  • Julian Lara is the second generation owner of Lara Farms in Redland, Florida. We visited his nursery and farm to talk about all the delicious tropical fruits he grows and tropical fruit trees he sells. In this video, he talks about Mamey Sapote.

GREAT Spot!!!!! I LOVE Sapotes, Make US. Ate them whenever I could buy in local Stores when I lived in Kiss. FL. I WISH, More were shipped elsewhere. I think, the problem with That, other than people afraid to try, is they are usually expensive, even though they Are Large, heavy fruits. I LOVE THEM!!!! WISH I COULD get a steady diet of them!!!!

Jeez I’m definitely moving back to Florida in a couple years. I love growing my own tropical fruit and you just cannot do that in Pennsylvania where I live. It’s either apples grapes or pears and I’m tired of those.

Great video! Do you happen to know if green sapotes also need another variety for fruit set? Mine flowered but didn't set any fruit. :(
