central's video on how to upgrade your programs to 64 bit and then make the changes in this video if you experience any loss of leds/toys in 32bit/64bit or have your .PAC dmds not working. Here is the link to Marty's video and don't forget to like and subscribe to his channel too!

    Thank you for this video! I will watch this later and hope it's the key to fixing my set up 🤞. I have everything working accept for the stranger things table, which used to work before the 64 bit update.

    Great video! I try to watch tutorials on upgrades (and appreciate all the contributors) but sometimes a few missing steps really add to some long troubleshooting sessions so thanks for sharing how you solved some of these. The Virtual Pinball community is so great with all of the updates and improvements to tables and extras. Glad you are sharing the progress as this continues. Also, appreciate you sharing the link for Game Club Central as that is a new one for me.

      I hope so. Realistically it is only a few things that need to happen beyond the github instructions or Marty's video....it just takes a couple things to mess up the vpin set up for DOF. Thanks for the watch!

    Thank you for another amazing video. My build is comming along nice. Everything works great exept for the leds "ingame". In PP it works pefekt. Have read alot about it and tried alot with no luck. Maybe i need to install the 32 bit DOF aswell? I have never been on 32-bit software i installed 64-bit from start. Dang its funny to play though, so big thanks to you for this videos. My cabinett looks alot yours 🙂 Thanks Emil! Regards from Sweden.

    I have a great appreciation for folks that take the time to fill in the gaps and inform on the common pitfalls of other guides on the interwebs. This is why I consider you one of the greats in the hobbyist DIY space. Keep up the good work!
    Could the issues detailed here be mitigated by setting up both 32 and 64-bit instances from the start? Or is that even an option?

      You're very welcome! Just trying to help people out in situations where I got stuck. Not sure but a fresh baller installer with the new updater is probably the best way to start. I think DOF is still required to setup though. Thanks for the watch!

    Great video as always! Thanks!
    Quick question though. I notice you installed the dof config files straight into the direct output folders? I’m currently building a new cab and my old cab had these files stored in the config folder within direct output. Any reason why this was different on my old cab? Should I install them as you have done?
    Thanks!!

    • @wayofthewrench
      @wayofthewrench  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I believe that you can put them where you like but that you have to setup/tell global config where it resides. If it works, do it. Hope that helps. Thanks for the watch!

    There's a 64 bit pinup player plugin out now

      Yes, I need to eventually update that as well but I might just do a complete fresh install of everything on a future new big budget PC upgrade. Thanks for the watch and the suggestion! Cheers!

    Awesome video, but I’m still too chicken to update. My 32 bit tables (& I have a bunch) work fine. A lot of the new 10.8 tables work on 10.7. When I get up the courage, I’ll be sure to rely on this tutorial. Thanks!!

    • @wayofthewrench
      @wayofthewrench  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! Don't worry, just do what I'm doing. Keep the default launcher as whatever you have ( mine's vpx 10.7 32 bit) and add vpx 10.7 64 bit as an alternative launcher and add vpx 10.8 64 bit as another alternative launcher. Then as you add tables you can select which version you want. You got this. Thanks for the watch and your support for the channel! Cheers!

    Thanks!! A big help! Unfortunately I still dont have my MX lighting in 64 bit. The same table in 32 (AFM G5K) MX works fine, but the MX only doesnt work. I have the latest DOF config loaded in BOTH DOF folders. Any ideas?

    • @wayofthewrench
      @wayofthewrench  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds like a .ini file is missing or in the wrong folder/missing from the 64 bit folder. Take a look at game club Central's video on 64 bit and then mine and see what's missing. Good luck!

    Thanks for another great video. I have used your video series to build my cabinet. My only challenge is getting teensy and my addressible leds working. I imstalled nailbusters 64bit install. Is there something else i need to do with dof. Any guidance is greatly appreciated

    • @wayofthewrench
      @wayofthewrench  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you need to install DOF as it is not included in baller installer. I have several videos on how to setup everything you need to know. Just look in my playlist, it's in order of what you need to do. Thanks for the watch and your support for the channel! Cheers!

