      Hi there it depends on how firm you like your Amasi i get 20 litres on 50 litres of milk because my amasi becomes like ricotta cheese and the rest is whey i hope that helps

    I've been looking for this thanks. I've also realised that milk direct from farm is the best for making amasi. So how long in total 3 days?

    • @en-joycookingwithjoy
      @en-joycookingwithjoy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Silency thanks for the comment. In summer 3 days and in winter 4days. Funny thing is I'm going to the farm this morning to get some fresh milk to make the yoghurt and Amasi but because it's still cold I will leave the milk to sit for 4 days. But I take out the cream on day 2

      @en-joycookingwithjoy Thank you for replying. Good luck with your new batch of amasi. I love that stuff, and I have been trying to make it for years using supermarket milk, and it wasn't the same. A friend has just this last week told me about a farm that sells 'raw' milk, and I just done some. However, I left it for 5 days as I was NOT sure. I love your method, and I plan to use this from now on.

    Mouth was watering, quick question if you want it the consistency like the inkomazi brand would you mix it with all of the wey or just add a cup or two of the wey to the strained solids or maybe just add some fresh milk to the strained solids? Thanks

    • @en-joycookingwithjoy
      @en-joycookingwithjoy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brandon thanks for the awesome question😄 you just strain it for half the time. I usually leave mine for like 8 hours in the cheese cloth so you would do 4 hours that way you still have some whey left over and then just grab a whisk and mix it all together.

    This is great. Thanks for sharing. How long do you leave it to drain in the cheese cloth for?

    • @en-joycookingwithjoy
      @en-joycookingwithjoy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      6 to 8 hours it depends how wet or dry you want it to be

      @en-joycookingwithjoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do I boil the milk?

    • @en-joycookingwithjoy
      @en-joycookingwithjoy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Charity. No you don't boil it you just put your fresh milk on the floor in your kitchen or somewhere warm for 3 days and strain it and that's it.
