      Yes, if you do a Java Full Stack course and learn programming well, then you can work in IT. Another trick you can use is to find jobs in companies that are related to the Civil field, but they are software companies. E.g., TCS carried out the Metro Study project for one of the City. There were software engineers, but there were also a lot of Civil, Mechanical, and other engineers on the project. So your idea is excellent now. You should plan and focus on executing your approach to the T.

    • @MusingsbyAmit
      @MusingsbyAmit  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@muralidhara5074 Yes Python is very useful in today's date. It is the most popular programming language also easy to learn than other languages. In your case, because you are studying Mechanical Engineering you can very well think about IoT - Internet Of Things. There are companies in India like Kalyani Brakes that are developing IoT modules to control their Lathe Machines. With your knowledge of Mechanical Engineering + if you learn to program in Python + If you learn how you can use Python for IoT then you will make yourself very valuable to the traditional manufacturing industries where your combined skills will be revered. Also, most of the automobile companies are looking for software engineers to build programs related to automobiles. Again your knowledge of Mechanical Engineering and Python programming will really help. But work hard to become good in both the fields. That combination is powerful. If you just learn Python and start competing with Computer Engineers then it may not work that well. You have to use your programming in industries you have a natural inclination. I hope this helps you. If this helps you then share this video with your friends on Whatsapp.

      @@saurabhbisht2238 No. But some companies value certificates. The certificate is only a door opener. When the HR or Recruiters see them, then they feel that maybe this is the right candidate because he has spent additional time to complete a certificate course. Doing projects is also good. If you did projects that are live and working, then they are best. If you have done projects just for learning, then again, the value depends on how complex is your project. Does it cover server side coding, client-side coding, database access, etc. In such cases certificate can help. In our times MS certification was very valuable. Engineers with MS Certification were given more salary.

    I don't think your point of view is valid because i have learned so much from udemy, they may not professors but they are knowledgeable about what they are teaching, and also you cannot get a certificate only by purchasing the course you need to follow the course first this rule is valid for most of the courses, and also they update their courses every day.
    This is a platform for broke students. And the teachers are really good lecturers. You cannot learn about riding a bicycle by seeing it riding, you need to try it out by yourself and then you can learn. My main reason for buying udemy courses are that they have a good material and they help me understand concepts better. I buy courses when they're on sale for like RS 200-400 which if you think about it costs as much as a book. In fact books could cost more depending on author and subject. There are other sites and I'm sure even those teachers may have excellent knowledge, but I'm quite satisfied with Udemy so couldn't move on to other websites. In terms of data science you can audit the great course material in coursera(Andrew Ng machine learning course for beginner) and in edx(There is an Microsoft Data Science course).
      Actually you have academic report in every course like marks secured in every category or test even though you audit course just keep the course in your dashboard(never unenroll) and show to the person whenever you need it.The thing is the companies mostly demand a real world project(in my experience) and

    • @MusingsbyAmit
      @MusingsbyAmit  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Saathvika, Fat hike depends on two things potential & performance. You have to first enhance your potential and then performance. If you have been out of work then don't worry too much about money. Start where you are and then improve everyday so that you start getting good hikes. You want a steady hike. Not a big fat hike. Because think about this. If you get a fat hike and the company has to layoff people then who will they try to layoff first. People with fat hikes. So you should have a good salary but a steadily increasing salary. First sit and think what companies you want to work for. If you pick product companies. Then your salary potential will be good. Then you think of your skills. Can you add a few more things to your skills? Look at skills that add to your present skills. Talk to someone in QA and find out what kinds of skills you can enhance. Once you do that things will turn out good for you. Best wishes.

      Hello Dhaval, On Coursera you will learn the Foundation of any Programming Language. So the course syllabus looks little old but it is not old. If someone is starting programming in C today. He can still start with Kerning and Ritche Book Programming in C. Which was written some 20 to 30 years back. It is the same with Coursera or eDX. Please see on Udemy you are only learning shortcuts. You are not learning in depth. Chances are that with a Udemy Course you may be able to build a simple application. But because the courses are not in depth you may not become a good programmer.

    How many weeks are needed in course of python

    • @MusingsbyAmit
      @MusingsbyAmit  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sheetal, If you are doing any course from Coursera or Edx then there are two types of course. One is a single course which takes two to six weeks. This depends on how many hours you study and then practice. Also how well you understand. If you do any specialisation then it takes anywhere between four to six months. In one specialisation there will be five to six different courses on the same subject. E.g. this is a Python Specialisation bit.ly/38JP4yt this takes more than 4 to 6 months. You can see that there are 5 courses in this, 1. Python for Everybody. 2. Python Data Structures. 3. Web Development with Python. 4. Using Databases with Python and 5. Capstone Project. So if you just do one single course like Python for Everybody it will take less time than the complete specialisation with all the five courses. That is the difference. Here is my suggestion. Take a book or take a basic python course. Do that in such a way that you can get a job. After that you can go for specialisation. If I have to do this then I will focus on doing anything that will get me a job first and then along with my job I will do all kinds of specialisation. Once I am confident that I know enough - I will either tell my present company where I am doing a job - or look for some better job with all the added expertise. I hope this helps you.

