    This is day 254 of my journey to get to a rating of 2000 on chess.com.
    This was probably my most informative kind of video yet, if you like these sorts of videos I could try to make a playlist of helpful tips/checkmating patterns etc, I could make it a series, but I hope you enjoy this type of analysis at the end! Sorry we only got a draw! Thanks for watching this sicilian game!
    So far on the series:
    201 wins 27 draws 166 losses

    I was actually screaming windmill tactic and it really hurt watching you not seeing it. I think in these critical positions you just gotta consider more moves, prioritizing checks, captures and threats. You considered moving your bishop to g2 so why don't you also look at rook g2. I know it's harder if you're actually playing the game than just watching, but I think if you went through checks, captures and threats you would have defenitely found it and won the game.
    And I really liked your explanation of the bishop+knight mate, I've also been trying to study it but I think the hardest part is if the enemy king starts in the center to force him to the desired corner within 50 moves, especially if you don't have much time.

    • @philhellmuck
      @philhellmuck 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      agree, no idea how he doesn’t see rook to g2, so blinkered in his thinking and I know it’s easier watching than playing but too annoying to watch 😂

    • @Blunder_Man
      @Blunder_Man  26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yeah, you see stuff because you also see an analysis board telling you there is a tactic. If I had that I'd immediately be spotting it, but it's hard to always have that habit for every single move

    Hi there. Took a break from chess over the Summer, but started the new club season yesterday, now playing board 1, and up a division too.
    3:50 The exchange sac is never going to work in that position. You get 1 pawn back, but no positional compensation or attack for the material deficit. The obvious move is Nc4, which wins the two Bishops. I love Knights, but in this position the Bishop pair is a big plus, plus if he takes the N, the Rc4 is in an excellent spot.
    4:25 Phantom problems. If he moves the Nc3 he is hitting nothing because the Qd8 defends it. You perhaps need to be a little more aware of which pieces are hanging. Still, it got you to play Nc4!
    6:05 When you see R & B in that position you should immediately be thinking of this tactic: Rg2+ Kh1 (forced) Rxb2+ (discovered) winning the Queen.

    I have only ever done this once in game and it was definitely one of the best mates. The key to doing it in game is to focus on cutting the king off until hes in the 4 corner squares, and then calculating how to actually get the mate. Learning the bishop and knight W formation helps.

    I should mention that I loved playing 25 games a day with stockfish 3, every day. But lichess did an update and I suspect they turned Stockfish 3 into a 2k player. Chess was fun but now chess is just hard.

Every game I would play a full game unless I was dead lost, 3+2 to compensate for stockfish bulleting out moves. It still blunders before move 15 but it often doesn't blunder until move 30. Before I could count on it giving me a blunder between move 10 and 20 and now it won't blunder until I blunder.
