Thank you for using the links to support the channel!
Kent is a super cool town! So glad to hear that you’re going to continue your channel when your hike is complete! Cause when you follow someone on a daily basis it feels like a family member , especially with all the emotions that come with the AT .. I feel like an adopted Mom that prays and looks out for you and Leo from my TH-cam home chair 😎….nice shout out to ZPak , you certainly chose a stellar company! Thanks again for another great video…..Hike on ….
Thanks so much
I really almost squealed to learn the channel will go on. I was just thinking yesterday that I really love my routine of watching these every morning with my coffee. For the past 40-some years, I have been a night owl and my morning routine consisted of scowling, lurching towards the shower, drinking coffee and heading immediately to work. No more! I get up early, I make my coffee, I watch my daily dose of peacefulness and then I eat breakfast and do a few other things before the workday starts. Such a nicer way to greet each day. Learning and growing, even at 52, just by watching a man with a handle-bar mustache hike on with his devoted dog.
Great job leading what’s his name down the trail Leo!😊
The camera guy I how I prefer to be addressed
I am so glad to hear that you are going to continue this TH-cam channel after you summit. That was a major disappointment to me last year and the year before after two hikers summitted and we never heard from them again. It’s almost like losing a good friend. Thank you, Michael, for this information so early, and now we will all have something to continue to look forward to rather than a rocky ending. Love your videos! That’s what I do every morning as I have my 1st cup of coffee. Best wishes!
Thanks
What a full day! Hiking, eating, shopping, eating, hiking...😎 cute little town!
Yes it was!
There are Connecticut bears 😂 have had them in my yard. Glad you enjoyed Kent
Well they were in your yard not in the woods
Nice town tour and views today. Excited to hear your plans for the channel after completion of the AT. I was just thinking today that I hoped you would continue to put out videos as you definitely have the talent for it. I so enjoy watching your daily videos. Although my physical condition prohibits me from being in the woods at this time, I do enjoy seeing all the beauty you share. Thanks so much.
Thanks
I guess my nickname would be Sitting Grandma. I’ve been following since day 33 when my friend’s son was in your background. I’m not a backpacker, but I was always fascinated by the AT. I’ve driven under it on route 90 in Mass. near Lee several times. Which you’ve probably walked across by now. 👍
Well thank you for continuing to follow us!
Your videos are really well made, and I'm enjoying the music you use when showing the scenery and the trail.
Thanks
Michael, it was a pleasure running into you and Leo on trail. You are just as personable and easy to speak to in person as you come across on video. Leo surprised me with his size though. He's a bigger pup than what comes across on videos. Looking forward to what the future holds for the channel and good luck to you the rest of your adventure!

It was great meeting you! I wish I was bigger in real life than on video 😂😂💪
Nice to see that you're in my home state of Connecticut. One of my first areas I section hike 25 years ago. There is some great view are coming. I have been following you since you did Kyle hates hiking pod cast and I wish you the best of luck.
Thanks
I have been following him since then, too. I don't know how I ended up following "Kyle Hates Hiking," but I like how my world has expanded, if only from my couch.
Great video today. I have always found Connecticut to be a lush and surprisingly beautiful state!
It really is!
Sno-Caps are awesome.
Truth
What a great town! The welcome center is very nice & that creamy looked outstanding. Little browsing, little buying & icecream!!!
It was cool
Another nice town, thanks for sharing your plans for the future, and I know that has to be cool to meet people who follow you.
It really is!
I told you--you aren't seeing bears because they are all hiding in the dust bunnies where my old dishwasher lived. You can have them, though, because I am now researching moving to Kent, CT. What a charming little town! Thanks for cutting your trail time down to 4 days max to get us entertained!
Nice you would love it there
Only recently found your channel and have now caught up on your AT adventure after binge watching previous videos! Give Leo a pat from a fellow hiker/wild camper living here in the Outer Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland! :)
Welcome aboard! Will do.
