Alhamdullah Allah blessed you. I was raised in Newark Nj, there's something very special about NJ, so many people that I grew up with in Newark accepted Islam, alhamdullah.

Bro the "it's a matter of faith" phrase hits hard. I remember a Pastor telling me something similar when i asked him about the "mother of God" idea (Astagfirulah) and apparently i didn't link Jesus with God there...
I saw Jesus, a man, and God, the unseen all powerful creator on the other.
I'm Argentinian but actually raised in Spain, in a "Catholic" Catalonian village... I say Catholic like that because they are the religious community who have the Church in the mild of the Village, but people are mostly agnostic/liberals probably...
They are a bit distant with people who are not their brethern, but a lot are good people, may Allah guide them.
Alhamdulillah a year ago i embraced Islam, of course i'm being tried constantly, because Allah is ever testing of his servants...
I something think about sectarianism and innovations being an issue, but in the end we do have the Quran preserved and we can say with certainty "i'm from the muslims" and try our best.
Our issues are minor compared to every other religion... and honestly there will always be tests until Judgement Day when Allah will inform us on every difference we had and who was right...

Sectarianism does not come from religion, but rather from human's ego.

Especially insisting in stuff that is ambiguous and making it doctrinal.
Because we can have legit differences of opinion, but arrogance is what widens the division and destroys the base unity we should have always as believers (or ones who claim to be at least).

I pray for unity and for my own good character, a lot of people getting agitated over secondary issues sometimes, or defending ideas with very few proof as if they were core ideas directly revealed...

Alhamdullilah for your sincerity. I noticed reverts make better Muslims than born Muslims. You are more passionate about doing dawah. In my country, South Africa, there's no street dawah like in the UK.We are a small group in number countrywide.The late Ahmed Deedat was from here. He had set up the Islamic Propagation centre in Durban in the '60s.and was very successful, not as prominent now after his death.Currently there are other organisatiinal programs inviting the African communities, but the success rate is not as high as in the UK and USA.
Pick up Dr/Imam Deedat’s banner and continue as he did. May Allah open and bless his grave. May Allah bless the sight of his grave with to many blessings. May Allah grant him Jannah Firduos as soon as he transitioned. He was the very best in this life so May Allah grant him the very best in the next life.

Amazing story. He is genuinely doing good. God choose him for a reason. And this is how a halal community should look like. When you work for non-halal companies or owners Usery becomes rampant, which then have potential to push you away from religion. If bunch of people decide we want everything halal then they come together instead of being divided sky is the limit. You can't blame your kids for not following path when you are divided and want your kids in non-halal schools. Unity is needed. I was looking in NY you have so many small divided halal meat stores yet if these people come together they can open a Grand location like a huge supermarket all can chip into it, follow by Grand mosque, follow by Grand schools system, follow by Grand halal college, follow by Grand halal companies products but they choose to be greedy and remain divided. Large in number yet still choose to divide. UNITE
We have to recognize the economic disparities that affect all of us, they find it more advantageous to follow the hyper-individualism that capitalism perpeptuates. We have to unite against the economic systems that are harmful to the people!

The Imam is like a Phoenix. He was burned and then he flew so high. I pray that Allah will answer his prayers. I’m so happy to listen to him speak. I’m not Hispanic, maybe some American Indian but I reverted to Islam more than 30 years ago. It’s just so wonderful to see so many races becoming Muslim. Allow me to share a formula for forgiveness as taught by my late brother. He told me to use this 7 excuse as a way to forgive others when they hurt us.
They are not bad or evil, they are naughty like children.
They are not stupid, they didn't know.
They forgot.
They are sick.
They are angry.
They are desperate, in need.
They just needed to be taught to be better.
So we leave the task to Allah. We just forgive them, pray for them and leave them to Allah.
I kept using these excuses when dealing with difficult people, difficult situations. Over time, it gets easier.
N the best thing is i find myself using these excuses to beg forgiveness from people, from Allah for my errors. Syukur alhamdulillah.
