10 Worst Songs of My Adolescence Pt. 1

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 11 ก.ย. 2024
- A few years back, I made a handful of guest videos for a channel that has since been rebranded and unlisted its older content. I've got permission to re-upload the vids, so for now here's the most requested one. You guys just really want to see me relive horrible musical memories from my youth. Or maybe it's all about that haircut.
The songs (look them up at your own discretion):
Papa Roach - Last Resort
Sugar Ray - Fly
Will Smith - Wild Wild West
Puddle of Mudd - She Hates Me
Everlast - What It's Like
Disturbed - The Sickness
LFO - Summer Girls
Cherry Poppin' Daddies - Zoot Suit Riot
Baha Men - Who Let the Dogs Out
Lou Bega - Mambo No. 5

@@tomascanevaro4292 greta sucks tough...
Just messing, they're a carbon copy of Led zeppelin but they play well and have some good songs, problem is none of their songs are better than Led Zeppelin... that's why i don't really enjoy them that much
I still jam to a lot of these songs lmao. For me it's the same reason I enjoy B-Rated movies or cheesy horror, do I know its bad? Yeah, but that's not the point.
@Seth Belfort No. First, i don't hate them, as i think i made clear.
Second, it's not because they're modern, it's because they sound like Led Zeppelin, LZ might have copied songs, but they have their own style, Plant has his own singing style, Page's guitar playing is also iconic as hell, and so on.
Greta literally imitate the voice, the instruments, everything, they don't have their own sound, they sound like LZ, and that's why i really don't listen to them, LZ is better, so I'd rather listen to them

that child abuse interlude off of "down with the sickness" just comes across as really corny and tacked-on to me. it doesn't even feel real or visceral. it feels contrived and tacky more than anything and utterly ruins the track - thank goodness for the single version
Totally agree with u. Im just like ugh this part, such edge lord cheese
It sounds like something from a D-tier Eminem song.
Imagine all these horrible bands writing songs about Anthony's new haircut.
I honestly always hated it when my mom (of all people) would play the cd version of down with the sickness. I remember feeling so uncomfortable whenever that solo started

Wannabe Emo Teen there’s a difference between enjoying a song, and thinking it’s a great track. These songs get massive radio play for a reason, they’re simplistic yet catchy.

One of my favorite Johnny Rotten exchanges - "You're bringing back swing music, are you?" Rotten asked Brian Setzer. "All we need now is a world war." While the rocker mumbled a response, Rotten produced a gift. "It's a calendar," he said, "to remind you what year it is."

That song was in Osmosis Jones
Aldrich Leblanc what about beastie boys saying it as well makes it not mean anything lmao
Kid Rock for Senate 2018
Trevor Smith The lyrical content on his verse on ICP's 'Is That You?' will be played over and over again if he runs, which will be great.
AgendaTwenty-Fun: A Happy, Kind New World Order Holy shit I just looked that song up on genius. Absolutely terrible. Kid Rock doesn't even attempt to rhyme. And I never knew he said "nigga" in his music freely. XD
Oi mate, there's something on your head
I just found your channel and was truly lol'ing at your fear reaction to "Who Let The Dogs out"! I completely relate and had to listen to that song during every pep rally my junior year because our team was the Bulldogs. Oh, and one time they played it over the loud speaker through the entire school during last class of the day. Crudely loud, distored from the crap speakers. Frightening, truly.
Wild Wild West was fire even though the movie sucked

Anthony you shouldn´t have said that you disliked the black prisoners singing gospel songs while in a chain gang, just because they were too loud when you were looking over them in the melon fields.
They were just trying to have some fun, but that´s understandable from a guy who gave DAMN. a 7/10.

