This channel is such an inspiration. It's so interesting and your attitude towards Andy's condition and how to cope with it is fascinating and inspiring. This channel should have hundreds of thousands of subs its brilliant. Your doing a fantastic job, it isn't easy
Happy to hear the social worker is seeing Andy doing better and recognizing the weight loss was due to illness. Hopefully the accidents at school resolve with his feeding normalizing again.
After watching your FM vlogs avidly since your 24hour vlog, I've just realised you do a vlog based around your son, can I just say how refreshing it is to see people vlogging real life, I seriously commend you Kev, your an awesome dad, it gives me even more pleasure and drive to watch your vlogs do you can sustain a home life dedicated to your son and family , keep up the awesome work!
My partner's 21 year old autistic brother weighs seven stone and is nearly six foot tall. He's perfectly healthy (e.g. you can't see his ribcage) but because of a leaky gut, food intolerances, and a whole load of interactions between his brain and his gut he's on a very restricted diet. We've had people ask questions (sometimes quite rudely) if we're looking after him properly because he weighs so little. I don't really have a point I just want you to know you're not alone! Keep up the good work guys, I'm glad your social worker could see you are doing well :)
really had to stop myself from commenting on yesterdays vlog after reading the comments. I feel that a lot of people must not have been watching your vids properly and had no understanding of the situation. I commend you Kev for replying to people so well. glad it all went well and that Andy is feeling better as well you and Anna are two amazing people much love guys xxx
Some schools will allow flexi-schooling in specially occasions so the student would only be there part time is this something that could work for Andy?
You're awesome parents and I love Andy's expressions and how he lights up at the small things. Keep up the good vlogging. I have mild autism myself and consider myself very fortunate not to have it more severe. These vlogs spread autism awareness which the world needs so desperately and makes me feel like part of an understanding community. I'll try and send a few items off your wishlists along with a letter when I get my first paycheck next month.
I understand the comments, believe me. My daughter was born very early and has always been on the very thin side. When she was Andy's age people would approach her and ask if she was anorexic or some other disorder. People have not the right to ask such damaging questions due to not knowing what the situation may be. I did comment about the feeding tube but I was in no way questioning your parenting skills or trying to be disparaging. I am fairly new to the channel and already see that you two are great parents with Andy's best interest at heart. I only was trying to help (although I am not a medical professional but I do play one on TV) in some way. Thanks for the vlogs!
Just a thought RE the accidents at school - when he was ill was was he snotty? And does he sniff rather than blow his nose? Mucus from colds can cause upset tummies and bowel issues like that if he sniffs. So hopefully it could just be that! Massive fan of the vlogs abd glad it all went well with the social worker and glad Andy is feeling better - yoh can tell he looks a lot better!
Here are some of the things that stood out when I did a little of my own research. You may already have covered, considered or tried exploring these but I thought I'd just post them anyway, in case you see something you might have missed or have not yet tried. I'm am a problem solver, by nature and by trade, I hope you can accept this as my way of trying to help out. I would only hope something in here pops out as a potential thing to try. Otherwise, someone else reading the vlog could potentially find the info. helpful. Take good care. Catagories: Medical?, Sensory? Behavioral? - Gastrointestinal (GI) problems particularly esophageal, re-flux and or chronic abdominal pain. Screening for underlying GI problems and oral or motor issues. Screening to assess sufficient nutritional intake? Half of all children with autism spectrum disorders have clinically significant gastrointestinal symptoms. Intestinal biopsies and other assessments find unique forms of inflammatory bowel disease including enterocolitis, esophagitis, and gastritis, gastro-esophageal re-flux disease (GERD) and constipation . Food allergies and food intolerance should also be considered as part of the medical screening. Could Andy have a particular sensitivity to temperature or texture? Could the smell of foods be a significant factor? - Speech therapies (Mouth, through development of fine motor control), occupational therapies (posture, utensils) can treat obvious fine motor deficits, i.e., may have trouble chewing and swallowing. Occupational therapists can help them learn to chew, and to swallow, food of different consistencies or textures, "oral-motor therapy." can address sensory intolerance, sensory preferences. Does he tend to only eat smaller pieces of food items, the few times I've seen Andy eat crisps