I dunno why, but the special grenade animation tickled me. Hi, I'm holding a bomb with a lit fuse, psych it's a smaller stick of dynamite, double psych, it's a teeny tiny bomb, that does all the damage. :P
Sweet how the backgrounds throughout the journey flow into each other - you see the pig king's skull hangout in the distance before you get there ... Full of little touches like that
I realized the reason why changing your mana value isn’t permanent is because the number resets, it’s not a permanent number it only changes max mana to account for 5+ mana
This is such a neat game ! I love the visual aesthetics and the twists to things like the HP bar. When this fully releases you should def run this as a series. It’s also very relaxing to listen to
The concept of this game is fantastic! Thank you for the discovery. There's a nice simple combo to have more fun with the dice: saving the one dice (card) to use on the one dice (relic) to get more uses on average. It's especially bonkers with dice upgrades and dice buffs :D
I need more of this game in my life, Retro! Definitely would love to see more runs, especially as full game release approaches! You're one of the few channels I watch to learn about new rougelikes and deckbuilders and what not, so many great games I have acquired thanks to your videos!
Oh man! i played the original game jam game that this came from, it was called "Dice is the way" and i remember even then with there being like 5 battles thinking "oh i love this i love this i need it to be a full game" so happy to see it come this far!
I love it. Just enough crazyness to be a fresh take on the genre to get you hooked and with a seemingly nice difficulty to it. Plus the art style is amazing. Can't wait for the full version.
One of the few games I found BEFORE seeing your video on it... It was so good I knew you'd have a video on the way though. Thanks again for filling my library with gems.
I felt like it was obvious that the dev of this game was a fan of MTG, then I noticed that the wolf is called a "Throat Wolf" which is an infamous non-existent card in MTG. Its almost like a cryptid card, people claimed it existed but didn't.
hi! you're one of the first indies games chanel that i watch to be informed on video games and new gameplay! tx a lot!! give us a stoneshard review please :)
This game looks pretty good. I like the art the and unique card effects like being able to change any number on the screen. That is cool as hell. Thanks for sharing this one bro! Have a good one! ✌️
i just completed a run of the demo myself, and HOLY SHIT is was soooo much fun, and i did not even feel like a scrathed the surfece. and i was very deep to. already cant wait for the full game, but i am prob going to play the demo alot more before it comes out. this may be a rougelike of the year for me lol
I'd probably have focused most of the dice in the early game on improving cards in your deck, since that seems to be permanent (even if there are only so many cards that you're likely to benefit from rerolling).
That choice of healing chicken legs got you. You could have 2 at the start of every fight or heal 2 every time you took damage 3 times. So, to gain health on the deal, you'd have to make sure you got hit for 1 point 3 times and nothing more to come out ahead 3 points to 2. That's why anything other than thorn effects or card draw when you take damage tends to be fool's gold unless you have a specific vampire-like build where taking damage is normal. Great video. Sorry that Aces did so poorly on your channel. It wasn't because of me as I loved it, but I think the Steam reviews will fill you in on why it failed for the most part. Thought about buying it as it is on sale and decided against it based off those and wait until it gets bundled on Humble or Fanatical. The game seems to not have legs is the short version. 10 hours or so to max your character and that renders everything too easy.
Your analysis about the chicken legs is off. The wings are only better in a fight where you don't take any damage. Consider a fight in which you take any 4 damage three times: the wings will have healed you for 2, while the drumsticks will have healed you for 6. If you start the fight with 40 HP, the wings will let you end with (40 + 2 - 12) = 30 hp, while the drumstick lets you end the fight with (40 - 12 + 6) = 34 hp. The exact starting HP and damage amounts don't matter, just the fact that you took damage more than once. If your deck is so good at block/evasion that you regularly finish fights without taking any damage, the wings win out, but otherwise the drumstick will always be as good or better. (Barring weird edge cases, like "an enemy's first attack hitting you for exact lethal unless you have the 2 healing from the chicken wings.)
Seems like not distorting the drawn cards for permanent effects, and using the dice to cut your opponent's HP down quickly, is probably not a good approach for this game. Especially when you have enemies like the Scarecrow.
Isn't the mist system similar to whatchamacallit in that spaceship tactics roguelike, forgot the title? Crying Stars? Crying Suns? I remember our character is a clone of some mighty war hero. Anyway, the mist system is very similar. It's annoying at times, but it was fun having something chasing you most of the time. Kind of. Plus the battle system is very familiar (with something extra). I think I'll enjoy this game
I love how the game TEMPTS you into using the one dice... Yeah you COULD go without it... But you arent strong enough to endure the bs the game wants to throw at you without SOME way to cheat back.
Why arent you playing Ace and adventures anymore? Checking in here sometime just to see if you have done a great playthrough. But nope. And no other youtuber plays it. So I'm quite sad. I was subbed once but you stopped playing Dicey Dungeons, Ace and Adventures and that poker game. All the other stuff Im not interested in. And Ace and Adventures you was super hyped for but never played it again😢
The short answer is that I am always playing what I want to play, factoring in _all_ the information that I have. If you only like two games I've played, and you're not subscribed, I'm sorry, but you have to know I can't be making decisions around a _sometimes_ viewer, I need to make decisions around the group that is always there. Nobody watched Aces & Adventures, it performed horribly so I tried to stream it, and it did horribly, so I played it by myself.
@@RetromationThat sucked. I didn't know that and that explains why I haven't seen any playthroughs. But I miss the poker game. But guess I have to find another favorite here on the channel. Now that I know that Aces and Adventures never going to be played I need to find a new game to watch.
It is definitely a bummer, but yeah nobody is playing it because nobody is watching it. Not sure why that is the case, and it is genuinely very good. If I had to take a shot in the dark based on your preferences I'd say watch the old Spellrogue series. I'll likely be returning to it when it comes out next week, but the old series is long enough to last until then.
@Retromation Yeah. It was fun to watch the episodes you put out.! Such a bummer. And I think one explanation is that is was to pretty and beautifully game. People nowadays seems to like horror and dark stuff.. Thanks for the suggestion! Definitely going to give that serie a try and also the escape room serie you did. It also seemed like it could be fun to watch. And we can hope that dicey dungeons do dlc because that game was also fun to watch and seemed like it performed well on the channel. But are definitely going give that Spellrouge a chance!
"That power I just gave you destroyed your world and will destroy every other world you ever visit" sure is, uh. A thing to be told so casually.
yeah because it’s half gift half curse
We just wanted to go fishing 😭🤣

