This has been my struggle as a new revert of 2 weeks. Tried going to the local Masjid, they're only open during prayer times. So I come back for mighrib, still locked. On my way out a brother waves me down and unlocks it. When I go in he's disappeared for a while then comes back and does mighrib. I'm standing in the doorway the whole time not knowing where to go or what to do. I don't exist to him. It made me cry. And honestly I don't want to go there again. I do all my prayers at home with a TH-cam video guiding me. Even the "sponsor" that I reach out to for questions only gets back to me every three to five days, as best she can Isha Allah. So I'm doing this alone. I can't imagine how much harder this would be if I had a family that pushed me away for trying. Alhamdulillah I give thanks to Allah swt for the strength to persevere through hardship. I'm grateful learning about Islam is simple but I definitely feel like the community isn't there. At least not in my area. Makes me want to move if I could.

Subhanallah, this is so needed. My late mother reverted in the UK in 1965. On reflection that year and years ahead was like leaving an abusive relationship but having to visit and stay in contact with the abusers who are family. She had no support at that time. My opinion is that many sisters and brothers reverting now must still feel like leaving an abuser. They need help and support. Early days are the most risky from a spiritual and emotional sense and also at time a risk of physical harm too. May Allah bless and reward my mother and all those who struggled and still struggling
I am a born muslim and i was slowly getting attached to the materialistic world... i wouldnt say i was losing my faith because i have never not believed "Allah is the only God and Prophet Muhammad pbuh is his messenger". But after past few months my connection to God has been strongest it has ever been.. i am praying 5 times a day i completely stop using swear words... and i have this overwhelming sensation in my heart to go and help the needy and the poors.
Alhamdulilah for the blessings of Allah for opening the hearts of so many people to learn Islam and to accept hi deen.,but the biggest challenge is to provide them with the true knowledge of Islam and deen
Asalam walaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu my beloved brothers and sisters from Aotearoa New Zealand. Love this talk brothers spot on Imam Wesley Lebron.... Someone give him 10mil!!!
May Allah grant you both immense success in moving this project forward, surely it can`t be that difficult to get organised to get people and organisations and mosques together, we have such a powerful message to get across to the none muslims, may we do better especially me, I love your idea of having devout well educated mentors for new muslims its a brilliant idea, hopefully you can roll it out and the muslims local to you will get involved, may Allah bless your efforts
As a revert of 19.5 years, when people revert to Islam they need 2 things basic knowledge and brotherhood/sisterhood. Muslims put efforts into dawah to get people to revert but lack efforts in supporting reverts with gaining basic knowledge and brotherhood/sisterhood. When I became Muslim Alhumdallah I had lots of brotherhood around me and lots of help in seeking the basic knowledge. That helped me big time. The brotherhood included a sort of mentoring elders and an Imam who I could ask any question too. Plus I was taught how to seek knowledge, where to seek knowledge and who to seek knowledge from. This helped me so much. But one thing that was very difficult was finding a wife. Reverts often need extra help to find a spouse over and above born Muslims. So top four things to help reverts: Explaining to reverts how to seek knowledge, what to learn, where to learn, who to learn from etc. Giving them support with brotherhood or sisterhood - who they can hang with, talk to etc. Helping them to get married. A mentor/mentors (elders in the community who have some knowledge and are religious or a imam) who the revert can ask questions too regularly and get answers from.
Very relevant conversation. It should touch the conscience of every Muslim around the world.Thank you both for doing what you are doing. You assure me that Islam is in good hands.
salaam to both of you imams, may Allah s.w.t. bless you, your knowledge and your effort and ease your work so you be a mean for others to connect with Allah the Almighty. Every mosque should strive to create a micro environment where knowledge is tqngibley practiced, such environment is necessary for growing young muslims as well as people interested in Islam.
may Allah preserve the beloved Imam Wesley, he reminds me so much of my tenured uncle who talks like him, acts like him, is open minded and, he is absolutely correct, we should be ashamed of ourselves for not looking out for our fellow brothers and sisters, may Allah truly grant us selflessness and protect us from jealousy and envy of our brothers and sisters in the bad way.

Awesome. There needs to be an on boarding program for new Muslims for the first 30-60-90 days as well as a loan for new Muslims who are facing financial issues as a result of being rejected by their families, like the mother who cut off her daughter's tuition.