he seems to only take tinny bits at a time. - Children overcome sensory problems by repeatedly exposing them to a food item they may be refusing until they eat it. This reduces their defensiveness to unfavorable sensory input, such as sound, light or color. Adverse response may diminishes over time, have them touch the food to their lips. Pair that with reinforcement, praise or an incentive, such as time on the iPad or whatever, and over time, conditioning them to think that this food is associated with good things. - A data driven approach, by which I mean, collect detailed information to try to figure out the "ABC" of a behavior. "A" is "antecedent" -- what occurs right before this behavior occurs? What is associated with it, or what triggers it? "B" is the behavior itself. "C" is the consequence of the behavior. Has the negative behavior been unintentionally rewarded? The aim is to reward and encourage positive behaviors, building up from small successes to bigger ones, while eliminating negative behaviors. - May not have the ability to feel or interpret the feeling of hunger. - Example of delayed effect - no apparent correlation with behavior. A gluten-free, casein-free diet seems a basis for exploring a gastrointestinal connection between behavior and diet. - Is there insistence on “sameness”, issues. Provide chips and pop but also include a few additional small portions of other nutritious choices, keep doing this, the same way, same food, same plate, same place, same everything, every time, both snacks and meals for at least a month. Whatever he doesn't wind up eating you can eat yourself later, but never in front of him, always away from him because his seeing eat this food may become an enabling behavior, if they know your going to eat the extra food choices anyway they'll likely never bother trying it themselves, you'll be unwittingly reinforcing the aversion. Gently start offering foods on a schedule like the school schedule - also use a board (you can have potentially many such boards) one if it helps. Also, take him for a walk just before snack or mealtime, the physical activity may stimulate his body and senses and naturally awaken the desire to eat. Brad
do you think the discharge could be due to lactose intake and an intolerance to it if he's started eating chocolate? Seems to fit inline with it as he hasn't really eaten much dairy thus far.
just want to u are amazing people and andy is so so cute and im from the uk to and i have a friend who i babysit for and her older son has autism and he can be a pain weel im looking after him but i love him and i love all children and i have only just started watching you channel and thought the videos i watched were awsome xxxx
Glad that the social worker visit went well. I'm sure those are extremely stressful. Andy looks to be doing better. Congratulations on 30K! I remember when it was barely over 4K. :)
If it helps any, the lad I care for is now 26, until he was 24 he ate only yoghurts and bananas. We took a stand with Him one day at Drayton manor and told him he wasn’t allowed on the rollercoaster until he ate the chicken... it worked... now he eats anything and everything!
They actually take care of those kind of predicaments in school ? Here where I work in the US the parents are usually told to come down immediately and deal with the situation.
Poor Andy now has the sharts ☹️ poor love may have had a gut infection. Glad he’s eating now.. When will he have a hair cut and how does he cope with that? Anna you don’t even need make up! 😊
Thanks for taking the time to reply kev! Your on it what’s the secret? ahead with vlogs catching up with comments.. red bull? That bit of time off must of done you good. Figured Andy wouldn’t like the chop do you go to barbers or mange yourself? My friends boy has a nightmare in the barbers with him because they get frustrated with him and he has autism. Will you cover bit of it in a vlog I’m sure people would love to no how you tackle the issue. Andy is lucky to have you. You guys are brilliant!
lollujo Vlogs Wow, there's a great example to tell people about the struggles of autism. I can't believe he is keeping himself alive on basically only crisps. It's sad that there's nothing you can do. Usually you can give em the good old feeding tube once it gets bad, but as you said not even that will do anything. Any chance you can search up some videos of someone trying new foods or just eating in general and put them on repeat? With the chance that he might want to copy the person in the video?
I’m not sure I can’t remember but didn’t you guys say that all he eats is crisps? Lol That’s not a very good diet have you guys ever thought about getting him on a feeding tube so that he can put on all the nutrients and the nutrition he needs Poor guy looks exhausted 24 seven 💔anyway just wanted to know have a good day love ur vlog😟😕😀
We’ve talked about this quite often in recent videos. The short version is a feeding tube is considered the absolute last resort and we’re a long way from the last resort at the moment
I’ve been using Joakim Karud music on the vlog for about 9 months. Originally found him through Casey but now I’m forever on his sound cloud trying to find new music to use