This might be the most beautifully animated deckbuilder I've ever seen! I love the atmosphere.

Thank you yet again for placing another promising game under my radar. Love the art and gameplay, I'll be checking this one out!
I've tried it with the red deck. And I've got a very different experience. I love this game 🥰

The sheer amount of creativity in this game is insane. And the art is fantastic.

The art style reminds me of storybooks I'd read as a kid, or over the garden wall
I was thinking the same thing, it's like Three Samurai Cats meets OTGW
Heh, the art and the little animations are very charming. So silly that the shield isn't even being held the right way.
I think it's meant to imply that you're attaching the shields to your body.

This game seems very elegantly designed and balanced, it's pretty impressive. Also really great art and atmosphere!
What an beautiful art style!
I am so impressed with this game's strange design space and art style
i love the animation, they are so fun
this game is super cool, and the card variety is pretty nuts for a demo too
This gives Magic the Gathering vibes and I'm here for it
The strange girl a Yukkuri? Amazing.
41:03 the goose on the right has a "reactive" ability. That means it will happen when you play a card.
yep, find that out 10 seconds later
sry was going to delete the comment but you're too engaging and I forgot LOL@@Retromation
Wow this game is super fun. I feel like hidden deep within is the ultimate game break on every turn, which is a little frustrating but also exciting.
Dang, now this is an interesting and unique concept. Could be an interesting game to keep an eye on.
At the start of the round you should use the power at the top left and then use the card to change the number on the power from 0 to 1-6
Full game is out. Would like a revisit.
Are you going to be looking at the new balatro demo? Or perhaps waiting to play the full game?
this game is beautiful.
I'd probably have focused most of the dice in the early game on improving cards in your deck, since that seems to be permanent (even if there are only so many cards that you're likely to benefit from rerolling).
if you play a card that has been modified you move the fog up, you can only play a modified card a few times (as the game currently is balanced)
@@Retromation Ah, ok, I missed that.
Interesting game , neat art style and a bit unhinged.

Sure but you also move the fog forward whenever you play a distorted card. So.

When you first get the dice what happens if you purposefully lose the fight without using any of the them?
Unhinged is right! I love this

Keeping eyes on this one
wow there is so much going on here. in a fun and even understandable way though...
Can you change the amount of damage the scare crow can take with the dice?
This game is indeed fantastic.

Wow, insta wishlist
slay the spire meets magic the gathering meets the matrix?
The meta progress takes 2 runs to fully unlock
The stuff in the demo, yep I believe that.