Another great video! Those trail towns are so cute. I'm glad you're planning to continue your channel because it's one of my favorites! 😊
Thanks
🚶🐕🦺👟👟⛺ a very nice little town there I've been enjoying exploring with you thanks again for another great video stay safe and happy hiking 💯💪🏆
Thanks
Kent was a cute little town from what I can tell. Hoping you run into a non aggressive CT bear! Your making excellent time.. it's been fun following you and Leo since the beginning. I've got an AT map and I'm keeping track of your progress. Stay safe and tick free (bith you and Leo) remember ticks can hide in crazy places, like your belly button..lol (that's one place I never would've thought to look..lol ) 🙏 continued prayers for a safe journey
Thanks 👍
Thanks, belly button all clear
@@ISuckatHiking 🤣🤣🤣
Leo is the bomb!!! That's why people recognize him. He is the best!
He really is
Your videos are exciting to watch. Your encouraging words and positive attitude are awesome! I'm looking forward to your future videos and love, love Leo!
Thank you so much!
Interesting camera work today. I appreciate your extra efforts.
Glad you enjoyed it
Glad Zpacks took care of you. Unfortunately, I've seen several thru-hikers have to troubleshoot broken carbon stays. Many blessings on all your future plans for the channel.
Thanks
Yay! Kent is a great town. 😁✌
It was such a cool spot
Question..I’ve noticed Leo’s food pack swags often as he walks the trail. What do you do to keep that area from chaffing or rubbing raw? He amazes me staying on trail like he does. Thanks for any info you can share.
It just doesn't chafe him
Kent is a nice town. But expensive
It was a little pricey
About Kent. It is a weekend destination for all the citidiots (city idiots) as us “upstaters” call them. It’s a cool town during the week. The prep school is one of several in the area. That is the Kent school. That outfitter, although he has a ton of fishing gear, is a good place.
I have been cutting my teeth for a 2026 attempt on those trails. The detour going up “the nose” across from the school is brutal. Maybe it was because I did it when I was fighting COVID, but the views after were nice. I also came south from route 44 to the limestone spring shelter. That climb down from the trail to the shelter was pretty sketchy.
I figure you’re at least to Rutland and Killington by now. Keep it going!
Thanks
I am so excited about the future!
Thanks
Yeah Kent is a nice little town. Glad to see Zpacks has stepped up their customer service over the last couple of years. Wasn’t always the case!
They are on it now
His vlog audience may help him get better service. I wonder
Glad Zpacks came through. It does suck that it happened but at least they stand behind the equipment. I have heard some horror stories about other brands not providing support. I will have to keep that in mind when I upgrade my tent
The offset duo I use is amazing. Don't forget to use my affiliate link 😉
@@ISuckatHiking I think I was looking at the trio at one point since both my son and I have 25" pads and even though the pup is small we prefer a little extra room.
Leo is certainly the star!
Yup
Happy to hear that you will continue your channel. I do look to you for gear ideas. Switched over to Topos recently after listening to you. Now looking into a Zpack backpack. What size is yours? Since retiring 2 years ago, I have become a daily day hiker/walker. I now really want to start backpacking which I have never done. Back in my 20s, I did do a lot of bike packing (touring).
I have the ultra 50 in a medium hip belt. Don't forget to use my affiliate link 😉
Michael. Curious what camera gear you are using. I am guessing a DJI Pocket 3. I am doing a through hike next year and want to vlog mainly for myself and family and supporters.
I did a video on all my equipment check it out!
Super Yuppie Town remember entering town back in 2012 we were pushing 30s at that point and the looks we got when we entered made me think there was gonna be a problem but got shoes at the same place and resupplied at that I G A

Why don't you have a "Hiker name"¿ or do you? Just a curious viewer...
I do Master Splinter
How did you get Master Splinter as a trail name?? Loved the banjo player!! love that you’re going to keep the site going.❤❤❤❤❤
Clawhammer style banjo playing in Connecticut, who would have thought 😊. Nice town! Thanks for video on how to. I’ll look for it.
@ISuckatHiking I have heard that name in your videos. My wife and I watch daily...great content!
Good luck on seeing a bear.
I can only hope
Love your content! What glasses are you wearing? I’m looking to start backpacking without contacts and I like the style of your eyewear.
