- The test is carried out on either undisturbed samples or remoulded samples. To facilitate the remoulding purpose, a soil sample may be compacted at optimum moisture content in a compaction mould. Then specimen for the direct shear test could be obtained using the correct cutter provided. Alternatively, sand sample can be placed in a dry state at a required density, in the assembled shear box.

to determine direct hear test we have to conduct 3 different soil specimen having same water content and same density but applying different loads like 0.5, 1 and 1.5 kg/cm^2 . correct statement hai ki nahi.

Sir which type of test is this undrained consolidated undrained or consolidated drained i thik you have done undrained test but in IS code mentioned porus stone will not be used and water jacket should be provided but you have not done it please explain.

Very good video sir, sir what i dont understand is that how is your proving rimg reading for 0.5 kg load test 4around 46 but you have taken shear stress value as 0.37?? Is there a multiplication by proving ring constant and what is the value of proving ring constant??

Small Doubt the Sample thickness was 3 cm then how can you put 6 in corrected area...?. In IS Code also it was 3 and in excel you are used 60 not 6... why....??? Kindly clear my doubt....
In latest revision , it is Ao(1- ẟ/6) I had divided by 60 because to convert ẟ from mm to cm.

Very informative tutorial. I am interested to know, how we estimate normal stress i.e. for 0.5kg/cm2 the mass used is around 1.50 kg, which area we are considering to estimate 0.5 kg/cm2 ?

I think undrained because you choose rate of strain as 1.25 mm / min but in IS code mentioned that in undrained condition porus stone are not used and water jacket should be provided but you nave not done that i have a doubt kindly clear it sir my water jacket is not provided
