I think that the biggest advantage of the Chu Ko Nu is pressure. Sure while the weapon's OHK range is low, the weight of fire it can deliver is hard to best with a load of weapons. It is also very risky to peek the Chu Ko Nu repeatedly. It is also deceptively lethal with the explosive bolts, because if you aim around the target at first and then land the second/third shot on them, they most likely won't even clock in on the fact that they are primed to blow up immediately. Personally I think that it's velocity could use a slight buff, as generally speaking those crossbows had a range of like... 60-70-ish meters.
Games tend to always downplay the range of bow type weapons for balancing purposes. IRL an arrow can travel like 100m with hardly any drop to compensate for, but in hunt it's 35m and even some rifles only just hit that 100m range. People would be pretty pissed if bow players could easily take your head off at the same effective range as a sparks .
The idea that this weapon is a “meme” with explosive bolts is the most ironic shit ever. It dominates in almost any circumstance where an enemy is near an area they can be affected by splash damage (a floor, wall, piece of cover, basically anywhere lol…) it takes 2 bolts that can be fired in under 3 seconds to completely delete an enemy. It’s a medium slot weapon that packs the power of an entire explosive bolt crossbow trio of hunters.

One team is a trio of explosive crossbows. The other team is a trio explosive ChoKoNus (each player has two of them with explosive bolts since it’s a medium slot weapon). The ChoKoNu team wins 9 times out of 10. Easy.
I think the issue is the awkward damage, damage zones and the delay on action and hit register. Main one being the weird hit register on action cycle. You see it clearly when you shoot close range at people rushing you, the hit doesn't count until the pump part of the animation. It's like Alamo back on its debut all over again (Enemies have an artificial trade window to kill you during the cycle animation)
I've yet to try the Chook chook choo for myself but from what I saw from my enemies using it against me, it might need a slight adjustment to be really viable other than just for funsies

You cant pull those bolts out and you cant defuse them either. In theory they would fall to the ground after you stopped the bleeding (kinda like a sticky bomb), but they explode way to fast for you to pull it off. But in theory it should atleast be able to defuse them, if they land directly next to you and youre fast enough, but i dont think you can really do that ingame

I think it is OP because it is 2 slots... Meaning that you can use it as a secondary, either by means of Quartermaster or by chosing a 2-slot weapon that is strong enough to serve as your primary (I can think mainly of the Mosin-Nagant Obrez Extended, the Centennial Shorty and the Uppermat for the position), and still, you know, have either a fucking AUTOMATIC frag grenade launcher or something that outclasses most instances of Fanning (because you can 1-shot and it will never fail to kill with 2 hits). I'm not that good at the game, but a friend of mine is 6 stars and some of his best rounds in 5-6 star lobbies were using this thing (usually alongside the Obrez). But no, it is not that great of a primary. Again, this absolutely doesn't matter.
@shineki1743 maybe, but i think he turns down some settings because of the visibility. So it is interresting to know. The gain of FPS then is a nice bonus on top. I Play on 2k with nearly everything ultra and got 150 FPS. But Its a pain to See bush wookies.

You're so damn insane, so much awareness of everything, but for some reason you hold your stamina and antidote instead of using them to loot for new throwables? The last game was the worst example because BC only lasts 15 minutes so you would've had Stam and Antidote for longer than the remaining match time and so many bodies and chances to get good throwables that could've been useful. Could've cleared the wire or gotten an easy frag bomb kill when they rushed you on the roof. I feel like you're doing it just to get more Hunt Dollars but that's crazy greed just for number go up lmao! But i also feel that cause there's nothing else to earn once you're P100. Should be more progression in the game.

My guess is that mechanically it's the exact same as bomblance, which as a side effect means it's unnafected by bulwark on direct hit
