Lol. This video began with an epic confusion and it's hilarious. Also, Kristen seemed so sure to not even consider that its a new guy. 😆 The "as white as swan" saree scene is the meet cute between Gangu and the new young apprentice for the old tailor (and that is different from Ramnik, the guy who sold her many years ago). Loved this scene in the movie!
the call which gets disconnects at the need is not because her mom put the phone, its because during those times in India this concept of Trunk calls was there , where you could talk for only a few minutes on the phone. the telephone operator cuts the call after that time

14:30 fun fact : that is actually reference to hindu goddess like maa kali as shakti (power), maa laxmi as sampati (money) and maa saraswati as sadbudhi (good sense)
the line which she said jab shakti sampati aur sadbuddhi teeno hee aurate hai toh mardo ko kis baat ka guroor at 14:32 she was referring to our goddess in hinduism shakti represents lord shiva's wife parvati without her he is shaktiheen(powerless as shakti means power), sampati refers to lord vishnu's wife lakshmi (sampati means wealth), and sadbuddhi refers to lord brahma's wife saraswati (sadbuddhi refers to knowledge), actually in hinduism sanatan dharma women are considered above men ... its a patriarchal society but in every aspect women is placed before men ..even a yagya is incomplete without ur wife
When she's talking about money, power and good sense, she's actually talking about the female hindu godesses who are embodiments of these traits. Also back in those days in India, the telephone operator would connect the calls and after a certain time, they'd cut the call. And another thing, Kristen is partially correct about the disappointment of her parents but it's more about the dishonour. In India, a child sinply running away to never come back, specifically if it's a girl, is a matter of grave dishonour and shame :) great reaction tho ❤ being mad at the wrong guy was hilarious xD
i think she was actually cringing over the fact that raziabai ate the food from gangubai's hand without her permission and maybe not over the thing that we eat with our hands her reaction was neutral when gangu was eating with her hand in the same scene before raziabai entered. she reacted only after this enemy of hers ate from her hand directly
1:44 "buy him" 🤣 ☠️. Yall confusing him for the other guy made it even funnier 😂 17:12 unfortunately not many parents put their child's happiness before society's expectations
Aww bless you ladies -- but to be fair, both actors do look quite similar... OMG the way y'all reacted during the telephone scene broke my heart... ❤🩹
In India sex work is such a taboo that the family would rather you die than sleep with a stranger (without marriage i mean). Even if it wasn’t your fault for ending up in sex work, the family will expect that you kill yourself or cut off all contact with them.
Two points. (1) You shouldn't generalise. Not every family is like that. Read about NGOs like Kailash Satyarthi who rescue young girls from prostitution and reunite them with their families which are happy to have their daughters back with them. (2) Not only in India, but sex work is taboo in every society. How many families you have known in America or in Europe who encourage their little children to grow up and become prostitutes? (It's true that prostitution is legal in many countries but it doesn't make it any less taboo.)
@@BubuDuduForever 1. The movie is not set in modern times. Back then the society was much much more conservative. Nowadays we have more educated people and NGOs. It’s a good change, but certainly wasn’t the case back then. 2. That’s true, nobody wants their daughters to be in such vulnerable positions, but I don’t think people in western countries would wish death upon their daughters. Honour killings are still a thing in India, while they are unheard of or extremely rare in western countries
@@littlesushie Well, just to answer me you have now brought in the historical aspect of the film, otherwise your original comment was in the present tense which clearly showed that you were talking about current time as well. And as I clearly mentioned that not all families are like that. You could have moderated your sentence by saying 'some families' or 'many families'. And even within the film it is shown that gangubai set a girl free from the brothel and ensured her safe return to her family. If what you say was true of all the families even in that old time then gangubai would never have sent the girl back to her family. So my only point was, let's not generalise. (2) Yes, (dis)honour killings happen in India and sadly it will continue to happen as long as girl's sexuality is linked with family's and community's honour. We are a deeply patriarchal society, in fact, we revel in it and consider women as property of men. Is it any surprise that a deeply misogynistic film like kabir singh is such a humongous hit? In west the situation has become better because, unlike here, there women are not considered as property of their fathers brothers boyfriends husbands. But if not honor killings then domestic violence and sexual violence and sexual exploitation happen in west also. And if such things are legal crimes in west, then honour killing has always been a legal crime in India too. (Or is there any state in India where state has legalised these honour killings?)
