    Finally, someone with some riding experience, makes a video on the Maverick. I've been looking at these for about 3 years now. I just picked up a Crestone, but I still want one of these as well. Good to see them getting some exposure. One thing I noticed with their geometry is, I'm 6'3, and that always lands me in the XL category, but with Wyatt, I'm honestly looking at their size L. I like a more upright position. They size their bikes big it seems, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Thanks for the video!

      There’s not a lot out there on them so hopefully this changes that!
      On the sizing…I think it’s mostly the people who are typically on the edges of sizes that will find their sizing different, but the recommended heights seem to be pretty spot on.

      @@RideYearRound The irony being, with their sizing, it puts me on the edge of a size. Lol I've never had to worry about it before. Makes me realize the struggle of being in between sizes.

      @johndunbar2393 haha welcome to the club! I’d recommend taking a look at the stack, reach, and effective top tube numbers of a current/past bike you’ve had that’s a good fit and using that to make the decision. You could also reach out to Wyatt, they’re great to talk with!

    Made in USA!! Don't see that anymore. Updated my gal's neon green frame, with SLX, dropper post, and a rear carbon rim. Prefer to run 3.8 rear and 4.3 tire front(studded, for packed trails). Excellent rig to commute six miles to work. And she prefers the alloy over her past carbon frame.

    Nice video. It's a great bike. I didn't have the greatest experience with the hayes brakes, but I swapped them out for some Shimano Deores. I enjoy how the Wren suspension rides as well. It has lost the lock out ability over time though. Eventually, if you ride it enough, you need to upgrade the rear hub. A nice feature are the fix it stix that are included.

    I know you like the Wren fork, and I have one as well and like it. Have you ever done a video on setting up the Wren? If not, I think it would be a good resource to add to your collection of all-things fat bike!

    Very cool bike! I hadn’t heard of this bike before. The low stack always held me back from the Mayor, my Sergeant V5 has about 15mm less stack than the Maverick but 43mm more than the Mayor. I’m loving my higher stack Sergeant V5 which is now in winter mode with 27.5X3.8 Dillinger 4 rear and 27.5X4.5 Dillinger 5 front on custom built 70mm wide rims. Won’t be as good in fresh deep snow (which I’ll probably avoid on this) but that was rough even on 26X4.8!

    • @RideYearRound
      @RideYearRound  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never tested the Sergeant in “adventure” mode but loved the way it rode otherwise…sounds like a fun set up!

    Man I'm kinda jealous ,having these nice trails next to you must be amazing!
    I have a question, what is the average speed on the flats?
    These fat tires look intimidating for someone who rides on the road all the time.

    • @MTB_CRZY
      @MTB_CRZY ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rolling resistance is there for sure. My fat bike is sub 25lbs which is pretty light weight (lighter than my XC race bike even) and it still rolls slower than my XC bike because the tires are so big.
      That being said, fat bikes were never meant to go fast on flat ground. Theyre meant to ride anywhere, any time whenever you want.

    • @RideYearRound
      @RideYearRound  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed with the comment above. Rolling resistance definitely exists and fat bikes aren’t generally known for being “fast”. If you’re looking to have a ton of fun rolling over stuff and going fast on the downhills though, it’s hard to beat fat tires!

    • @MTB_CRZY
      @MTB_CRZY ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RideYearRound yep, cornering and downhill trails are SUPER fun on fatbikes. Its near unlimited grip if you have the right skills!

    • @andyxmunoz
      @andyxmunoz ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh dude! I have to ask you - the fat bikes.... obviously they aren't a daily commuter or meant to be ridden on normal sidewalk/roads all the time.... but the question I was struggling to find an answer to (over multiple videos/channels) is a super basic one. Can you ride a fat bike on normal roads as a commuter? Are there any cons? Will you end up replacing tires more frequently, etc.? I literally watched so many videos on fat bikes and no one had an answer. (Also, sorry if I sound super novice, it's because I am!)

      I'm a casual rider, it snows here in Utah - I like the idea of going on a trail, but not be super hardcore about it... but if I wanted to just ride this bike around my neighborhoods/downtown - will I end up paying for it in the long run through tires and wear that isn't meant for the bike. Hope that makes sense.

    • @RideYearRound
      @RideYearRound  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @andyutahfilms you totally can, but the reason people don’t very often is that they’re heavier and have a lot more rolling resistance so they require more effort to pedal. There’s a chance you’ll be replacing the tires more often as well. One thing that can help is to find some slickish fat tires if they still exist and put those on.

    • @andyxmunoz
      @andyxmunoz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      NOTED. I do have a dedicated road bike, so this is good to know - I was going to sell it, but from the sounds of this; it sounds like it's better to just keep both bikes! Thank you dude!!!@@RideYearRound

    How’s this compare to the Farley ?
    35 lbs is a LOT

    • @RideYearRound
      @RideYearRound  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty different than the farley…longer reach, taller stack, slacker, shorter stays, more travel. The Farley 7 which has a suspension fork (but only 80mm of travel) like the Wyatt also weighs in at 37.6 lbs for the medium so 35 doesn’t sound too bad.
