Hi Geoff, could it have been a dry joint rather than a duff component? A good tip for checking joints is to take a photo and then expand the photo to maximum. Surprising what this shows up. Brian Essex Thameside in N
Very good point. I’ve had the problem before and tested a previous chip at work on a scope and could see it was open circuit. I just never did a video until I came across the same problem again.
Ive blown a few of these when I connected a motor and forgetting to switch power off first, but it’s too fiddly for me. Also a complete DR 4018 has blown as well so not sure what has happened to it
Thank you , at moment they are installed on my layout in use and I don’t have any spare units now but as stated I have a complete unit that doesn’t work at all ( it was in use for months then when I had some MP 1 point motors go wrong the DR4018 kept causing the extra power supply transformer to cut out ) Maybe if you wanted to have a look at it I could send it you and then I would have a spare one to swap for the others. I was going to throw it away but kept it just in case Any costs no problem
sorry ive only just seen this reply - could you Send me a Message on Messenger and I'll let you know my address where to post it . i'll be keen to have a look and find the issue Geoff Hammond

heating up the sticker should help loosen it with less risk of damage
Hi , Great Advice I'll do that on the others I'm just about to fix for other Subscribers
Hi Flinty. Nice video. Just to be picky: Digikeijs rhymes with "pies". What a shame they went bust. Didn't YaMoRC take them over?
hi , YaMoRC didn't take Digikeijs Over . However YaMoRC is run and owned by the person who designed all the Kit Digikeijs was selling