Don’t worry, it’s completely reasonable for someone to suggest it - some people just don’t accept it when we explain why it’s not a option for him
Thank you and yes, I totally get it. After asking I thought NO, that is not an option. Thank you again for your understanding. Have a great weekend!
Well done for hitting 30,000 subs I wish you luck and you to have a better life does that sound meet idk lets just say hope you are ok and your son

do more of andy by the way well done on 30k keep working hard
Andy’s in the vlog as much as he wants to be. Some days he just doesn’t feel like it.
do you think the discharge could be due to lactose intake and an intolerance to it if he's started eating chocolate? Seems to fit inline with it as he hasn't really eaten much dairy thus far.
It could be - we already know he’s lactose intolerant, he has lactose free custard with his cereal.
I do the same as Andy, i take my socks and shoes off soon as i come threw the door. I have stomoc truble.
just want to u are amazing people and andy is so so cute and im from the uk to and i have a friend who i babysit for and her older son has autism and he can be a pain weel im looking after him but i love him and i love all children and i have only just started watching you channel and thought the videos i watched were awsome xxxx

I'm glad the lad has a more varied diet,
However if Anna and Kev did this Andy would starve himself as he would rather do that than. Try new food
Had veggie pizza on Thursday at work it was nice
Cheers kev, Im trying to eat my dinner
Sorry! It caught me by surprise, I didn’t have time for a warning!
Congrats on 30K
You guys are amazing parents and Andy will be just fine you’re all over it like a dirty shirt lol
You do a great job Kev.
They actually take care of those kind of predicaments in school ? Here where I work in the US the parents are usually told to come down immediately and deal with the situation.
He’s at a specialist school, they have to deal with far worse throughout the day.
CONGRATULATIONS ON 30K! been here since 8k lol
love how you say splendid haha :)
I am thinking about going to truckfest in Peterborough. How long does it take to get from Nottingham to Peterborough in car
About an hour and a quarter
Happy 30k
We send stuff to my uncle in USA from post office so thats stupid lol
I think it’s because I was at the sorting office rather than a proper post office
Caption competition at the end there? "Please make sure..." Hmm. Please make sure you dress in drag and do the hula!
I have a smart fone. Not very good with one tho.
Great vlog :)😊
Love your videos
Thay have some nice food there.
Poor Andy now has the sharts ☹️ poor love may have had a gut infection. Glad he’s eating now.. When will he have a hair cut and how does he cope with that? Anna you don’t even need make up! 😊
We plan on giving him a haircut next week sometime. He doesn’t like it...

Do you know what is a dangerous weight for a 13 year old boy? im 5 stone and i think it could be getting a bit dangerous for my health
do you think i should go to the doctor about this matter?
How tall are you bud ?
Andy is 13 and his doctor was happy at 5.5 stone, but not at 4.5 stone. It depends on your height. If you’re concerned, go and see a doctor
first of all thanks for all the replies, im 4"10 so pretty small for my age. i think i am going to visit the doctor and go from there
Yeah, I've run your BMI, it is quite low. Probably a good idea to pop into the doctors for a chat :)
Wooohoo 30k
Does andy's school not have a school uniform ?
They do, but it’s optional and he doesn’t like wearing it
What does Andy usually eat for breakfast and dinner?
The same things he eats the rest of the day - mainly just crisps
lollujo Vlogs Wow, there's a great example to tell people about the struggles of autism. I can't believe he is keeping himself alive on basically only crisps. If you remember let me know how he gets on with it (if he picks it up within the next few weeks) 😂
Of course, I remember you asking now! Thanks!
lollujo Vlogs no worries, the lip gloss for Lucy is from me as well and that should be the last of the extremely late Christmas presents

Put the crips on a plate Haha
He has them on a plate usually. Sometimes he just empties them on to the table though. No idea why
if it me or does Kev look like an agent driving
I might have got autism
Cute fluffy Unicorns 123 have you found out yet?
The diarrhoea may be just because he's starting to eat again and his gut is getting used to it. I'm a nurse. X
Andy can have some of my weight if he wants it? ¬_¬
Just noticed this might come across as taking the piss given the potential seriousness of the situation. Was just intended as a light-hearted jest.
I keep offering him some of mine but he’s not interested
Early.
I would like to make vidos but i dont no how.
If you’ve got a smartphone it’s quite easy on one. There’s lots of tutorials on TH-cam