I feel a lot of shame for a lot of nu-metal love, but listen, Blurry by Puddle of Mud will always make me want to cry. Spent a lot of time in the car with my mom as a kid during the early 2000's, even some time living in said car. That song and Linkin Park tied themselves into my soul.
The worst song of my adolscence is your haircut.
As someone who survived child abuse from an abusive mother. I have no issue with Down with the Sickness. It's about fighting back and defending yourself. I agree it's a bit hamfisted. If it wasn't on the radio in that form. I don't see the problem. Generally songs I listened to as a teenager were ones which made me feel like fighting, like I could have some power. If I listened to this as a teenager, I probably would have been into it.
I never actually realised how good the other lyrics actually are. They describe very well when you start seeing that you're not powerless anymore, that you can defend yourself, that it's not your fault.
And that’s the thing, you’re welcome to disagree with the music critic, he’s just giving his opinion. You have a very good reason to like the song. Your review is very thoughtful and personal.
@@skitty449 Of course :) It's all subjective after all. I don't even particularly like the song, I just don't think the lyrics are bad in any way.
Cringe
To be fair, I love how incredibly terrible "Summer Girls" is. It's atrocious in so many amazing ways!
One of those things that’s so terrible it’s entertaining. Like those B sci-fi movies from back in the day.
I've heard of hats being too small to fit but I've never seen a haircut that was too small to fit.
Always a pleasure
I literally missed the boat on this by like 2 years but I just watched Wild Wild West and it's now like my favorite movie and I love that song so much, it's such a bop.
"Fly" still puts a smile on my face. It might be a guilty pleasure, but I really have a hard time hating any of those 90s ska/reggae pop tunes, even "All Star," as over-played as that was...and is. Those songs just capture a snapshot of carefree youth for me, my enjoyment of them will always be impervious to any criticism, even the valid criticism in this video. I usually take music very seriously as a music fan and musician. Songs like "Fly" give me a chance to let go of that for a bit
Dylan Edwards nothing guilty about it man sugar ray was awesome for the time. i still find myself throwing a few of his big singles on with my friends when we're just having a nice time
Exactly! It's like the songs knew they were cheesy and just didn't care, so I don't care either and just enjoy them for what they are, giant nostalgia bombs that are still fun to this day. :)
I like fly without the feature
Lol, i predicted some of these hell yeah.
I predicted last resort
Lol I've seen you comment on Needle drop videos before Spike Speigel!!!!!
I've seen you at StorrorBlog :D
> Late 20's
boi you overestimate us. I'm only 21 mane, almost all of these songs were a part of my childhood, but I found them in a different way. I never listen to the radio, but being the massive nerd I am, I found them on youtube videos. Shitty 240p AMV's featuring Disturbed and Slipknot was my shit in 2007-10, and I distinctly remember a Runescape lyric video for Poweman 5000's Bombshell that ended 40 seconds early.
I mostly bypassed the 1990's mainstream but I'm Gen X, so my list for the 1980's would include (in no order):
Def Leppard - Pour Some Sugar In Me
Buju Banton - Boom Bye Bye
Milli Vanilli - Girl You Know It's True
Europe - The Final Countdown
Celine Dion - Une Colombe
Nathalie Simard - La Danse Des Canards, french version of The Tweets - The Birdie Song
The Pursuit Of Happiness - I'm An Adult Now
Frazier Chorus - Anarchy In The UK
Lionel Richie - Hello
Warrant - Cherry Pie
Martine St. Clair - Ce Soir L'Amour Est Dans Tes Yeux
I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton.
Review that little jog-run you do when a car is waiting for you to cross the street
From what I've heard, "Summer Girls" was unfinished when it was leaked onto a Boston radio station and somehow became a hit. It would have gone nowhere if they had finished it, but it was pretty much an accidental novelty tune.
Why the melon got a little patch of dead grass on it?
One time as a child, I drowned one of my siblings cabbage patch dolls in an aquarium I filled with squand (remember squand?). as a result, it's hair came out in patchy clumps and it bore a bizarre resemblance to mr. Fantano's current coiffure
"If you're like me you're....in your late twenties..."
Ohhhh Fantano, you are truly a funny guy. I'm enjoying my late twenties too.
WHO LET THE DOGS OUT!!!??? ROOOF ROOF ROOF! WHO LET THE DOGS OUT!!!??

HasanJF bro it literally sounds nothing like Rape Me, apart from the fact it rhymes!
Smith's "Hitch" was kinda promoted by "Switch", well, half officially, as it was omitted from the soundtrack, but they released both at the same time and there was a notion it's a song for the movie.
Guys, please just talk about the video and stop posting all these obnoxious memes. Melon put a lot of effort into this in-depth review of the new Jake Paul x Corey Feldman collab and you guys just ruin the comments with your lazy ''jokes''.

Last Resort I still like even if I think the lyrics weren't as developed as there should've been and the riff sounds like Iron Maiden.
TheBlackKnight1o1 You mean like Iron Maiden's Genghis Khan? ;)
I was thinking Hallowed be Thy Name.
Also really close. Maiden sort of ripped themselves off with that one even. Genghis Khan came first on the Killers album in 81.
I know it was on Killers but I haven't listened to that album in a while, so I can't really remember how it sounded. Lol

Haha... Back in the before time, in the long long ago, before memes were known as memes, a common meme among my friends was the line, "you don't wanna see my hand where my hip be at..."
I can only think of one song from my past that I absolutely HATE: Smooth by Santana and Rob Thomas. My brother played that song for months at full volume whenever he had the chance. I could hear it through the walls. He left it on repeat at night. I know all the words to this song, I don't WANT to know all the words to this song.

Dsa Sfsafds Giles Corey is maf I’m sheriff trust me
Fuck when I was 9 or 10 the song "what it's like" was my first big introduction into music that had some type of substance. Maybe looking back it isn't as big a deal now but back then man this song hit hard and made me think, regardless that's my opinion
Controversial oof i love that song
it's just that once you've passed childhood and into teenage and adulthood, the song's statements are obvious and un-nuanced and preachy. Plus, the song just sorta sounds cheesy
There are so many worse songs to choose in this time period than Everlast's.
XxBryanxX I actually really like What Its Like. Not sure why he thinks it's so terrible. I understand the genre cliches but I don't think that makes it a terrible song.
Phantom Prism That's how i feel. I mean it's a good song. I actually think he has a couple good songs as a solo artist.
I just think this list has a lot of flaws. There is so much shit that is even worse than the worst song on here.
Thank you though. I'm glad you share the opinion on What it's Like.
XxBryanxX hell yeah it's a great tune! I love the beat and the acoustic guitars. I don't think it's that cheesy at all. Interesting how Fantano thinks the use of strings in that song is cheesy yet it's always brilliant in Radiohead songs... and don't get me wrong I'm a hardcore Radiohead fan.. I'm just saying Fantano is pretty bias sometimes. He knitpicks very small criticisms on certain bands but will turn around and praise another band for the same exact thing
Phantom Prism You put that very well. That's exactly what he does. And for the life of me I can't figure out how Papa Roach is cheesier than Limp Bizkit. I'm glad I'm not the only one that sees this hypocrisy.
XxBryanxX I still love Fantano too. He's my favorite music reviewer on TH-cam. I feel like he breaks things down pretty well and points out things that I notice that I feel nobody else does. But he's got some opinions I really just don't understand.
Wild Wild West is a classic though.
