I wish that the items had a visual effect, like if picking up the green paint bucket would add green to the enemies, or something like that. Just the thought of the colors and patterns that appear on paintings changing slowly as you progress in a run is really cool to me. Like if enemies are hit by the paint bucket splatters, leave the bucket color on the board instead of the enemy color, maybe the fire trail burns away paint as you walk around, making a black trail that shows where you walked. And maybe items that don't directly affect the board like those could add new patterns when you kill enemies. There is so much potential to add insane variety to the paintings, but as of right now they start to feel very samey very fast.
@@Retromation best thing is. I somehow didn't hear that. nice to liste to the videos in the background at work. Also I don't expect best gameplat from you but best entertainment and that you deliver
At the shop, it was interesting and unique in the game genre to be able to interact with the art piece (melted clock on the tree, brick wall with one missing) if the player possesses the relic/item that corresponds to the art - like the brick that fits the missing piece. While RNG based, it allows for a bit of roguelike progression through recognition - pick the less optimal item now because it is the key to unlock an opportunity later if encountered. Cool idea. It would be even more engaging if the player were able to have some agency to direct towards the specific art opportunities. Something like a map maybe with known zones and the ability to choose the zone. That way, when you pick up the missing brick, you could take it to the wall on purpose.
I really love the concept and even though it doesn't actually add anything game play wise, I think it'd be rather cool for one-liner "fun facts" about the art styles so anyone interested can go look stuff up.
how does that board work? shader? but some overlay with each other, does the lag cause by overdraw? I have so many question, I really shouldn't make my hobby into my job, I can't even enjoy normal gameplay anymore
"So we attack faster when we have more paintings... so I'll probably just keep them" proceeds to sell them all. Also the game audio in all your recordings is way too low. This has been an issue since at least Hades Whether you complain about a noise being too loud or rave about the game music, we barely hear any of it compared to your voice.

It does drop little green splotches, and those are what activate the item when an enemy steps on them... But I know what you mean and I agree
10:53 they are totally singing "something sad" i already loved the sounds in the game but now it's incredible 😂
This song is "Something Sad" by Kanalizacija
It goes HAAAARD
"We shoot faster with more paintings, so we should keep 'em" he says while selling all his paintings
29:50, how many of you are going to expose yourselves lol.
It was a bit frustrating until you said that tho lol, saying that while selling the art and not elaborating was confusing

This looks really fun. I like the way you can use paintings for rerolls or certain upgrades or sell them for cash.
The noises the enemies makes are just like the fly swatter game on Mario paint for super NES
“How do I make good art.”
Me an artist: … the eternal question …
This game has the charm of janky, low-production quality games but looks really well made. Also damn you are pretty good at it.
This makes me wanna get some brushes and go to town on a canvas
God, the music is so good. Like holy shit it goes so hard on the boss fights
thanks! here's a full album with some of the music from antipaint: th-cam.com/video/CayNZgKgpvw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9r53nIj6vrnlI7uv

Using your skill decreases the fame meter.
Was super fun to watch ❤
Looks interesting. Though the problem of "i can't see anything" seems like it might be an issue.