      Thank you for your quick reply. I had dof 64 bit installed and it appears active. Do I also need to install and run 32bit version or are vpx tables happy with the 64 bit version. I am using a pinscape kl25z controller and wired led lights for the buttons. They light at times with pinup popper and during games. I assume this is dof working. I do not get any effects however. I'm wondering if my dof config file is not right. Thanks again

    • @damienaile
      @damienaile 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Have now managed to get my addressable leds working. Needed to modify my dof config file as well as finally managing to upload a hex file on to my teensy 4. Next challenge is to get the led matrix working correctly have tried a couple of alternative directions but does not seem right. I used arnoz's hex file. Would this impact the output. If so are you aware of an alternative teensy 4 hex file. My searching has not managed to find an alternative. Thanks for your assistance

    Have you configured DOFLinx yet? I never play FP tables, but I do use it for FX3/2 and MAME vertical games I put on my vpin. After I added MAME to my vpin I added VPX, along with a 96x8 matrix and strips to my arcade cabinet.

    • @TerryRed
      @TerryRed 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      DOFLinx is not needed for FP tables to have DOF anymore (FP PinEvent tables use DOF directly). DOFlinx is more required for FX2/FX3/FX/MAME. Also, give the FP PinEvent tables a try, as their physics are now close to nFozzy physics on VP, and they are tables you can't get on VP.

    • @wayofthewrench
      @wayofthewrench  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No not yet but it's on my list. Now that Pinevent tables have DOF, not sure if it's even worth it. I really only play vpx but I will be messing with future pinball in the future. I also need to upgrade to an HD led matrix. Thanks for the watch!

    • @Vidal2021
      @Vidal2021 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At first I thought I was unique, but I am discovering more and more, people with vpins, only, or primary, play vpx. I personally just can't get used to FP's physics. I added a pinevent wheel, but the one game I have there ihas issues with the ARGB matrix and side strips and I am not motivated to fix it. The MAME games that have triggers work very well with the ARGB. It not pinball, but with a cab and argb, it's an fairly easy and entertaining addition that you could ponder for more vpin content. Thanks for great video instructional.

    Does the reflection from your LED panel interfere with the display when playing?

    • @wayofthewrench
      @wayofthewrench  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not at all. Not sure if it's my angles of the monitors but I get zero glare. I do get glare from my very very bright shop lights though so they go off when I play. Thanks for the watch!

      @wayofthewrench thank you for making the videos! In the middle of my build and don't know if I could have done it without these. The only problem is I've fallen in love with your machine and am having trouble not copying it all the way down to the artwork! It's stunning. Indiana Jones, and Adam's Family are close runners up for me though.

  • @echodun
    @echodun 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I had this .vni issue originally, but since I upgraded to 64-bit, it's no longer an issue and I have no .vni reference in my dvddevice.ini file. pac files work fine without it.

    • @wayofthewrench
      @wayofthewrench  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe the absolute newest versions have this built in or bypassed. It is kinda redundant to add a key when it can be just bypassed. Thanks for the watch!

  • @deadmousyplutaprestige8771
    @deadmousyplutaprestige8771 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The main reason I haven't upgraded to 64bit is pup packs have a tendency to not run or not shut off when you switch tables. I have darn near 2500 tables, VPX and Future. So I can't play Defenders and a few others plus what's to come as it's developed. I'll live.

    • @wayofthewrench
      @wayofthewrench  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do what I do. Add vpx 64 as an alternative launcher and keep any pup pack tables on the default vpx that's 32 bit. Then you have the option to add new tables with or without 64 bit. Thanks for the watch!

  • @TerryRed
    @TerryRed 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    The 64 bit DOF update has been a headache for me because for some people they registered the 64 bit DOF (and you aren't supposed to do that), which messes up DOF for Popper, and FP, etc. So that causes all my FP PinEvent releases (if they have DOF enabled) to throw an error because now DOF is trying to force 64 bit for everything (and FP is 32 bit). There is a solution to fix your 32 bit DOF (if this happens) that I include in my FP FAQ and Help Guide (included with my FP and BAM Essentials AIO package). th-cam.com/video/uo_U5du3aoY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IoZlk2R6Bix7F6SU&t=1109

    • @wayofthewrench
      @wayofthewrench  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I bet! I did know not to register the 64 but so this wasn't my problem but I have heard of a bunch of people doing this. Thanks for all your hard work with Future Pinball Terry! Cheers!
