Both now. Grew up on oil packed, switched to water at some point when I was out on my own. And, you have encouraged me to try oil again and I like it. Tho, I can’t find really nice tuna in jars locally. I will search online or when I travel! Thank you!
No tuna 😂 I eat sardines or mackeral and only in olive oil. Vegetable oils are actually really toxic. I'll be making all of these recipes using sardines or mackeral.
Shout out to your son. I had no idea people didn’t f with capers. I f’ing LOVE capers, and bread + caper aioli salad is about to be in my life. Thanks!
Carla my son turned me on to you and your channel. I’m a retired classically trained personal chef. These delightful tuna recipes are soon going to be enjoyed in my kitchen. You’re absolutely a joy to watch and yes I’m learning techniques from you they never showed us in culinary school. Food is Love in my home and we always eat pretty food! ❤❤❤
I have to tell you that after a stressful day at work watching this video not only inspired me to make a good dinner but was as relaxing as a chat with a good friend. Carla is Magic
Since you mentioned rotisserie chicken, I would love some recipes with that! Speaking as a young (and poor) mom, I love how cheap those things are from costco, but I hate when i just throw it on top of things. I would love some great recipes that integrate that chicken better. Or another idea, maybe designing some meals based off of some of the groceries provided by WIC, I still want to give my family meals worth eating, ya know?
Do, do, do make soup stock out of the Costco roast chicken bones after using up all the meat. It makes super super great stock. Make any kind of soup with it!
As a caper lover, a caper aioli sounds delicious, and I want it. Just think- a salty, bright, and punchy aioli on a savory chicken sammy!!! Like chicken piccata, but make it a sandwich? Justice for capers!
omg this video was right on time - i wanted to bring tuna mayo rice balls for my first day of work, but have gotten bullied for bringing “smelly” ethnic food to school before so i was hesitating. these recipes really encouraged me and gave me new ideas for lunch as well!! :-) thank you 💖
As the mother of a 9 month old all of these spoke to me. Can’t wait to make them! You’re my favourite food creator on the internet - I’ve been following you for years because I love your energy (and your recipes ofc). Keep being you - thanks Carla!!!
Carla! I just discovered you. I want to tell you that you have absolutely enchanted me with your teaching style and the way you express yourself. God bless you and thank you so much for your time.
What a brilliant idea to use the vitello tonnato sauce as a salad dressing! As a huge fan of vitello tonnato, I know this salad is going to be absolutely delicious. Thank you so much, Carla! 💖
My perilla also jumped pots! Absolutely on team cold tuna salad + hot rice, such a good combo; one of my favorite lunches. Never would have thought of blending canned tuna into a sauce, looks delicious :)
Yes to all the above! Big salad summer is upon us. I’ve been super into the spicy tuna rice bowl recently. I’ve been topping with crisped up lap cheong sausage, saving the fat and using for roasting veg.
I love this episode so much, as a big fan of canned tuna, I rarely find good new and innovative recipes, so this is perfect! Thank you so much, gonna be making all of these!
Carla I genuinely love your videos so much and they bring so much happiness to my day and they’ve really just been a constant in my life for the last 6 yrs!! THATS ALL💗💗💗
My Tuna Bowl that I made on Sunday for lunch. I cooked a pot of rice in a rice cooker put rice in bowl I added on can or tuna packed in water and added that to the bowl. Then I added soy sauce/shoyu,mayo,sesame oil and Tajin to taste. I was going to eat ot with seasoned seaweed but I was too hangry to look for it. Tasty.
(I really hope I don't sound annoying) In Italy it's called 'salsa tonnatA'. In the recipe name 'vitello tonnato' there's a final -o because it refers to the veal being tuna'd, not the sauce; the sauce is called salsa tonnata also in that case. *native Italian speaker
Thank you for making the recipes so easy to follow and accessible! I actually have some canned tuna right now and im excited to try some of these recipes soon!!
I needed this video. I will be making all of these. Thank you. I will also be making a caper aioli bread salad, so, you know, thank your son for me too.
That Spicy Tuna situation is a serious go-to for us when the younglings come over for Sunday lunch. We make a close variation of your recipe and my brother’s kiddos go crazy for it. “Sushi Tacos”
Carla!!!! Been a fan since the day one and honestly you were my favorite on the other channel, but i was there just for you.. never looked back after you started your own yessss❤ Quick question, if I make the tomato soaked, crouton dressing, can i do it the night before? Or will it be too marinated or too thick?
Yum!! Each one of these looks so incredibly delicious and easy. Thank you! PS. Can you indicate whether the recipe is for one person, two people, or maybe more? Would you, for example, eat the entire salad with the beets and egg and tonnato, as plated, or would you share?
the written recipes have servings but yes: each of these served 2 but there's 2x tonnato and 2x tomato vin so you can assemble another batch without having to remake those dressings
Sending this video to all my gym bros 💪💪💪 Made the Tonnato sauce and poured it onto cold pasta. Put some soft boiled eggs on top. Made a pasta-egg salad. Delicious.
Thanks Carla! I was just visiting family in Alaska, and they sent me home with jars of salmon in oil. Do you think it would be a good "spin it" for any of these recipes?
capers and olives are such an adult coded food though. it's just one of those. i think i was around 22 when i really feel in love with olives and 25 when i got into capers. i looove them (also very curious how you would play around with them, how it would differ from how i do it...)
Carla, a humble request for raw beet ideas. I have quite a few in my garden and don’t just want to go down the pickled beet route. That said, I do enjoy beets in all forms.
Lordt the Panzanella is SO GOOD. We added a bit of grated Parmesan on top for some extra funk and saltiness. This was amazing! Time to make a muffalata panzanella next bc I f*CK with capers and olives!
Shiso comes in the normal _GREEN_ version. But there is a _RED_ version too! The red type is called _aka Shiso_ 赤シソ(pronounced ah-ca she-so) or, you guessed it, red Shiso! The RED version is used to make a great red syrup which is mixed with soda water and ice in the summer! Also, if you plant the two of them near each other, you will get a hybrid from the next seed batch which will be neither green nor red. It is really much much better to get new seed each year or to plant them in very different spots. They will drop seeds and come up from those seeds too. They are not perennial plants. Did you know, the _tiny flower buds_ are often served with sashimi, a Japanese raw fish dish. You strip off the tiny but tasty buds and add them to your soy sauce and eat them with the sashimi.
It's sold in many UK supermarkets, usually in the 'free from' section. It will add savouriness and nuttiness but I'm sure you could leave it out and the recipe would still work - perhaps the sauce would be a bit more liquidy as nutritional yeast does have thickening properties.
@@ph_read_be I see, thank you. I never go to that section as I have no need for what’s in it, but now you’ve told me where to find it I’ll get some and make two batches of sauce to compare. I’m definitely not just sprinkling it over the top for texture tho.
I wish I could afford those tuna products in glass jars, but they're a bit too pricey for my budget. What I do get is a case of 12 cans of Portofino tuna from Amazon. It breaks down to a pretty good deal per can, compared to supermarket prices. And it's good tuna. Tuna was a special treat for many years, because growing up in a Catholic household meant Friday was fish day, and it was always tuna. Now I eat it all the time.
I agree and think there are lots of price options out there that still have a sustainability rating. Genova and Bumblebee are used in the video along with Fish Wife!
@@CarlaLalliMusic123 One of these days I will treat myself to one of those tuna brands in glass jars, because I bet they're delicious. But because I eat so much tuna, I have to stick with brands I can afford. Genova is good and I buy that brand, too. I'm with you ... always oil-packed tuna.
Why is tonight's Carla video different from all other videos? That on all other video nights we eat both both tuna and other fish' ; that on other nights we eat many vegetables, but on this night we eat Basil, Pirrello leaves, that on the other nights, we dip veggies in Tunella sauce once, but tonight twice; that on other nights people eat sitting and some reclining, but tonight we are all reclining because we're eating so much Carla yummies.
Tuna in a jar vs tuna in a can vs tuna packed in oil vs tuna packed in water. WHOMST ARE YOU????
Great episode! I can see me making the tonato sauce for sure! And oil, of course.
Both now. Grew up on oil packed, switched to water at some point when I was out on my own. And, you have encouraged me to try oil again and I like it. Tho, I can’t find really nice tuna in jars locally. I will search online or when I travel! Thank you!

