Sand Crashes and Water Crossings in the DESERT? 7 Days on ADV Bikes in Mexico, Day 2

  • Spending seven days on a motorcycle riding on and off road in Baja Mexico from Cabo San Lucas to San Diego was the adventure of a lifetime. I was incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to take a Baja motorcycle trip on a Yamaha Tenere 700, courtesy of the awesome team at ‪@RIDEAdventures‬ This tour took us over 1300 miles from Baja California Sur to the US Border.
Want to go on a Baja motorcycle tour of your own? Check out all the options and sign up for yourself at www.rideadv.co...
Make sure you tell them Dork sent ya!
Day 2 of our Baja Mexico motorcycle adventure took us from the coastal capital of La Paz to the city of Loreto. Along the way we enjoyed lunch in Ciudad Constitucion and spent hours riding through the beautiful baja mexico desert. We had plenty of Tenere 700 crashes in the sand and rode adventure bikes through at least 20 water crossings this day...but all the hard riding paid off when we were rewarded with views of a beautiful Spanish mission in the heart of the desert and a twisty canyon run down to Loreto in the sunset.

I’m in Florida and ride nothing but these sandy roads and it’s funny to hear you give yourself words of encouragement and tips 😂 I do the same thing every ride. No matter how much sand you ride, it gives you sweaty palms for sure! Great video, thanks for sharing!

The way you coach yourself while riding is awesome. Apparently, you do better than I do since you weren't reminding yourself to breathe. I have to do that. It's fun watching you see new things and hearing your thoughts.

That was awesome. Hey you are correct on learning what is a crash and what isn’t and when to hold em and when to fold em. Riding a dirt bike is the best and lighter way to learn. Not to mention cheaper when things break. I learned how to fall SO GOOD in my first year of dirt biking 2020.
I’m beginning to see a pattern here with the closing of your videos😄.

Ben you must be a ninja or you use to be in the special forces the way you came off that bike and you were still on your feet. Great recovery. You should have used that technique when you fell over on the recliner. 😅👍 I got to learn that technique. 😊. KC looks like Festus from gun smoke. Do you see it?

Glad you're enjoying Baja! Me and my riding partner live in San Diego and are down there quite often (at least pre-Covid). We're just starting to do trips again (latest teaser for our Guerrero Negro whale watching trip is on our channel if you're interested in checking it out).
Looking forward to seeing the rest of your trip. Hope you got to see the Mission in San Ignacio, and interested to see your reaction to the Cataviña Desert. Baja is where I go when my soul needs a little refresh.
(By the way you and I were talking Bad Religion in the comments in a couple months back).

A few years ago a buddy and I did that ride the other way, we came from Mulege down to Ciudad Constitucion.
That gas station between La Paz and Ciudad Constitucion, was that at Las Pocitas? Due to my buddy insisting I didn't need gas and I could get it there, I didn't fill up on our way out of C.C. and when we got to Las Pocitas the Pemex was out of gas - the truck didn't come the day before. A guy ended up siphoning a gallon out of F150 that had rolled which JUST got me to the outskirts of La Paz.
That ride from Hwy 1 to San Javier was/is awesome and the views... pictures don't do them justice! Just beautiful!

This section was one of the most beautiful rides I've done (was out there a week ago). Curious if your party came across a wash about 100' wide that was super washed out. I had to slightly divert around it because luggage + solo felt quite sketch! And that descent into Loreto is incredible!

I rarely try to ride out wrecks. I exit early if stuff starts to wrong. I figure it's better to exit the bike on my own terms. I also try to get as far away from the bike as possible. It's worked for me so far.

How many people do you need to pick up a fallen adventure bike ( not a crf300l rally )….the answer= more than one. Conclusion, don't ride by yourself when riding a heavy ass off road bike.
Kinda defeats of riding when and where you want without having to consult with multiple people....oh well at least your moving fast.

    • @DorkintheRoad
      @DorkintheRoad  ปีที่แล้ว
