Come and See! I once was a Roman Catholic, and I had no idea about Orthodoxy. Then our Canoicus said a phrase: "The Orthodox must be in the Truth, for they have the Holy Spirit as Christ locum tenens." That stuck and finally I made my way to an Orthodox Church, there was a Vigil just starting, and I was blown away, it was like Coming Home, it was like finding the place you always wanted to be, I wept likely the whole service, and became katechumen. *Come and See!*

Hello Anna, During the lock downs in the UK there were plenty of priests continuing to serve. If all churches are closed near you, ask discreetly and find a priest who will bring Holy Communion to your home. This continues regardless of what governments do.
I'm in Canada. Ask to talk to the priest. He can let you in even if you don't comply with the vaccine mandates. If he doesn't keep trying until you find one that does. God bless!
@@annawray2220 Where do you live in Canada that churches are requiring passports? I know some random churches are (not by mandate, but because they just want to), but every single _Orthodox_ parish I’m aware of here in BC does _not_ require vaccination and would be going against the holy canons of the Church by effectively forbidding holy communion to faithful Christians for inordinate reasons. The only requirements some Orthodox parishes have might be masks, but requiring proof of vaccination would be absolutely outrageous (which is why, as Father stated) parishes in areas where that is being mandated by governments are very likely to go about things in the usual way, albeit much more discreetly).
I've talked with UnOrthodox Priests in the past who think we only need to follow and New Testament and I could never agree with this - they are leaving out part of the story. To forget about Creation or the Exodus for example - I don't understand how they could come to this way of thinking. They also believe that the Old Testament was too rigid but how are we to originally learn about self discipline and how God tried repeatedly to teach the people or have them turn to Him? Interesting because yesterday at my church our priest was reading genealogy of Christ from the Bible, and afterwards gave a very similar speech explaining why he read the particular part.
Father, the ancestors of St Joseph were repentant sinners, some had much greater sins than others, but they were still repentant sinners, were they not? All humans, except the Lord, Who is both fully human & fully divine, are sinners, are we not? But we are called to continual repentance. To reorient ourselves from our passions & distractions, from this world & its temptations, to God, to remember Him, to return to Him, to call on His mercy. I once read a saying of one of our God-bearing Fathers, which taught that on the Last Day no one will be condemned for his sins, but only for not repenting for his sins, for not repenting of those sins.

I must admit that I am not of any denomination as of yet, but I am in search of a church that hasn't been corrupted by greed or judgement of other's. But I know some of the first churches existed in people's homes. I believe that if there are 2 or more person's worshipping, our Lord Jesus Christ will be present with them.
Living by the Spirit is a concious choice I face multiple times every day. But at every crossroads if I take a the leap of faith and follow his will the air is light and my mind finds rest. Praise the Living God 🙌

Orthodoxy certainly has its serious problems and lingering issues, yes, but if you do not care about the next life, you do not care about any wife or children.
Orthodoxy correctly involves discipline and nothing is good without discipline. The Western World is caught up in cheap pleasures that are empty like constantly having to be entertained. Stoicism thought ancient time was the truly good life and ascestism brings real joy because we are freed from being obsessed with things and the feel good nonsense of the spirit of the age. We enjoy life just fine and we transcend the flesh life is truly great. How many successful people in the modern world are miserable and how many more suicides we have in this modern age when we have everything.
The Orthodox Church does not condemn the traditional lifestyle of having a family. Not everyone is borne out of the desire for rigorous asceticism. But this lifestyle can only claim and live out its true meaning within Christ, for then it is given eternal meaning. There is no point in living your best life in the temporary since it will not matter if you lived well or lived terribly -- all will waste away and cease. In other words, all is in vain. But by living a life in which our definition of "good" is in line with Christ and His commandments, our temporal lives are thus embedded within transcendental meaning and relevance; we live for Christ just as He lived for us, and thus experience the joy of the everlasting age to come. So, then, there is much reason to care for the next life. A life of marriage then, for example, can truly lead to salvation through the many trials that it ensues. In Christ, this lifestyle, albeit temporal, has meaning, since it can lead to salvation. Indeed, I invite you to ponder on this further, and pray that Christ guides you in your journey. All the best.

I must admit that I am not of any denomination as of yet, but I am in search of a church that hasn't been corrupted by greed or judgement of other's. But I know some of the first churches existed in people's homes. I believe that if there are 2 or more person's worshipping, our Lord Jesus Christ will be present with them.
Living by the Spirit is a concious choice I face multiple times every day. But at every crossroads if I take a the leap of faith and follow his will the air is light and my mind finds rest. Praise the Living God 🙌

The genealogy of Christ is of eternal genealogy of God the Father and God the Father alone. Jesus said I and the Father are one ain't no other part in that equation. he was with the Father before this world began went back to the Father after doing the Father's will and now sits at the right hand of the Father. We are not little gods either we are created beings who the the Lord bestows grace and mercy on and to think we are anything more is arrogance. Orthodoxy certainly has its serious problems and lingering issues, yes, but if you do not care about the next life, you do not care about any wife or children.

Orthodoxy correctly involves discipline and nothing is good without discipline. The Western World is caught up in cheap pleasures that are empty like constantly having to be entertained. Stoicism thought ancient time was the truly good life and ascestism brings real joy because we are freed from being obsessed with things and the feel good nonsense of the spirit of the age. We enjoy life just fine and we transcend the flesh life is truly great. How many successful people in the modern world are miserable and how many more suicides we have in this modern age when we have everything.

The Orthodox Church does not condemn the traditional lifestyle of having a family. Not everyone is borne out of the desire for rigorous asceticism. But this lifestyle can only claim and live out its true meaning within Christ, for then it is given eternal meaning. There is no point in living your best life in the temporary since it will not matter if you lived well or lived terribly -- all will waste away and cease. In other words, all is in vain.
But by living a life in which our definition of "good" is in line with Christ and His commandments, our temporal lives are thus embedded within transcendental meaning and relevance; we live for Christ just as He lived for us, and thus experience the joy of the everlasting age to come. So, then, there is much reason to care for the next life. A life of marriage then, for example, can truly lead to salvation through the many trials that it ensues. In Christ, this lifestyle, albeit temporal, has meaning, since it can lead to salvation. Indeed, I invite you to ponder on this further, and pray that Christ guides you in your journey. All the best.

The relation of the Tao to all the world is like that of the great rivers and seas to the streams from the valleys.