Tuna in jars is $$$$$$$$$$!!!! Yummy tho
Carla's cook books are super awesome! Buy them. They are filled with great advice and recipes. She's no joke. She's a professional.
The thing I absolutly LOVE with Carla's recipe is that, by the end of the day, you can do whatever you want, they are so flexible !
Shout out to your son. I had no idea people didn’t f with capers. I f’ing LOVE capers, and bread + caper aioli salad is about to be in my life. Thanks!

Right????
"Is this chicken or is this fish?"
"It's tuna - it's fish"
"But it's chicken"
"Of the sea"
"It says chicken.."
"Of. ... The ... Sea"

A part of me secretly hopes you were a big food network star the same way ina garten was before. Love your stuff so informative and superbly delicious
I made her dream salad for dinner tonight and it was SO GOOD. My husband was eating it before it even hit the table.❤
I just bought my bread today so I tried microwaving it and that zapped some moisture out before putting it in the oven. My hungry tummy couldn’t wait!
Hey, CREATING recipes/meals is obviously your great creative skill.
canned tuna really comes in handy. canned fish in general is really
love sardines, smoked herring is my favorite so far though
tinned fish is soooo good, im having tinned mackerel for lunch with some rice and avocado, sardines are always a classic

Tuna anchovy dressing with basil?! Never heard of it but sign me up. Looking forward to it.

Carla thought we wouldnt notice the cut at 4:03 where she replaced the blender mixture with Sherwin Williams "pesto green" paint
Thrilled to try these, simply thrilled.
They all look really good! Thanks Carla 😊
would absolutely love love loveeee to see more canned fish recipes!!!
I used to use gochujang for the spicy tuna but now I might have to try adding sriracha too 😋

Justice for GenX indeed - all these look delicious
Tuna in oil with a bit of soy sauce some spring onions and soba noodles… my lazy meal…

can't wait to try this

I made the spicy tuna bowl today! No Furikake though because I couldn’t find it (I checked a couple stores)

Yes and yes

im convinced you're a genius
See when other people say it, it seems so nice. But when Iiiiiii say it, it sounds so conceited!