Now I don't know how willing you are to face the failures of trying to get into the software industry after such a long break. One thing you can do is learn the lastest technologies like Data Science from a reputed place like the one mentioned on this page amitpatels.com/resources You will have to work hard to not only do the course well but also score well in all the assignments and assessment that will give you a certificate. If you can do that then you can have a fresh start. You cannot depend on your education that was completed 10 years ago. You will have to learn few things in todays date. You can also learn Full Stack Web Development or .NET as these fields are easy to get into. But if you can really learn even one of the latest technologies I have mentioned in this video th-cam.com/video/QRGzabNlkew/w-d-xo.html then you can certainly make a mark in the software industry. Also there are other areas you can explore like Testing, Support, Project Management which may not need programming skills. Hi Ruthvik, Yes it is very true. We cannot call it worthless because you may find a very good teacher and if you are not worried about a certificate then it can really help. But yes the assessment in coursera and edx is amazing. You can find those courses on amitpatels.com under the resources tab.

    I dont have a science background but want to do something in RPA, which one i can go for, pls suggest

    • @MusingsbyAmit
      @MusingsbyAmit  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are two sides to RPA. One is if you are developing a tool for RPA means that you need the knowledge of software development. Second is if you are using the tool to make workflows in which you may not need coding. So there are many fields where you can use RPA and there are existing tools available. You just create a work flow using simple setting that will help you create a process flow. In that case you need to only learn the tools. So find out what tools are out there. Find out what jobs are available on those tools. Then you see what the job description says. Based on that chose a course that will help you learn those tools. Sometimes such training can be very costly because the tools are used only in certain areas. So do some research and you will find out more. I will work on some videos on RPA in future to help you further.

      Yes, if you have enough passion and you are ready to do what you mentioned here then yes. Why not? Only thing you cannot depend only on the fact that you have completed all these courses. If you know something because of that and you really make some good projects then you certainly have a chance. My advice is to pick one core skills. Like Web Development using the above. Later try to get a job as an intern or fresher whatever is possible. Then further enhance your skills on the job.

    • @MusingsbyAmit
      @MusingsbyAmit  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      If you go to a book shop, you find the best book on python programming. You learn Python from that. Will that book get you a job? No. But if you can show what learned from the novel by doing some project with the help of the knowledge, then that can get you a Job. It is the same with Udemy. Just because you complete a course on Udemy does not mean you can get a Job. But if you can show what you can do because you completed the course, then you will get a job or even an interview.

      When I completed my engineering in 1995, computer companies were hiring engineers from all streams. They would ask us to do a course from NCST or CDAC or NIIT or Apple Computers or Data Pro and then hire engineers from any stream. If you are in mechanical engineering, then I will suggest you learn programming with IoT. Because this field is in demand. Check these resources page www.amitpatels.com/resources on that you will find a banner for 3000+ courses. Use that banner and check for IoT in search. Find a beginner level course and start. I will also find a few courses or programming languages you can learn. The most popular language today is Python and you can also start with Python course on resources page then move to IoT. That will also work. But IoT will give you an advantage as mechanical engineer.

      Welcome to the world of Marketing Gimicks. Everyone will provide you with a free course. But no one will give you a certificate. You have to pay for the certificate. Also on Udemy you will find that the certificate is only of completion. So the value may not be much. Check the other sources of certification where you have to work hard to get a certificate here amitpatels.com/resources when you are able to complete the assessments and projects only then you will get certificate but they will be very valuable.

    I learned solidworks, illustrator, Plc ladder programming, matlab... And keep learning with udemy. You can pay a diploma or course in a university but you will not learn as much in the same number of hours... Well of course it depends on your dedication, in udemy you don't have anyone pushing you then you can become lazy but also you can become a self student and learn a lot.

    • @MusingsbyAmit
      @MusingsbyAmit  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is really great. But very few people have that kind of dedication. If you are passionate about something then you are going to put in efforts to learn whatever you want to learn in that area. When I started programming in 1997, I was passionate about building software applications. We did not have all these online platforms. So I decided to learn everything from books. I was able to learn everything from books only because I read a few programming books many times till I could master what I was trying to do. In your case, this is an exception. Great work. I hope other engineers are inspired by your comment and work as hard as you have done.

    I will have to check out Jose’s course. Anyway, great video. I took a lot of courses on Udemy in regards to React web development and asp api development.
    I noticed that after a while, you realize that most courses start to repeat stuff.
    It seams it is a great platform for fundamentals and basics, but when it come to more advanced features. It has been tough to find what I am looking for.
    So I am finding that looking up docs and just building stuff becomes more important than the courses on Udemy.
    What has been your experience?
    Also if you know any good places that cover more advanced topics, please let us know.
    I have also now started to take more CS classes on Coursera.

    • @MusingsbyAmit
      @MusingsbyAmit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes true, If you understand Udemy it is an independent platform where anyone can take a course. So you will find that different courses have the same teachings. But if you go to places like Coursera or Edx then you will find that there the courses are university level. These are designed specifically for the industry. These courses may look very vast but they are required to teach the complete topic in depth. That I feel is the difference. Doing practice is a very good thing. Try to build a really meaningful full application right from design to development to implementation. That will help you a lot.
